Chapter 1005: Mister Is Going to Recultivate?!

  • Next Chapter

Chen Changsheng fell silent.

Truth be told, having lived for so many years, he did understand a few things about Cultivation. But when it came to foundational theory, he was truly clueless.

The logic was actually quite simple. It was the difference between a team of professionals and a grave robber.

As Manyue stared at him, Chen Changsheng felt more than a little embarrassed.

His mind was a mess for a moment before he asked, "Then what should I do?"

Manyue opened her mouth to answer, but instead asked, "What do you think?"

Chen Changsheng paused. "So, Magical Power must share the same origin to fuse together. Is that what you mean?"

Manyue nodded. Then she added, "Don't tell me you don't even know what your own spiritual root is?"

"It should be... fire," Chen Changsheng said.

Manyue paused before saying, "Cultivators never have just one kind of spiritual root..."

Chen Changsheng stared blankly. "Is that so?"

Their eyes met.

Manyue looked at him calmly, though his sheer ignorance made her want to rub her temples.

"Are you joking with me? You really don't know?"

"I only have a half-baked understanding."

"How in the world have you been managing your Cultivation?"

Chen Changsheng smiled. "Just treat me as a rustic villager figuring things out on a whim."

Manyue sighed softly. "You have your own Magical Power. You will know once you test it. If your spiritual root aligns with fire, then executing fire-based Divine Abilities will feel smooth. If it doesn't, they will feel sluggish by comparison."

How could Chen Changsheng understand any of this?

Over the years, the Arts and Techniques he used were either edicts or sword arts. He rarely utilized true Divine Abilities, so he knew very little about such matters.

After all, he was entirely self-taught.

Chen Changsheng tried executing a few Divine Abilities. He didn't feel any blockages or resistance. On the contrary, everything flowed incredibly smoothly.

Upon hearing this, Manyue stepped forward and tested him herself, finally unraveling the mystery.

"A yin-yang spiritual root." Manyue paused. "So that's how it is. However, with a spiritual root like yours, it is an absolute waste to practice a Cultivation method strictly aligned with the fire element."

Chen Changsheng murmured in thought. "Chaos transforms into yin and yang, and yin and yang transform into the Five Elements. Does that mean it is a Five Elements spiritual root?"

Manyue shook her head. "It is not the same. Aside from the Five Elements, there are other spiritual roots, such as lightning, pure yang, and pure yin. A yin-yang spiritual root encompasses all of them. This means you can practice absolutely any Cultivation method."

"I see," Chen Changsheng said. "Then what happens if someone without a fire-attribute spiritual root practices a fire-attribute Cultivation method?"

"Nothing much. Most of the time, they simply won't be able to cultivate it at all. But if they try to force it, they risk entering fire and falling into demons. It is the equivalent of a lake without water, yet you stubbornly throw a fish inside."

Chen Changsheng nodded. "I have learned much."

Manyue's expression froze slightly, rendering her temporarily speechless. It was a good thing he had a yin-yang spiritual root. Otherwise, blindly figuring things out on his own would have inevitably led to entering fire and falling into demons sooner or later. It was a genuine miracle that he had survived to this day and retained his original capabilities.

In reality, what Manyue did not know was this.

Chen Changsheng had only truly begun his Cultivation after that Strand of Hair was used in the Demon Domain.

In his earlier years, he had borrowed the Magical Power stored within that hair.

After all, unlike ordinary people, he did not have the luxury of time to cultivate Magical Power. That hair had been his sole reliance.

Then she heard Chen Changsheng ask, "Then the Magical Power generated by these Red Beans—even if it cannot enter my dantian sea of qi, I should still be able to channel it, right?"

Just like he had done with the hair.

Manyue paused before replying, "Theoretically, yes. The Magical Power within these Red Beans is an ownerless entity."

Chen Changsheng said, "Then it isn't entirely useless."

He then asked, "Based on what you've said, the Cultivation method I practice is flawed, which caused the two streams of Magical Power to clash. If I were to recultivate a method that encompasses the Five Elements, would that allow this Magical Power to enter my Dantian and fuse with my own?"

Manyue replied, "In theory, there is no issue. But this will still affect you. Foreign Magical Power, even if ownerless, can never be wielded as smoothly as your own. Furthermore, the energies contained within this external Magical Power differ in composition. In truth, there will still be a slight rejection. This will affect your future breakthroughs—essentially lowering your upper limit."

Chen Changsheng pondered this before saying, "Similar to Elixir Pills. Taking them over a long period always leaves behind pill toxins, which makes the subsequent path significantly more difficult."

"That is the logic," Manyue agreed. "However, pill toxins can be cleansed. Your Magical Power is different. This issue is almost impossible to resolve unless you recultivate your technique and walk the entire path over again, step by step."

Realization dawned on Chen Changsheng. "So it seems This Chen nearly went down the wrong path."

Manyue sighed. "More than just the wrong path—it was catastrophically wrong..."

She had no idea where Chen Changsheng got such nerve.

To dare tinker with Cultivation while knowing absolutely nothing.

To experiment on himself without even making preliminary tests—was this pure confidence, or did he simply not care whether he lived or died?

Chen Changsheng let out a helpless smile. Exhaling a breath, he said, "Thank you for the warning today, Miss Manyue."

Manyue gave him a glance. "It was no trouble."

Chen Changsheng thought for a moment before asking, "I wonder if Miss Manyue happens to have any Cultivation methods suitable for a yin-yang spiritual root?"

Manyue shook her head. She was on her own and had brought nothing with her when she left the spirit cage, let alone Cultivation methods.

Besides.

It was impossible for a Cultivation method suited for a yin-yang spiritual root to even emerge from within the spirit cage.

Manyue explained, "Many Cultivation methods originated in the spirit cage, but because the laws there are incomplete, no method that surpasses the Five Elements Tier has ever appeared."

Chen Changsheng nodded, fully understanding the situation.

It seemed he would have to go search for one himself.

He hadn't stayed much longer when Mister Chen spoke again. "I am taking a trip to Tianji Mountain."

Manyue did not ask him to stay. This man was always like this, constantly in a hurry.

One might call him casual and frivolous, yet whenever he arranged certain matters, he was incredibly thorough and methodical.

Tianji Mountain was far from here. By borrowing some of Listening to Rain's Magical Power, however, he arrived in merely half a day.

According to Chen Changsheng's reasoning:

The method of cultivating Magical Power through Scattering Beans to Form Soldiers was still useful.

He had always borrowed Magical Power; he was accustomed to doing so, and there was nothing inherently wrong with it. But equally, he needed to pay attention to his own Cultivation. For so many years, the duration he could remain awake had hardly changed. Perhaps this was because his soul-refining technique had reached a bottleneck.

Perhaps cultivating Magical Power this time could change this situation, allowing him to stay awake for longer periods.

He still needed to work hard.

Ultimately, relying on external objects was still just external power. It was never as reliable as having formidable strength of his own.

Upon arriving at Tianji Mountain, Chen Changsheng first met Chen Daoqiu and explained the purpose of his visit.

Later, upon hearing that Mister Zhong had already returned to the mountain, he went to Mister Zhong's residence.

Old friends reuniting inevitably had much to talk about.

And when Zhong Zhengyuan heard the Mister say he was looking for a Cultivation method, he asked, "Is Mister seeking a technique for a disciple?"

"No, This Chen will cultivate it himself."

"Ah?"

Zhong Zhengyuan was stunned. He asked, "Mister is going to recultivate?!"
