I'm the Only Magus in This Witch World
Chapter 82: Ruthless Magna (Golden Ticket & Power stone Bonus)
Magna was too fast, so fast that Renna couldn’t find a way to counter his attack.
To force him back, she raised her foot and stomped the ground, sending a loud bang echoing across the whole arena.
A sudden wave of heat and dust hit Magna’s face, making him pause for a split second as he shielded it with his hands.
He certainly hadn’t expected a single stomp to unleash that much power.
But not letting it stop his momentum, he quickly steadied himself, kicked off the ground to launch his body forward even faster, and pushed straight through the heat hitting his face until he was already right in front of her.
Seeing her attempt fail, Renna gritted her teeth and threw a punch straight at him.
Unfortunately her speed didn’t match her strength, and Magna easily dodged it with a side step. Without breaking his momentum, he followed up with a spinning side kick.
The painful blow to the side of her stomach threw off Renna’s balance, sending her stumbling a few steps to the side.
After landing a clean hit, Magna backed off as well.
’Damn, my foot almost burned,’ he thought, shaking his foot, faint smoke rising from the shoe that had struck her.
His eyes had also gone slightly red from the dryness. He was blinking twice as often as usual just to keep them moist.
If it weren’t for his high stamina and endurance, he was sure he would have already started losing too much fluid from the heat, feeling too exhausted to keep fighting.
"Had enough already?" he asked, looking at the girl who was gritting her teeth while holding her stomach.
She didn’t look ready to give up at all. If anything, she looked even angrier.
’Looks like I need to do more to make her quit,’ Magna thought, and not wanting to give her the chance to chant a spell, he rushed forward again.
Seeing him coming, Renna raised her fists again, taking her guard, and this time threw a punch straight at his face.
Nevertheless, it missed its mark again, only to have another kick, this time to the back of her leg, throw off her balance.
"You’re full of openings," Magna commented, watching the girl drop to one knee.
Without stopping, he followed up with another kick, this time aimed at her head, giving her no chance to get back up.
Renna managed to raise her arm at the last second to shield her head, but the kick still hit hard enough to send her body sprawling to the ground.
Watching her granddaughter get hit again and again from the sidelines, Rowena’s mouth hung wide open.
A child beating a 5th Trial Witch whose bloodline trait boosted physical power was something she never thought she’d witness in her lifetime.
And this was without him being a Shadow at all.
Of course Reanna wasn’t using any spell as well, which was usually a Witch’s greatest strength. Still, it was almost too unbelievable to watch.
Not ready to give up yet, Renna pushed herself back up. "You little..."
This time she was truly angry, and she finally began to chant a spell.
"O Eclipse of the Fading Sun, Darkness that has gathered since before the First..."
Just before she could even finish the honored names, Magna was already standing in front of her.
"Nope, you’re not allowed to do that," he said, driving a Spartan kick into her stomach that sent her body flying back several meters.
After the last kick, Magna also started to feel pain in his feet.
He had been holding back to only use kicks so he wouldn’t burn his hands, but his shoes had already started turning black, and the tip of his right shoe had burned through enough to expose his big toe.
He had no time to let his feet cool though, since the girl had already started chanting again.
’Damn it, just give up,’ he thought, rushing at her again, this time aiming for her head to knock her unconscious.
He wanted this to be the final blow, since if the fight dragged on any longer, he was sure he would be the one to lose.
His eyes were already burning from the dryness, and even breathing had become difficult, his throat aching with every breath.
So without holding back, he raised his leg and swung his heel straight down toward the head of the still chanting girl, kneeling on the ground, to deliver the finishing blow.
But just before his heel connected, a cold hand caught it.
"That should be enough," Titus said, looking down at him.
He had already been standing ready the moment the match began, knowing exactly how ruthless Magna could get once a fight started.
It was as if Magna didn’t even understand what a friendly match was, going straight for the kill instead.
Titus was still remembering their last spar as the boy came directly at him with his daggers, aiming for his chest exactly to his heart.
Magna also only now realizing just how much force he’d been about to put into that last attack, felt genuinely relieved that Titus had stopped him.
Since all his fighting experience came from his cold-blooded assassin trait, every move he made was, at its core, built around killing. So more often than not, even he wasn’t fully aware that his attacks were always aimed at his opponent’s most lethal points.
After Titus released his leg, Magna stepped back, still watching the girl kneeling on the ground.
Her whole body was trembling as her hands clutched fistfuls of sand.
She wasn’t chanting anymore. Instied quiet sobs could be heard, and a few tears could be seen falling onto the dirt beneath her.
Magna let out a sigh, understanding that she wasn’t just crying because she’d lost.
No matter how grown up she seemed, she was still someone who had lost her mother not long ago.
Though Magna won the spar, the sight of her crying suddenly ruined his mood.
