Immortal Ascension Through Marriage: Investing in My Wife Get Returns
Chapter 403: Regeneration Is Not Immortality
“Your husband has fallen,” he declared. “Now it is your turn!”
He began walking toward the Golden Immortal Beast.
Each step caused the broken ground beneath his feet to disintegrate, and the space around his body twisted beneath the pressure of his enhanced cultivation.
Bai Qingyue did not retreat.
The Sun Shooting Bow glowed in her hands, and the Weapon Spirit began drawing together the accumulated solar resonance.
She knew that Bai Sha was dangerous.
She knew that his strength had increased after every resurrection.
But she also knew that Lin Yuan had not been defeated so easily.
The dust within the crater suddenly moved.
At first, the movement was almost imperceptible, a slight disturbance beneath the broken stone. Then a faint golden-purple light emerged from the darkness, illuminating the pulverized ground from within.
Bai Sha stopped walking.
His golden eyes narrowed.
The light grew brighter.
Silver-blue rain began rising from the crater, each droplet carrying a faint trace of Origin energy. Golden-purple thunder flickered between the droplets, and the surrounding space trembled as the two principles began circulating together once more.
A figure slowly rose from the depths.
Lin Yuan’s crimson robes were torn and covered in dust, and a thin line of blood ran from the corner of his mouth. Yet his body remained upright, and the light within his deep purple eyes had not dimmed.
He looked at Bai Sha.
Then he glanced toward Bai Qingyue, confirming that she remained unharmed.
Only after that did he return his attention to the Demon Lord.
Bai Sha’s expression darkened.
“You survived?”
Lin Yuan wiped the blood from his mouth.
“Was that supposed to kill me?”
The question was delivered in such a calm tone that several demons instinctively stepped backward.
Lin Yuan’s True Elemental Body had endured the impact, although the force had inflicted damage that could not be ignored. His Five Great Secret Realms continued circulating, drawing upon their different principles to stabilize his body and restore the damaged internal structures.
The Qilin Secret Realm reinforced his physical strength.
The Azure Dragon Secret Realm supplied vitality.
The Black Tortoise Secret Realm anchored his body and helped resist the lingering force of Bai Sha’s attack, while the Vermilion Bird and White Tiger Secret Realms contributed their own qualities to the circulation.
His Dao Fruit of Three Rebirths continued rotating within his Primordial Spirit.
The golden-purple thunder and silver-blue rain had not vanished.
They had merely been disrupted.
Lin Yuan understood that the battle had reached a dangerous turning point. Bai Sha’s repeated resurrections were increasing his combat strength, and the Demon Lord had already demonstrated the ability to overpower the Rain Dragon through sheer physical force.
Repeating the same attacks without adapting would eventually place Lin Yuan at a disadvantage.
He needed to find the mechanism behind Bai Sha’s nineteen lives.
More importantly, he needed to determine whether the White Tiger’s regeneration could be separated from the power he gained through each resurrection.
Lin Yuan raised his right hand.
The surrounding rain began gathering around his fingers.
Bai Sha watched him with a predatory smile.
“Good,” the Demon Lord growled. “I was beginning to think the Human Couple had finally run out of surprises.”
His muscles contracted, and the slaughter intent surrounding his body spread across the battlefield.
“Come, Lin Yuan. Show me how many times you can survive before your body finally breaks.”
Lin Yuan’s eyes narrowed.
The Rain Dragon began taking shape behind him, but this time, the silver-blue water did not immediately gather into a single enormous body. Instead, countless droplets remained suspended throughout the surrounding space, each carrying a trace of Origin energy and a faint thread of golden-purple thunder.
Bai Sha’s gaze shifted toward the rain.
For the first time, the Demon Lord’s expression revealed a hint of uncertainty.
The previous Rain Dragon had concentrated its power into a single manifestation, allowing him to target the connection sustaining its form. If Lin Yuan had changed the structure of the spell, then the same method might no longer work.
Lin Yuan smiled faintly.
“You have nineteen lives,” he repeated. “But you seem to have forgotten something.”
Bai Sha’s golden eyes narrowed.
“What?”
Lin Yuan raised his hand, and every droplet of Origin Rain in the surrounding sky began to tremble.
“Regeneration is not immortality.”
The thunder intensified.
“And a life that can be consumed…”
Lin Yuan’s Dao Fruit rotated, revealing the profound circulation of Three Rebirths within its depths.
“…can also be exhausted.”
For the first time since his arrival, Bai Sha did not immediately charge.
The Demon Lord stood at the edge of the enormous crater, his silver-white fur illuminated by the golden-purple thunder gathering around Lin Yuan. The crimson scars across his chest continued to glow, but the expression in his golden eyes had changed.
He had expected the Human Couple to be strong.
He had not expected Lin Yuan to survive his enhanced physical attack and immediately begin searching for the weakness behind his bloodline ability.
The surrounding demons remained silent.
The orthodox cultivators watched with renewed hope, while Bai Qingyue held the Sun Shooting Bow at the ready, prepared to support her husband the instant he required assistance.
Above them, the corrupted sky continued to churn.
The Nine Provinces were still collapsing beneath the invasion, and the Imperial Domain remained beyond their reach. Countless lives depended upon the outcome of the battle unfolding over the Grand Court.
Yet neither Lin Yuan nor Bai Sha looked away from the other.
One possessed nineteen lives and grew stronger whenever death consumed another phantom Primordial Spirit.
The other possessed an Origin Dao Fruit capable of perceiving the deeper principles governing life, death, and rebirth.
Their next exchange would determine whether Bai Sha’s bloodline was truly an endless source of power or merely another law that could eventually be understood and overcome.
The golden-purple thunder descended.
And the White Tiger finally prepared to fight with everything he possessed.
