Chapter 610: The Demonic Shadow Faded, the Demon Sword Subdued

  • Next Chapter

Massive Blood Qi mingled with that Devil Qi. Crimson patterns crawled up that Demon Sword. In a daze, it felt like only slaughter remained within the heavens and earth.

Chen Changsheng’s expression turned grave; he instantly sensed trouble.

He swiftly formed hand seals. Hundreds of hair strands transformed into streaks of Golden Light, cast outward.

“Divine Sense, appear!”

At that thought, it was as if a bell tolled.

A colossal Divine Sense phantom appeared, shielding Chen Changsheng.

Those hundreds of hair strands turned into golden swords, landing in the grasp of the Divine Sense.

Chen Changsheng didn’t believe that figure would be flawless. If that figure was truly alive, then the Divine Sense attack would surely work.

It all came down to this one strike. If it couldn’t win, he couldn’t linger longer.

“Buzz.”

The Magical Power-formed sword was tightly gripped in the hands of the hundred-zhang-tall Divine Sense phantom.

All the vast Blood Qi was drawn in by the Demon Sword.

As the Sword Qi trembled, nearby rocks lifted into the air. The Crimson Moon overhead also began to flicker between light and dark.

“All depends on this one sword.”

The Demon Sword swept out, bringing endless slaughter and Devil Qi. The swirling rocks rained down like hail.

The hundred-zhang Divine Sense swung its sword. This strike seemed unable to even stir the wind, yet in truth, it severed nothing but Soul Spirits.

The two Sword Qis passed each other by.

In that instant, the roaring sounds deafening the ears ceased entirely.

This Heaven and Earth seemed to grow quiet.

It plunged into utter silence.

The blink of an eye later, upon reopening his eyes, the surroundings had changed drastically. Everything faded into nothingness under the ripple of the two Sword Qis.

Dust blotted out the Crimson Moon. The surrounding mountains were flattened, revealing the very edge of this realm in one sweeping glance.

High in the air, a figure in a Blue Robe lifted a hand, sweeping his sleeve.

A soft breeze blew, scattering the dust.

A Demon Sword fell into Chen Changsheng’s view.

Vaguely, a human-shaped mass of Devil Qi slowly dispersed, just like the white bones seen earlier, fading away with the wind.

And that Demon Sword, it too lost its luster in that instant. As the shadow vanished, it clattered to the ground.

Chen Changsheng tapped his toes lightly, leaping forward.

A strand of hair drifted out, lifting the Demon Sword.

‘It really was a living being…’

Chen Changsheng breathed a sigh of relief, gazing at the dissolving Devil Qi overhead. A sudden sense of loneliness welled up in his heart.

Perhaps it was because of the momentary fierceness just now; it faded too quickly, leaving only regret.

The Demon Sword floated slowly towards him, suspended before his eyes on that strand of hair.

“So, could that shadow have been the Remnant Soul of the Summoning Demon Divine Monarch left within the sword?”

That shadow was already gone; there was nowhere to confirm it now.

But this guess made the most sense.

Chen Changsheng pushed aside the thought, raised his hand, and prepared to grasp the Demon Sword.

His hand hovered in the air, hesitating for just an instant, but only for that instant.

Chen Changsheng promptly took hold of the Demon Sword.

The Demon Sword shuddered.

In that instant, Chen Changsheng’s gaze changed too.

The darkest corners of his heart were awakened all at once. All his hidden selfishness and wickedness surfaced under the sword’s influence.

Chen Changsheng’s arm trembled violently.

His expression darkened. He swiftly lifted his hand, formed seals, and chanted softly.

‘Qingxin like water, Qingshui is the heart, no breeze stirs, no waves rise, undisturbed…’

Yet the Qingxin chant proved almost useless.

Seeing this, Chen Changsheng hurriedly released the sword. The affected emotions and thoughts immediately calmed.

“Huff, huff…”

Chen Changsheng caught his breath, subduing the turmoil stirred by the Demon Sword.

Indeed.

He, Chen Changsheng, was a man with impure thoughts.

Considering himself a vulgar man, he had too many demons within his heart. So, upon grasping the sword, his resentments and darker side were amplified without limit, making it impossible for him to wield such a blade.

Only those truly inclined towards demonic ways, or those absolutely pure of heart, could hold this sword.

And Chen Changsheng belonged to neither category.

For a moment, he felt troubled. The masterless Demon Sword still held remnants of its former glory; picking it up was no simple task.

Chen Changsheng sighed softly, thinking: ‘Could the only option be to seal it away…’?

Or use the Black Pagoda to erode the sword bit by bit?

Though currently defeated by Chen Changsheng, the Demon Sword held no hint of surrender.

Except for its original Lord, it would yield to none.

Chen Changsheng pondered for a long time. Since he couldn’t control the sword, the best course was to seal or destroy it…

Otherwise, in anyone’s hands, such a Demon Sword could unleash great disaster.

It was simply a pity for such a sword.

Chen Changsheng examined the sword from side to side.

Destroy it?

He shook his head. With his current cultivation, it was likely impossible. Protected by its Devil Qi, he had little chance.

Sealing it remained the only choice.

Chen Changsheng surveyed his surroundings. The recent battle had turned this entire Demon Realm to plains; signs of shattering were evident now.

“Ah, there’s a way.”

Perhaps he could use this Demon Sword itself to temporarily stabilize this Heaven and Earth while sealing it here. Later, the Black Pagoda could be used to slowly erode the Devil Qi within the sword.

However, setting up the formation posed a problem for Chen Changsheng.

Ultimately, he had studied too little.

Deprived of the Decree Art, deeper formations like this left him perplexed.

“Guess I need to call for help…”

Chen Changsheng raised his hand, fingers forming a seal before him.

“Eight Immortals cross the sea, each showing their divine powers.”

“I call upon, the Eight Trigrams Immortals!”

As his voice fell, Golden Light erupted.

Forms descended one after another.

“I, Lü, greet the Master.”

“Master, has the Demon Sword been vanquished?”

Chen Changsheng clasped his hands respectfully. “I, Chen, greet the Eight Immortals. After a lengthy struggle, the Demon Sword is now subdued. I call upon you again seeking your assistance in sealing away this sword.”

Lü Dongbin nodded upon hearing this. “A minor task, hardly worth mentioning. We shall definitely exert our utmost effort.”

“My thanks for the trouble.”

“Furthermore, Chen wishes to use this sword to stabilize this realm. Is it possible?”

“Not difficult.”

“That is good.”

Chen Changsheng nodded, then joined the Eight Immortals to form the seal.

The Eight Immortals and Chen Changsheng each took their positions, setting up the Formation Array.

In barely a moment, nine streams of Magical Power converged above the Demon Sword.

As the array materialized, the Demon Sword exploded with a surge of massive Devil Qi, attempting to resist. But stripped of its human shadow, the sword was weakened significantly and merely suppressed by the array.

“I have the Formation Array ruling Qiankun, suppressing Demons and Monsters, CONTAIN!”

With these words, a Rune pressed down, pinning the Demon Sword firmly within this Heaven and Earth.

Once the array fully activated, the shattered parts of this realm began merging.

The Eight Immortals cupped their hands. Lü Dongbin spoke: “Our humble effort bears fruit.”

Chen Changsheng offered a gentle smile, clasping his hands. “Thank you for your hard work.”

As the Eight Immortals dispersed, Chen Changsheng sighed again in relief.

Yet concern lingered when he looked back at the Demon Sword.

He felt a strong premonition that this sword would cause great trouble later.

Dealing with it promptly was best.
