Immortal Cultivation: Starting from a Pharmacy Apprentice
Chapter 338: The Disturbance Will Subside
Chapter 338: Chapter 338: The Disturbance Will Subside
Seven days later, a single scarlet Pill was ready.
Its crimson hue came from the few bloody threads within the clod of earth, a clear sign of its remarkable quality.
The Pill Formula was also an ancient one from a Secret Realm.
Bai Mo was gradually getting the hang of it. While he couldn’t compare to the exaggerated tales of predecessors who could form a Pill from a mere wisp of moonlight, he had begun to grasp some of its profound mysteries.
When it came to the Alchemy Dao, it was truly more than just the changing properties of medicinal ingredients. There was something else, something ineffable, that could grant a Pill extraordinary effects.
’So what the predecessors said about one’s merits and character being infused into a Pill is probably true.’
’Truly marvelous.’
Bai Mo pushed open the door and stepped out, his eyes immediately falling on Li Wuji, who was busy teasing the badger.
Ah Er didn’t look much different than usual, except for the faint demonic aura unique to Demon Beasts rippling from its body.
Having consumed pills and refined their medicinal energies, its demonic aura was already faint. In a little more time, he believed it could be purified even further.
Li Wuji looked over, his face etched with frustration.
"So fast? I thought you would need the better part of a month."
Bai Mo stuffed the Pill into Ah Er’s paw.
"This isn’t one of Brother Yin’s Pills. Its quality is a far cry from his."
"How much time could it take?"
With that, he ordered Ah Er to take the Pill.
"You have to take this Pill while it’s hot, before its medicinal power dissipates."
Upon hearing this, Ah Er brought a paw to its mouth. With a gulp, the Pill slid down its throat and into its belly.
Its eyes darted about. It knew instinctively that this Pill would be incredibly beneficial for it.
Before it could savor the feeling, a wave of heat surged up from its stomach. In that instant, its eyes rolled back, and it fell flat on its back.
Seeing foam frothing at the corners of Ah Er’s mouth as its body spasmed and convulsed, Li Wuji couldn’t help but ask:
"Will it be alright?"
Bai Mo glanced over and then looked away.
"It’s fine. This is a normal reaction to taking the Pill."
Li Wuji sighed.
"Junior Brother, you asked me to train your Spirit Beast... But who would have thought? While your Spirit Beast is clever and hardworking, it’s remarkably dense when it comes to cultivation."
"I tried multiple times, but all I managed to do was agitate it and trigger a flare-up of its qi and blood."
Bai Mo nodded, not particularly disappointed.
’He never expected a Demon Beast he just picked up to be a heaven-gifted genius.’
’The fact that it was diligent and reliable was enough.’
"Has any news come in these past few days?"
Bai Mo was asking about the Unpassable River Sea Eye.
Li Wuji shook his head.
"Not yet. But this very silence means a big move is coming."
As he spoke, he took his leave.
"I still haven’t finished my cave dwelling. I’ve delayed long enough. I should get back to digging it out."
Bai Mo saw him off.
Another five days passed, and sure enough, disciples from the Foreign Affairs Hall arrived, followed by burly disciples from the Battle Hall.
They resembled a funeral procession, with five large coffins held steady by rough hands at the rear, a truly eye-catching sight.
’Five great Nascent Soul Cultivators...’
Working in this black jail, Bai Mo couldn’t help but get the false impression that Nascent Soul Cultivators weren’t all that.
When it came to the Sea Eye, the great cultivators in the jail were like fattened pigs for the New Year festival—easily expended.
"Junior Brother Bai, the Foreign Affairs Hall token. Please inspect it."
Bai Mo, familiar with the routine, finished inspecting it and welcomed the men through the gateway.
The group of twenty-three had just filed through the gateway when they caught a faint, gamey scent.
Tracing the scent to its source, they saw it came from a Demon Beast with sleek, glossy fur hanging upside down nearby.
A large man from the Battle Hall raised an eyebrow and immediately spoke.
"Junior Brother, you don’t understand. For a Demon Beast of this quality, the right thing to do is to throw it straight into the pot. That’s when the flavor is freshest."
"If you go and air-dry or cure it, the flavor just won’t be as good."
Ah Er’s body twitched unconsciously.
Bai Mo couldn’t help but say, "Senior Brother must be joking. This is the Spirit Beast I’m raising."
"It’s at a critical moment of taking a Pill to purify its bloodline. We’ll see if it can be of great use in the future."
Hearing this, the large man quickly gave it another look. Then, with a look of realization, he gave a thumbs-up.
"From the looks of it, the Pill’s effects are excellent. That must be no ordinary Pill."
"Among us disciples of Broken Blade Peak, few are as extravagant as you. Very good."
Bai Mo smiled. With important matters at hand, he didn’t dare chat any longer and simply led the group into the black jail.
CLANK! CLANK! CLANK!
The chains fell, and the prison gate swung open.
A group of Battle Hall disciples, fierce as wolves and tigers, pushed the coffins into the prison.
The chosen great Nascent Soul Cultivators all rose to their feet, their rage uncontainable.
"Juniors, you’ve gone too far!"
"Let’s fight them..."
Even trapped, the lions and tigers still possessed their majestic might.
Five terrifying auras burst forth, creating sonic booms.
In just an instant, the bones of the Battle Hall disciples carrying the coffins issued cracking sounds. They seemed to shrink on the spot, their bodies slamming into the wooden railings.
As for Bai Mo, his vision suddenly went black, his hearing distorted, and he lost all five senses.
The pressure lasted for an instant. The next moment, accompanied by several muffled groans, the might of the five great Nascent Soul Cultivators was broken.
A terrifying, mountain-like pressure descended, crushing them until a mist of blood burst from their bodies.
Immediately after, the five were stuffed into the coffins without any resistance.
The black jail’s restrictions were taking effect.
A Battle Hall disciple walked out carrying a coffin, spat out a mouthful of bloody foam, a disgruntled expression on his face.
"Damn it. How many times have they tried this in jail? Still haven’t learned their lesson?"
"I hear a lot of heretics and demonic cultivators have gathered at the Unpassable River again. Maybe some of their disciples and grand-disciples are there."
"Wouldn’t it be better to save their strength to escape then?"
It was just a few casual complaints. They were already used to minor injuries like this and treated it as if nothing had happened.
The group carried the coffins out.
The prisoners in the black jail were expressionless, calmly watching the scene unfold.
"Five Nascent Souls... Is the Unpassable River Sea Eye going to be completely suppressed?"
"They probably won’t be coming to pick more people."
"Heh. That bunch from the Sea Race are still no real threat. Back when I visited, I crossed swords with them..."
Outside the jail, Bai Mo recorded the information into the token and returned it.
"We’re off. We’ll be back in a while."
"Over at the Unpassable River, we might even be able to catch a few demon lords trying to fish in troubled waters."
"Maybe we can even bring back a member of the Sea Race for you, Junior Brother, to broaden your horizons."
The large man from the Battle Hall who had spoken with Bai Mo waved goodbye.
He seemed to feel a sense of camaraderie with this junior brother, who was also from Broken Blade Peak.
Bai Mo bid them farewell and watched as the group boarded two massive Flying Ships.
Li Wuji approached from the side. He hadn’t come closer earlier, having intentionally waited for the people from the Foreign Affairs Hall to leave.
"So? How many Nascent Souls did they take?"
Bai Mo said softly, "Five."
"Like they were nothing but small fry. Just dragged away like that."
Li Wuji snorted softly.
"Out in the world, people like us would need a Nascent Soul demon lord’s permission just to get close. Their vicious subordinates alone would be more than we could handle."
"The slightest mistake, the slightest annoyance to one of them, and they could kill us without even lifting a hand."
"You haven’t seen them in their prime."
Bai Mo nodded lightly. He certainly felt no sympathy for them.
Noticing Li Wuji’s clean clothes, Bai Mo couldn’t help but ask.
"Senior Brother, your cave dwelling..."
Li Wuji said, "It’s almost done."
"I came over this time to tell you, Junior Brother, that the elder I need to visit has returned. I’m heading over to see him now."
"I’m afraid I’ll be gone for five or six days."
Bai Mo understood.
"Go on then, Senior Brother. I hope you find a way to achieve Breaking Realm!"
Li Wuji waved his hand, his expression unruffled.
Without another word, he took a few steps and released an old, long-unused Flying Ship.
The Flying Ship activated, and he quickly vanished into the distance.
