Immortal after a Hundred Reincarnations
Chapter 395 163: Zhao Xin's Ascension
It would be terrible if anyone figured it out. His descendants would likely be hunted down and slaughtered by his enemies.
Of course, Xu Lei could scatter his descendants far and wide, having them live their lives without openly acknowledging their lineage.
But ultimately, it was best if the truth never came out.
Besides, Zhao Xin was old now. A confession would just make things awkward between them.
"You two have made good progress with your Cultivation!"
Zhao Xin nodded with a smile. "And what a handsome man and beautiful woman—a perfect match! Wonderful, wonderful. Congratulations! I always said you were a lucky one, Little Bai Ling!"
In any case, the group sat together, had a bite to eat, and exchanged pleasantries.
Xu Lei had planned on just making small talk and leaving it at that; after all, he had no intention of revealing his identity.
"I've come here to catch a Spirit Monster."
To his surprise, however, Zhao Xin suddenly said, "Since the two of you are also roaming the world looking for Spirit Monsters, why not travel with me? Of course, I haven't figured out exactly where this Spirit Monster is yet.
It's just that a junior of mine said they once sensed Demonic Qi in this area. That's why I suspect there might be a Spirit Monster nearby. I was hoping you could help me out. After all, I'm not sure I can find it on my own."
Hearing Zhao Xin's request, Xu Lei and Bai Ling naturally had no reason to refuse.
So, the two of them began traveling with Zhao Xin.
That evening, the three of them checked into an inn.
Zhao Xin, of course, took her own room, while Xu Lei and Bai Ling shared another.
Unexpectedly, the inn only had two high-class rooms left, so they ended up staying in adjacent rooms.
At night, Xu Lei and Bai Ling were bathing together.
"Is Ling'er better, or is she?"
Bai Ling hugged and kissed Xu Lei, demanding, "Tell me!"
Xu Lei was momentarily at a loss for words.
He actually thought they were both wonderful, but that didn't seem to be the answer Bai Ling was looking for.
"Fine, I won't press you," Bai Ling said. "After all, you and her... that was in a past life."
"You're mine now, and that's enough for me!"
Xu Lei smiled and said no more. After they finished their bath, he carried Bai Ling to the bed. Once he had dried her hair, he began the Charitable Giving.
"Who was wilder, her or me?"
But Bai Ling wasn't done. "It's me, right?" she asked.
Xu Lei felt a bit helpless. Bai Ling just had to compare herself to Zhao Xin.
"Her."
After a moment's thought, Xu Lei said, "She was a bit wilder."
"What?"
Bai Ling was stunned. "You're saying I'm not enough? She was even wilder than me?"
Xu Lei nodded.
"I refuse to accept that!"
"Tell me what she was like," Bai Ling insisted. "Anything she could do, I can do! I'll be even better than her!"
Xu Lei just smiled and proceeded to invent some outrageously wild acts, hoping to discourage Bai Ling from comparing herself to Zhao Xin any further.
"Then should Ling'er give them a try?"
To his surprise, Bai Ling said, "It sounds a little extreme, but Ling'er wants to treat you well—better than she ever did! As long as it doesn't kill me, it's fine. Ling'er's body is yours to honor! You can do whatever you want with it! Just don't give Ling'er to any other man!"
Xu Lei couldn't help but feel moved. He held Bai Ling and kissed her.
"What are you even thinking? How could that ever happen?"
Then Xu Lei said, "Silly girl. You're mine alone. No other man can ever touch you! Only I am allowed to perform Charitable Giving, no one else!"
「The next day.」
"Young people certainly are passionate."
Seeing Xu Lei and Bai Ling, Zhao Xin couldn't help but remark, "You two were cultivating rather late last night!"
"Our apologies, Senior. I hope we didn't disturb your rest last night?"
Xu Lei added, "It's our fault. We got a little too loud."
Xu Lei hadn't wanted to make any noise.
But his answer had spurred Bai Ling on, and she had insisted on crying out without restraint. Xu Lei had been unable to stop her.
His only option had been to try and tire her out quickly so she would quiet down and go to sleep.
"Not at all, not at all."
Zhao Xin laughed. "You're young. I understand. After all, I was young once, too."
"You must have been very beautiful when you were young!"
Bai Ling added, "When you were with your Dao Companion, things must have been pretty intense, right?"
"I'm old now. Let the past stay in the past."
Zhao Xin said, "Come on. Let's walk around and see if we can find that Spirit Monster."
Afterward, the three of them traveled on, wandering through several nearby cities.
「Half a month passed in the blink of an eye.」
Unexpectedly, there really was a Spirit Monster in the area, and it was disguised quite well.
However, it was discovered by Bai Ling's Creepy Spirit.
It turned out to be a camel that had become a Spirit Monster. In a border city, it had taken the guise of a portly, middle-aged man and opened an inn, where it preyed on low-status travelers, draining them dry.
Zhao Xin's junior must have discovered this Demon when passing through.
So they made a move, but unexpectedly, they were no match for the Demon.
Hunting Demons was like that. Success was never guaranteed; sometimes, you could end up losing your own life in the process.
Once they found it, Xu Lei's group of three immediately took action.
Bai Ling's White Silk Magical Artifact flew out, attempting to entangle the Camel Demon.
But the Camel Demon was surprisingly fierce.
It opened its mouth and with a roar, blasted out a gust of air that sent the White Silk Magical Artifact flying.
It also punched Bai Ling's Flying Sword away; its hand had taken the shape of a hoof, hard enough to block the Flying Sword directly. It was quite powerful.
Bai Ling had thought her Flying Sword would be able to slay the Camel Demon outright.
Just then, Xu Lei also made his move, firing his Shotgun.
