Immortal Travel of Longevity
Chapter 1086: The Roaming Dragon of Sword Qi
Yan Nantian couldn't see the malicious ghosts.
But judging by the look on Li Gu's face, he knew their situation was incredibly dire.
“This way!”
Li Gu drew his longbow, carving out a path.
He guided Prince Yu forward.
Yan Nantian looked a little worse for wear as he fled, but he couldn't afford to care about that now.
Li Gu hurried after him, only for the swarming malicious ghosts to tightly entangle his legs.
“My Lord, go!”
Li Gu roared.
Yan Nantian shook his head and turned away.Ultimately, the malicious ghosts were merely being controlled; a Northern Desert priest suddenly appeared, blocking Yan Nantian's path.
Shang Yu looked at the prince. “Prince Yu, come with me.”
Yan Nantian drew his longsword and took a deep breath. “I once heard of a jianghu swordsman who struck down an immortal. While my swordsmanship may not be as extraordinary, I would still like to try.”
Shang Yu shook his head. “You overestimate yourself.”
With a wave of his sleeve, he stirred up a gale of dust and oppressive pressure.
Under this overwhelming force, Yan Nantian's tricks proved entirely useless. In the blink of an eye, he was thrown to the ground.
He coughed, his sword falling to the ground.
Yan Nantian's heart sank as he staggered back to his feet.
He knew escape was impossible. His only option now was to stall for time until Mister Zhu broke free from his predicament.
He tightened his grip on his sword, staring intently at Shang Yu.
“Shang Yu!”
Yan Nantian yelled, “Even if I die here today, it won't change the fate of the Northern Desert! One day, the iron cavalry of the Central Plains will trample your lands flat! All that awaits you is the annihilation of your tribes, and your nation will be buried by time!”
Shang Yu smiled pleasantly. “You need not trouble yourself with that, Prince Yu.”
He walked forward step by step, closing the distance to Yan Nantian.
Until he was practically within arm's reach.
Suddenly, the sharp hum of a sword rang out.
Shang Yu's expression shifted, and he hastily stepped back.
As he flipped backward, he caught sight of a small sword formed entirely of Sword Qi weaving through the forest. It finally hovered to a halt right in front of Prince Yu.
“Who goes there?”
Shang Yu frowned and looked over.
A figure finally arrived from behind.
Ruyi paused to catch her breath. “Just in time.”
Yan Nantian was stunned. “What are you doing here?! Run!”
Ruyi kicked him. “What the hell are you yelling for! Your Grand Aunt came here to save you. Does a junior like you have the right to spout nonsense?!”
Yan Nantian froze, then snapped, “What are you playing at?!”
Ruyi ignored him, turning her gaze toward Shang Yu.
Ruyi pointed at him. “Hey, you, dressed in pitch black. Who are you again? State your name. I don't kill nobodies.”
Shang Yu's expression changed. “It's you...”
Ruyi paused in confusion. “You know me?”
Yan Nantian quickly explained, “This is the High Priest of the Northern Desert. His name is Shang Yu.”
Ruyi searched her memory.
Faintly, she seemed to remember something.
“Oh!”
Ruyi said, “I remember now! You're the one who ambushed me at the city gates that day!”
Shang Yu's expression shifted, and for a moment he didn't dare step forward.
With a raise of her hand, the strand of Sword Qi returned to Ruyi's palm.
“Let me tell you something!”
“I'm not afraid of you anymore!”
Ruyi declared.
Shang Yu's mouth twitched at her words.
He honestly couldn't tell who was supposed to be afraid of whom.
Shang Yu looked up and said, “This matter shouldn't concern you, should it?”
Ruyi blinked. “What kind of stupid question is that?”
Shang Yu sighed, but his gaze quickly turned sharp. “I don't care who is backing you! For the Northern Desert! Yan Nantian must die today!”
Yan Nantian grabbed Ruyi's clothes and said, “Run! Now!”
Ruyi swatted him away and said, “Go play somewhere else.”
With that, Ruyi raised her hand.
A streak of Sword Qi and a Dragon Spirit burst forth.
They were accompanied by the roar of a dragon and the howl of Sword Qi.
This left Yan Nantian staring in shock.
“You're a cultivator?” Yan Nantian asked.
Ruyi replied, “I don't know the first thing about Cultivation, but my uncle does.”
As Shang Yu clashed with the Sword Qi, he instantly found it incredibly troublesome.
This ethereal, untraceable Flying Sword caught him completely off guard, let alone the Dragon Spirit that carried the aura of a True Dragon.
That was a True Dragon!
Shang Yu's expression changed. He couldn't fathom how a woman without a single shred of Magical Power could unleash such methods.
No matter how he looked at her, she was just a mortal who knew a little martial arts!
What exactly was her background to command the aura of a True Dragon?!
“Come!”
Shang Yu uttered softly.
Instantly, the dark spirits and malicious ghosts swarmed forward.
The Flying Sword and Dragon Spirit wove through the spectral horde. Just these two were enough to pin down all the dark spirits and malicious ghosts, even showing signs of suppressing them.
Wherever the Flying Sword passed, a spirit shattered. Whenever the Dragon Spirit opened its jaws, it devoured dozens of ghosts.
Seeing this, Shang Yu briefly lost his composure.
“Clang!”
The Sword Qi ripped through the air, and Shang Yu slightly tilted his head away.
The Sword Qi sliced across his cheek, leaving a bloody gash.
The Dragon Spirit descended with crushing pressure, aiming to coil around his neck.
Shang Yu drew his scimitar to resist.
But he was pushed back four or five zhang by the seemingly small Dragon Spirit.
Yan Nantian watched this scene in a daze.
He couldn't help but look at Ruyi. Traveling to Shangjing together for so long, he had never known she possessed such methods.
Even the priest of the Northern Desert was completely powerless against her.
Shang Yu raised a hand to touch the cut on his cheek, leaving a smear of blood on his fingertips.
His expression shifted as he suddenly sensed something.
An aura was rapidly approaching their location.
“Oh no!”
Knowing things had taken a turn for the worse, Shang Yu immediately prepared to flee.
“Where do you think you're escaping to!”
Zhu Sheng leaped over. With a raise of his hand, a bamboo leaf transformed into a Flying Sword and slashed forward.
Shang Yu's face fell, but he was viciously pierced through the chest by the bamboo sword.
“Bang!”
The next moment, Shang Yu's body suddenly transformed into a cloud of white mist.
Ultimately, it turned into a vulture that plummeted to the ground.
Zhu Sheng stepped forward to inspect it. The bamboo sword had pinned the vulture to the dirt; it struggled for a moment before growing completely still.
He frowned slightly as the bamboo sword then dissipated.
Ruyi and Yan Nantian hurried over.
“How did he turn into a bird?” Ruyi paused and asked, “Is the High Priest of the Northern Desert a demon too?”
Zhu Sheng shook his head and said, “This is a possession technique. He attached his divine sense to this vulture. His true body remains in the Northern Desert, but his soul slipped over here in secret. The vulture may be dead, but the divine sense it carried escaped just now.”
Ruyi listened to this, and her gaze shifted to Zhu Sheng.
“Hey, your voice sounds a bit familiar. Have I met you before?”
Zhu Sheng looked at Ruyi and smiled. “Miss Ruyi, it's been a long time.”
When Zhu Sheng turned his head.
Ruyi finally realized and said, “You're the lantern vendor from the Temple Fair!”
