I'm the Only Magus in This Witch World

Chapter 113: You’re the One Who Needs to Calm Down, Grandmother

  • Next Chapter

While Celeste was writing the letter, Rowena’s attention finally turned to her granddaughter.

"So tell me, what is this exciting thing you wanted to tell me?"

Currently Renna’s previous excitement was nowhere to be seen, since she had just been watching the whole conversation with a slightly furrowed brow.

The way Magna had apparently been treated made her slightly angry and displeased, but since there was nothing to say about it, as it was normal in her world, she kept quiet.

Only when her grandmother called out to her did her earlier demeanor slightly return.

"I’m sure you’ll lose your mind when you see it." She said with a grin.

Rowena, not knowing what to expect, stared in bewildered silence before asking, "Are you pregnant?"

It would be the only thing that could possibly make her lose her mind from shock.

"Are you even my grandmother?" Renna suddenly grew angry, her eyes flashing as her body temperature quickly began to rise.

"Calm down, dear. I’m just joking." Rowena, though she wasn’t really joking, had to lie to soothe her.

Renna needed a whole minute to calm herself down and let her anger subside, her body temperature finally returning to normal.

"I’ll just show you. I don’t want you to say a single word through it, okay?" She warned first, since almost everything that had come out of this old Witch’s mouth was only fueling her anger.

After getting a nod showing she understood and would cooperate, Renna closed her eyes and started the breathing exercises Magna had taught her.

While watching, Rowena felt slightly confused, since in her eyes Renna seemed to be doing something nonsensical, but she kept watching without saying a word.

Even Celeste kept glancing up from her parchment, driven by curiosity and high expectations for what Magna might have taught her.

Having witnessed Faye miraculously master her bloodline trait in a single night after a lesson from Magna, Celeste had every reason to expect a similar result now.

After about 10 seconds, Renna adjusted and sped up her blood flow, then moved into stage two, the adrenaline release phase.

This time there was no one throwing questions at her to push her into stress, but using the imagination method made her body remember that stress on its own.

With her heart pumping so fast and her blood circulating faster and faster through her body, her skin started to turn reddish.

"Hm?" Rowena, noticing this, suddenly gave her a strange look, turning quite surprised.

That was until she saw her body temperature start to rise, then a faint smoke begin to rise from her body. ℯℯ𝑙.

But it was the sparks, and the first flicker of fire coming off her body, that finally broke Rowena’s composure completely, making her suddenly jump to her feet and shout. "Renna, calm down now."

What she thought was that Renna was losing control of her anger and that she would soon start burning the whole room down.

It wasn’t just that this room didn’t belong to them, that it was another Witch’s property, but also that there were so many precious books and documents whose burning couldn’t be overlooked.

Yet even with all the fire rising off her body and the hot air around her, the only thing actually burning was her own body.

Even the ground beneath her feet, which would usually already be catching fire by now, looked completely untouched.

"You’re the one who needs to calm down, grandmother. I’m not losing control." Renna slowly opened her eyes and faintly smirked.

Only then did Rowena realize she was controlling her body temperature very well. "Wait... When did you learn to control your anger like this?"

This caught her completely unprepared.

Normally, once Renna’s bloodline trait activated to this level, she would have already fallen into rage mode by now, completely losing control.

Even Rowena herself lacked that level of control. Normally, the wooden floorboards beneath her would have already caught fire.

"Who said I’m angry?" Renna laughed, showing that she wasn’t feeling any anger or rage at all. Quite the opposite, she looked calm and even happy.

Rowena fixed her stare on her face, trying to tell if she was telling the truth.

It was nearly impossible to accept, yet the evidence right before her eyes made it indisputable.

She didn’t look angry or about to lose control at the moment, yet her bloodline trait was active.

"You found a way to activate it without anger?" She was sharp enough to finally understand.

But she still had to hold herself back from losing her mind. "How? When?"

Renna didn’t answer right away, waiting first for her temperature to start dropping and her blood flow to return to normal.

Then, once her red skin started turning back to its fair white color, she turned and said, pointing at Magna. "He taught me just recently, after dinner."

Rowena looked at Magna’s calm, even slightly foolish expression, as if he were saying ’What’s wrong?’

Then back at Renna’s grinning face.

"Is this some kind of joke?" She wanted someone to tell her it was some kind of trick, that they’d come up with an incredibly overpowered stunt clever enough to fool even an 11th Trial Witch like herself.

But the answer came from Celeste instead.

"No, Rowena, it’s not a joke. Congratulations, your granddaughter seems to have found a way to master her bloodline trait." She said quite calmly, with an emotionless face and voice, still writing her letter.

Apparently, after realizing what Renna was about to show, she had activated her serene state to hide her actual reaction.

"Celeste, are you part of this?" Rowena was still thinking this was some kind of joke being played on her.

"No. He also taught Faye something similar before, and now she can use her bloodline trait just as casually and skillfully."

Celeste had still been telling herself it was some kind of fluke, that Magna had just happened to find a way for Faye. But now, seeing Renna, she had to admit once again just what kind of monstrous genius he really was.

She wanted to tear up the letter she was writing right then and there and try to hide Magna away, but sadly, she had no chance of doing that now.

All she could do was hope the Tower would realize just how valuable he was, and take the utmost care of him.
