Immortal of the Nine Realms
Chapter 1933: You Lied to Me
Yun Que frowned slightly. "That Formation-Breaking Tune must be a divine ability developed specifically for their evil path. It suppresses the evil qi within them, indirectly allowing them to unleash their techniques to a greater extent."
The Yang Gods, Dragon God, and everyone noticed something amiss as well.
Yun He stroked his beard. "That zither music indeed suppresses evil qi. It's no wonder that despite walking the same path, he was still able to forcefully condense an Inner Domain."
Fang Zhentian looked closely at Honglian, his eyes narrowing. "Have you all noticed? That young girl is somewhat different from the others."
"Hmm?"
Prompted by Fang Zhentian's reminder, everyone began to carefully observe Honglian.
Although the Ancient Demon was undeniably formidable and had demonstrated extraordinary power the moment he struck, at their current pace, it would take them at least a good few months to break the outer layer of the golden light.
By that time, they would have long since retreated from the Underworld in a calm, orderly fashion and dispersed into smaller numbers. They wouldn't fear the likes of the Ancient Demon or Jinyang at all.
Meanwhile, Honglian remained fully engrossed in playing her instrument, completely indifferent to the prying and scrutinizing gazes from the outside world. She seemed completely immersed in her own little universe. With every single pluck of her fingers upon the zither strings, a faint trace of white light sank into the instrument.
It then surged out in all directions alongside the power of the zither music, melting into the millions of human cultivators, million-strong demon army, Jinyang, and the Ancient Demon. With the light integrating into them, the effectiveness of the cultivators' techniques rose by several levels. Even the evil qi on the Ancient Demon and his peers was faintly suppressed, preventing it from immediately triggering a severe backlash.
Fang Chen noticed the white light as well. It felt remarkably familiar to him.
With an exceptionally grave expression, Fang Zhentian declared, "That is a divine ability."
Everyone's expressions filled with confusion. "A divine ability?"
Aside from a few select individuals, the majority did not understand the true definition of a divine ability in this context.
The Nine Realms possessed many magical techniques that people revered as divine abilities. However, they were certain that the divine ability Fang Zhentian spoke of was entirely different from what they usually envisioned.
Fang Chen felt a wave of surprise. Has Little Immortal Honglian been walking the path of the Saint Canon from the very beginning?
If that were true, she could very well become a critical turning point.
Fang Chen's expression grew increasingly serious as he subtly glanced at Shao Mengyuan from the corner of his eye. If she goes beyond the Limit Breaking Realm in the future, condenses an Inner Domain, and becomes a Saint, the God Race will once again possess a Supreme Bone. Even if it is just a single one, it is still their core foundation. It will be of paramount importance.
The grand commander of the God-Slaying Army, who wasn't just as strong as a Limit Breaking expert but also wielded the God-Slaying Sword, seemed to have also recognized Honglian's crucial significance. He couldn't help but switch between several different expressions.
Yun Que was astonished. "That little girl is walking a pure, authentic path of the Saint Canon."
Yun He added indifferently, "After countless years of waiting, the Divine Race has finally gotten someone like her. Regrettably, the Ancient Demon no longer has enough time. He must return to the Qingming Supreme Alliance if he hopes to save himself."
Fang Chen asked gravely, "Master, Old Man, has there truly never been anyone in all of humanity's countless eons who could walk the path of the Sacred Canon?"
Yun He and Fang Zhentian shook their heads lightly. "Never. This is an extraordinarily, immensely difficult matter for humanity."
Shao Mengyuan heavily remarked, "Ancient Demon, that woman might actually have a chance of becoming a Saint. You should stop."
Lang Daochun gave Honglian an incredibly solemn stare before also turning to the Ancient Demon and stating firmly, "You should stop."
The Ancient Demon smiled faintly. "So you all managed to see through it."
He had spoken as if it were a slip, but he had clearly put Honglian on display before everyone on purpose.
"Then all the more reason for you to sever ties with those humans and return to the Qingming Supreme Alliance with me."
Shao Mengyuan argued, "Going back is a path to certain death. If we nurture her properly and wait until she attains Sainthood, our clan will be completely transformed!"
"A pity. If I don't go back, I will also face certain death and won't live to see that day. In that case, I would rather that day never come at all." The Ancient Demon laughed.
Shao Mengyuan and Lang Daochun exchanged glances, both seeing the fury and astonishment within each other's eyes.
Lang Daochun said coldly, "He has clearly lost his mind."
Shao Mengyuan's expression fluctuated indefinitely. Yun He, Fang Zhentian, and the others gazed at him, be it intentionally or otherwise.
Shao Mengyuan sighed softly, clearly having reached a resolution after a fierce internal conflict just now. "Forget it. Seniors, don't look at me like that. Since my father signed an agreement with you all, we will naturally abide by its terms. Cooperating with a lunatic like the Ancient Demon is far worse than cooperating with you. Besides, she might not truly be able to take that final step."
Pausing for a moment, Shao Mengyuan turned to Fang Chen. "Monarch Fang, with the way they are assaulting the Sarira, it won't be long before they break their way in. Shouldn't you send us away first?"
Lin Qiao, the Fallen Immortal, asked in a sinister tone, "Grand Commander, are you still unwilling to invite Emperor Huang Tian at a time like this?"
Shao Mengyuan completely ignored him, keeping his eyes fixed solely on Fang Chen.
"It is indeed about time to leave. You will stay behind to handle the aftermath when the time comes, and just take the Eighteen Heavens Prison Tower with you. After that, we can figure out a way to deal with those opponents of ours."
Chen Feifei also looked at Fang Chen.
At that moment, Motiang Dizang closed her eyes and slowly extended her hands toward the Forgotten River.
A bridge started to manifest.
Saint Long sighed in admiration. "Since she is now Consort Yan, she can also manipulate this Inner Domain."
Shao Mengyuan, Lang Daochun, and Yun Que all turned to Motian Dizang, their gazes shifting back and forth between the bridge and her.
Fang Chen was also somewhat curious. He wanted to see if the authority granted by the Consort Yan Seal over the Underworld was truly identical to the Monarch Yan Seal.
With a single thought from him, the bridge that was steadily manifesting instantly collapsed, transforming into fragmented phantom rocks that sank straight into the depths of the Forgotten River.
"This is..." Motian Dizang snapped her eyes open, her face turning slightly pale.
She instinctively glanced at Fang Chen, a trace of suspicion flickering in her eyes. "Did you just do something?"
Fang Chen smiled faintly. "I just wanted to test if the authority of Monarch Yan stands above that of Consort Yan."
"Your authority is above mine?" Motian Dizang understood instantly. She immediately whirled around to Li Daoye. "You lied to me."
Li Daoye explained, "I didn't lie to you. You're the one who didn't want the special ability of the Consort Yan Seal to affect you and make you fall in love with someone you don't like. That's why I helped you refine the Consort Yan Seal all over again. I used the power of the Heavenly Dao from this realm to do it. I don't have much of this power left on me to begin with, so every bit I used is gone forever."
Motian Dizang shot a glare at Fang Chen. "Then why is his authority still above mine?"
Li Daoye replied in surprise, "That's only natural. I couldn't just leave myself completely defenseless against you, could I? If you had truly become the Heavenly Dao, then I naturally wouldn't have any misgivings. Until then, if you were to act recklessly or choose to side with the God Dao Sect again, I had to ensure someone could keep you in check."
