Chapter 427: Chapter 173: Zhao Xin’s Progress

Just then, Jue Gen appeared.

“Senior Sister Jin Xin, how was your assessment today?” Jue Gen’s voice interrupted Xu Lei and Zhao Xin’s conversation, his eyes sweeping back and forth between them with a hint of subtle wariness.

Zhao Xin smiled gently. “Junior Brother Jue Gen, I didn’t pass the assessment again today, but I’ll keep working hard.”

Jue Gen nodded, then turned to Xu Lei, his gaze turning scrutinizing. “And this is?”

Xu Lei met Jue Gen’s gaze calmly and smiled. “I am Xu Lei, and my Daoist name is Liao Chen. I was just asking Senior Sister Jin Xin about the assessment chamber. She was kind enough to share her experience, and I’ve learned a great deal.”

A look of relief appeared on Jue Gen’s face. He clapped Xu Lei on the shoulder and said with a laugh, “Ah, so you’re a new junior brother. If there’s anything you don’t understand in the future, just ask me. My father is Yuan Kong, so I know my way around the Sun Palace pretty well.”

Xu Lei nodded his thanks, and Jue Gen’s suspicion seemed to vanish.

Just then, Zhao Xin gave a slight cough to draw Jue Gen’s attention. “Junior Brother Jue Gen, there’s something I need to tell you.”

A flicker of delight flashed in Jue Gen’s eyes. “Senior Sister Jin Xin, whatever you need, just say the word.”

Zhao Xin took a deep breath, her tone firm. “Junior Brother Jue Gen, I appreciate your kind intentions, but I have to be clear with you. I don’t have romantic feelings for you. I hope you can understand and stop pursuing me.”

The smile on Jue Gen’s face froze. A flicker of disappointment crossed his eyes, but it was quickly replaced by determination. “Senior Sister Jin Xin, I understand what you’re saying. But I believe that if I’m persistent enough, one day I’ll be able to win your heart.”

Zhao Xin shook her head, resigned. “Junior Brother Jue Gen, you can’t force matters of the heart. I understand your persistence, but I can’t accept it.”

But Jue Gen was unmoved, a stubborn glint in his eyes. “No. I won’t give up so easily. I will make you see how sincere I am. I’ll make you fall in love with me.”

Zhao Xin sighed. She knew she couldn’t convince Jue Gen and could only hope that time would change things.

Xu Lei stood to one side, silently observing their conversation.

‘Looks like Jue Gen’s feelings for Zhao Xin run deep,’ he mused. ‘This will undoubtedly cause some trouble.’

“Well, Junior Brother Jue Gen, I’m a bit tired. I’d like to go back and rest now,” Zhao Xin said softly, turning to leave.

Jue Gen quickly stepped forward, blocking her path. “Senior Sister Jin Xin, let me walk you back.”

Zhao Xin frowned slightly. “There’s no need. I’ll go back by myself. Please, don’t follow me.”

But Jue Gen stuck to her like glue.

Xu Lei watched them leave.

Afterward, Xu Lei returned to his own quarters, his conversation with Zhao Xin still echoing in his mind.

He knew he had to cultivate even harder to establish himself in the Celestial Palace and protect the people he cherished.

He once again immersed himself in the Cultivation of the Nine Dragon Pattern Seal. As time passed, Xu Lei felt the halo within his Dantian gradually solidify, and the Magical Power in his body flowed with increasing smoothness.

The effects of the Nine Dragon Pattern Seal were truly extraordinary, greatly boosting his Cultivation efficiency.

Night fell, bringing with it a profound tranquility.

As the sun set, the Celestial Palace was plunged into darkness.

This was because the Celestial Palace was merely high in the atmosphere, not in outer space.

It was still subject to the sun, so when the sun went down, it naturally became dark.

Once everything had quieted down, Xu Lei crept to the outside of Zhao Xin’s residence.

He gave a light knock. Zhao Xin, as if on cue, immediately opened the door. When they saw each other, no words were necessary; everything was understood.

“Uncle Hui Chi, you’re here.” Zhao Xin’s voice trembled slightly, clearly showing she was both excited and nervous about his arrival.

Xu Lei nodded and said softly, “Xin’er, I’ve come to offer you some Charitable Giving.”

“Come, come,” Zhao Xin laughed. “Give me Charitable Giving until I die from it. Hurry and get in here.”

Zhao Xin excitedly embraced Xu Lei, feeling the warmth of his body.

They kissed, then began to take off each other’s clothes.

Seeing Zhao Xin’s beautiful body, clad only in a bodice, Xu Lei was overcome with excitement.

After all, he was a young man in his prime.

“Xin’er, you’re so delicate,” Xu Lei couldn’t help but exclaim. “Just like a young maiden who’s never borne a child.”

“As long as you like it,” Zhao Xin laughed. “I only look the part. You, on the other hand, are a genuine youth. Let your big sister give you some pleasure, little Uncle Hui Chi!”

Then, Zhao Xin pulled Xu Lei to the bath, for which she had already prepared the water. The two bathed together intimately.

Afterward, they embraced as they made their way to the bed.

Zhao Xin lay on her stomach, letting Xu Lei give her Charitable Giving as fiercely as he had in the Mortal World.

Holding Zhao Xin, Xu Lei began his frantic lovemaking.

「The next morning.」

The two were wrapped in each other’s arms in bed.

Zhao Xin mused, wondering aloud if she was supposed to give Xu Lei a red envelope now.

Xu Lei just smiled and said she could pay him back with her body.

And then, he gave her more Charitable Giving.

Zhao Xin then asked him, “Uncle Hui Chi, do you like your big sister?”

Xu Lei nodded. “I do. Uncle Hui Chi likes his big sister Xinxin.”

This was because Zhao Xin had suggested the previous night that they could each call the other by their own pet names.

Zhao Xin would continue calling Xu Lei “Uncle Hui Chi,” while Xu Lei would call her “Big Sister Xinxin.”

Of course, this was only for when they were in private.

After all, they couldn’t publicly act as Dao Companions.

After that, Xu Lei stopped leaving Zhao Xin’s residence, moving in to live with her.

It wasn’t unusual for a Cultivator to remain indoors for several months, or even a year or two, while focused on their Cultivation.

「Three more days passed in a flash.」

That morning, Xu Lei awoke in Zhao Xin’s bed. She was already up and preparing breakfast.
