Immortal of the Nine Realms

Chapter 1908: The Twelve Golden Immortals

  • Next Chapter

The first emperor of the Black Sun Empire wore a look of utter disdain. "King of Yin Mountain, do you truly think your petty parlor tricks have any use against me?"

He stood perfectly still as he watched the massive temple bear down heavily upon him.

Suddenly, the twelve ninth transformation Great Yin Demons beside him moved. They stepped forward in unison, raising their hands high. A vast, surging torrent of Yin energy swept forth, coalescing into a blood-red light shield that locked into a tense deadlock with the descending temple.

The temple resembled a crushing mountain as it continued its descent. With every inch it pressed down, a terrifying shockwave swept outward in all directions.

The Ghost Immortals of various factions scrambled to employ their techniques, desperately warding off the onslaught of these aftershocks.

Elder Heiyu muttered under her breath, "What terrifyingly fierce methods..."

She possessed a fair understanding of the techniques used by the ninth-transformation Ghost Immortals of each faction. Though they hailed from different origins, the gap in their actual strength was usually not very large. Yet the moment the King of Yin Mountain made his move, she and the others immediately realized how vast the gap could be even among ninth-transformation immortals.

The twelve ninth-transformation Great Yin Demons brought by the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire each possessed an aura that distinctly surpassed the ninth-transformation Ghost Immortals of the various factions. Even so, despite all twelve Great Underworld Demons joining forces, they seemed to be gradually losing their ability to hold the temple back.

In other words, if the King of Yin Mountain had chosen to target any single ninth-transformation Ghost Immortal present, he likely could've killed them instantly.

However... what shocked everyone even more was the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire. If the twelve ninth-transformation Great Yin Demons he brought as mere underlings could fully tie down a legendary Underworld Yin King, then to what terrifying level had his personal strength reached?

At the very least, he is not weaker than the King of Yin Mountain...

Fang Chen watched this scene in absolute silence. As the Monarch Yan of the Underworld, he should have been the eye of this swirling storm, yet his state of mind was exceptionally tranquil.

"Eldest Senior Sister, the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire shouldn't be counted among the Six Great Yin Demon Kings, right?" asked Fang Chen.

Xie Aman watched the shifting tides of the battle while replying via voice transmission, "He is indeed not among the Six Great Yin Demon Kings. Looking at it this way, it's highly probable that other hidden figures similar to the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire exist within the massive Floating Pagoda Realm. There is a high chance that a number of the hidden figures of the Underworld will show their faces today. But that also works out nicely for us. We can finally understand where they stand."

Fang Chen's mind stirred, and he trained his gaze back onto the battlefield.

In an instant, the tide of battle shifted drastically.

The twelve Great Underworld Demons brought by the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire could no longer hold back that terrifying temple. In the blink of an eye, the temple crashed squarely down upon them, slamming heavily into the earth and kicking up a thousand-zhang plume of dust and smoke.

The twelve Great Underworld Demons had completely vanished, clearly trapped and sealed within the structure.

The next moment, the temple seemed to come alive. It began to writhe and churn inside and out, precisely like a stomach digesting food. From deep within the walls, the agonized, blood-curdling shrieks of the twelve Great Yin Demons echoed continuously.

From beginning to end, the King of Yin Mountain maintained an entirely placid expression. He cast a sideways glance toward the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire and said, "These Yin Demon puppets of yours seem a bit weak, don't they?"

The first emperor of the Black Sun Empire stared blankly at the King of Yin Mountain, then scoffed, "Do you really believe your Five Viscera Temple can digest my Twelve Golden Immortals?"

Twelve Golden Immortals?

The crowd was stunned, their expressions turning strange. Presumably, this was simply the name the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire had personally given to his twelve Great Yin Demons.

Only the King of Yin Mountain experienced a drastic shift in expression upon hearing those words. Before he could react, a deafening, earth-shattering boom erupted in everyone's ears.

Pairs of enormous golden hands suddenly punched their way out from inside the temple. Windows and walls alike were violently torn open by the sheer force of these colossal hands.

The King of Yin Mountain's face turned deathly pale at a speed visible to the naked eye. With a sharp flick of his sleeve, the temple was instantly recalled to his side.

The twelve ninth transformation Great Yin Demons that had supposedly been swallowed by the temple now transformed into twelve golden-skinned figures, standing frozen in place with completely expressionless faces.

Gazing at the twelve golden figures, a look of deep sentimentality surfaced upon the King of Yin Mountain's weathered, ancient face. "The Vajra Race..."

The Ghost Immortals of the various factions had no idea what the "Vajra Race" mentioned by the King of Yin Mountain represented. They only knew that in this brief clash between the King of Yin Mountain and the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire, the King of Yin Mountain had clearly fallen at a disadvantage. He hadn't even been able to force the first emperor to personally make a move. Instead, he had suffered a setback at the hands of the first emperor's puppets.

The gazes directed toward the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire grew increasingly solemn. The playing field had completely transformed. Monarch Yan was getting increasingly outshined. Instead, this newly arrived first emperor of the Black Sun Empire seemed far more likely to successfully seize the Eighteen Heavens Prison Tower.

Fang Chen's gaze grew heavy, a trace of astonishment rising within his heart. The Vajra Race...

Logically speaking, the Vajra Race was highly likely still thriving within the Divine Realm. Perhaps Saint Chiyan had already passed away, but there was bound to be a new powerhouse who had achieved Sainthood.

"Could it be that during the migration of the Human Race, Half Saint Jinwu went out of his way to slaughter a few members of the Vajra Race, binding their souls to bring into this space, and ultimately refining them into Yin Demon puppets?"

"King of Yin Mountain, you cannot even defeat the Twelve Golden Immortals under my command. Should you not carefully reconsider which side you ought to stand on?" the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire said with a faint smile.

The King of Yin Mountain replied calmly, "There is no need for consideration. Although these twelve Vajra Race puppets are difficult to handle, they are not enough to leave me utterly helpless. If we truly push this to a bitter end, every single one of them will die, and I will tear a piece of flesh right off your body as well. Do you dare to take that gamble?"

"Is that so?"

The smile on the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire's face vanished, his countenance turning so dark it looked as though it could drip water.

The King of Yin Mountain laughed. "If you weren't terrified of exactly that, why would you rely solely on your puppets to trade blows with me instead of striking yourself?"

It seemed they had hit yet another deadlock.

The onlookers exchanged glances, only just realizing the truth. The first emperor of the Black Sun Empire might very well have been wary of the King of Yin Mountain all along. That was why he never personally made a move. ℯℯ𝑙.

The leading Ghost Immortals of the Upper Three Realms secretly mused. I thought the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire was simply too proud to bother attacking personally. Now that I think about it, he must have known the King of Yin Mountain still holds an ace up his sleeve.

"It seems this Underworld is far from peaceful. Is this first emperor of the Black Sun Empire truly the founding emperor of the Black Sun Empire?"

In a patch of void not far away, the monk with the treacherous countenance grinned broadly at Shao Guangyin.

"Yes. According to historical records, this individual is indeed the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire. Everyone assumed he had fallen during the chaotic era of the Three Realms, but who would have thought he managed to live out a second life in the Underworld? He might not be any weaker than he had been during his peak," noted Shao Guangyin indifferently.

The monk chuckled deviously. "You haven't even clarified this kind of intelligence, yet you have the nerve to harbor designs on the Underworld? No matter. No matter how strong he is, he's still just a ninth transformation and hasn't taken that final step. As long as the one behind you arrives in time, and our clan's emperor arrives as well, then whether it's the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire, the King of Yin Mountain, or Monarch Fang, all of them will have to step aside."

Shao Guangyin replied, "If only it were truly that simple."

The first emperor of the Black Sun Empire cast a glance at the Eighteen Heavens Prison Tower in the sky, then smiled faintly. "At any rate, there is still a bit of time left. Reconsider carefully. In the realm you and I occupy, a single wrong choice will doom us to eternal damnation."

The King of Yin Mountain shook his head with a smile. "Not necessarily."

Not a single trace of fear was visible in his eyes. He seemed entirely set on standing firmly by the contemporary Monarch Yan's side.

Seeing his utterly unyielding demeanor, the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire suddenly put forth a suggestion. "King of Yin Mountain, how about we first dispose of these entirely inconsequential fellows?"

The faces of the Ghost Immortals stiffened.

Inconsequential?
