Immortal Travel of Longevity
Chapter 1170: Tiger Demon Suppresses the Immortal
Meng Po, who had been perfectly gentle just a moment ago, suddenly slammed down the spoon in her hand.
A heavy thud rang out.
"Xiao Fuzi, catch him!" Meng Po snapped. "I'm boiling him into soup!"
"Trouble, trouble! Every single day, nothing but trouble!"
"Ahhh! I'm so sick of it!"
Meng Po tore at her hair, waving her soup spoon wildly in the air.
Zhong Zhengyuan stared in stunned silence. He had no idea what was going on.
When he turned his head, the underworld deputy from a moment ago was already locked in combat with the intruder.
Zhong Zhengyuan watched the man take to the air on a flying sword to battle the deputy.
"A Sword Mountain cultivator?"Zhong Zhengyuan recognized the intruder's origins the moment he saw these Divine Abilities.
Such profound mastery over the art of flying swords left no doubt—he was definitely from Sword Mountain.
Curious, Zhong Zhengyuan turned back to her. "Lady Meng Po, why is this man in such a frenzy? Logically speaking, if a cultivator from the Cultivation World dies, they should be able to choose whether to enter the Yellow Springs themselves, shouldn't they?"
Meng Po planted her hands on her hips. "How should I know? You'd have to ask what the people in the living world are up to! Every day they send over these rebellious runts! Causing trouble, making a mess—it's infuriating!"
Seeing Meng Po's sudden explosive temper, Zhong Zhengyuan didn't dare press the matter. He shifted his attention back to the underworld deputy and the Sword Cultivator.
The Sword Cultivator was highly skilled, and his weapon was incredibly formidable. It was likely a spiritual blade condensed within his Sea of Consciousness years ago. Very few could achieve such a feat; now that he was a departed soul, possessing this sword made him twice as deadly.
Meng Po watched from the sidelines, growing anxious. "Aiya, Xiao Fuzi, hit him! Hit his head! Hit his arm! Yes, yes, yes! Kick him below the belt!"
Hearing her incessant nagging, the underworld deputy grew annoyed and shouted, "Where exactly am I supposed to hit him?!"
Meng Po stomped her foot in anger.
"Just wait till I call for backup!"
She dashed over to a nearby table and ignited a Talisman.
"Huzi, Huzi, come quick! We've got another troublemaker!"
As Meng Po called out, the Talisman burned to ashes, and a wisp of blue smoke drifted out of the hall.
"Hang in there, Xiao Fuzi! Your Brother Hu will be here right away!"
Xiao Fuzi's expression shifted slightly. "Got it!"
His movements sped up. Knowing full well that he was no match for the cultivator before him, he kept his distance, stalling for time and refusing to clash head-on.
"You dog!" the Sword Mountain cultivator cursed. "Eat my sword!"
Xiao Fuzi dodged frantically around the hall. The chaotic battle terrified the lingering souls, sending them scattering out of the building.
Countless items were smashed and scattered across the floor in the chaos.
"My bones! My jar! My table!!"
Meng Po clutched her head in distress. "I'm going to boil you down to dregs, I swear it!!"
Right at the peak of her fury...
...a deep, booming voice echoed through the air.
"Who dares cause trouble here?!"
Seeing his chance, Xiao Fuzi hastily retreated and took shelter beside Meng Po.
The Sword Mountain cultivator turned around to see a figure arriving outside the hall.
Or rather, not a person!
It was a demon!
The Sword Mountain cultivator narrowed his eyes. "A tiger demon?"
Tu Hu frowned. In the blink of an eye, he swiped his massive claw forward.
Startled, the cultivator raised his sword to block.
Boom!
But it was like a mantis trying to stop a chariot. The sheer force of the blow sent the Sword Mountain cultivator flying.
Crash...
He smashed into the wall and crumpled to the ground.
The cultivator's face paled in horror. Before he could react, the tiger demon was already looming over him.
Tu Hu grabbed him by the throat and hoisted him into the air.
Tu Hu stared at him with icy eyes. "You dare cause trouble in the Underworld with such pitiful skills?"
"Become a changui in my jaws!"
With that, he lifted the cultivator higher and opened his bloody, gaping maw.
"No, no..."
Before the cultivator could finish pleading, Tu Hu swallowed him whole.
"Aiya!"
Meng Po cried out and scurried over. "Huzi! Why did you swallow him?!"
Tu Hu shot her a look. "You wanted him?"
Meng Po pointed wildly at the surrounding wreckage. "Look at this! Just look at what he did to my room! I was going to boil him into soup!"
Tu Hu paused, deliberating for a moment, before looking up. "I already ate him."
Meng Po stomped her foot in frustration, but then let out a heavy sigh. "Forget it..."
She put her hands back on her hips. "Sigh. Look, you need to let Xiao Fuzi train at your place sometime. He still can't hold his own in a fight."
"We'll talk about it later," Tu Hu said.
He treated the woman before him with a trace of quiet reverence. In truth, crushing her to death would have been as easy as flipping his hand. Yet, he didn't dare. She was someone the Demon Sovereign had personally appointed, and her temper was exceptionally eccentric.
Tu Hu paused for a moment. "If there's nothing else, I'll be taking my leave."
Meng Po waved him off. "Go on, go on. Oh, wait! Do you want some soup? I added extra ingredients this time, it's really delicious."
Tu Hu glanced at the fragrant, tempting broth in the cauldron. He vehemently shook his head and fled the hall without another word.
He knew better than anyone—that soup was absolutely forbidden to drink.
One sip, and he really would forget everything.
Meng Po composed herself and walked back over to the Ritual Cauldron.
"Oh no!"
"My soup!"
Meng Po instantly flew into a panic, tearing at her hair. "It's ruined, it's ruined, it's overcooked! Xiao Fuzi, why didn't you watch it for me?!"
Xiao Fuzi froze. "I... I don't know how to cook soup," he stammered.
"Forget it..."
Meng Po let out a long sigh. "I can't count on you for anything in this house."
Xiao Fuzi wisely kept his mouth shut, not daring to argue.
Meng Po looked straight ahead and suddenly blanked.
"Hey, wait a minute. Where did that old man go?"
"What old man?" Xiao Fuzi asked in confusion.
"The one who was just talking to me."
Xiao Fuzi thought back but hadn't noticed anyone. "He probably got scared off by the fighting."
Meng Po paused. "He was standing right here! Oh no, what if he was in cahoots with that troublemaker?! Go look for him, quick! That old man is way stronger than the idiot who just attacked us!"
Xiao Fuzi stared at her. "Why didn't you say that earlier?"
"Everything was a mess, how am I supposed to remember every little detail?!" Meng Po yelled. "Just go!"
Xiao Fuzi quickly dashed out to search.
Meng Po stared at the soup in the cauldron, unable to hide her grief. "My poor pot of soup..."
"Whatever, I'll just have to make a fresh batch!"
"Hmph! That old man was definitely his accomplice. He was trying to distract me! He even asked how I made the soup! He was up to no good!"
"Fine, fine, fine! I'll just increase the dosage!"
"A little extra of this! And... a little extra of this, too!"
Meng Po bustled about her work, having firmly concluded in her heart that Zhong Zhengyuan was a scheming, wicked old man.
Meanwhile, Zhong Zhengyuan had taken advantage of the chaos to slip away. He had already found his physical body buried in the Sand Sea.
Once his soul returned to his mortal shell, he pondered for a moment before trying to figure out a way out of this place.
He knew that if he refused to drink the soup, he likely wouldn't be able to venture any deeper into the realm.
It was a dead end from the start.
