Chapter 1387: Chapter 544: A Surprise from Maisharui! The Five-colored Chicken Porridge Quest Missed the Mission Deadline!

"Lin Xu, the pig heads are here!"

Around three o’clock, Chen Meide’s family returned from visiting relatives. As soon as they got off the car, they shouted to Lin Xu.

Lin Xu, who was playing badminton with Shen Jiayue, put down his racket and walked over to the Toyota Prado parked by his uncle, where he saw two large pig heads and two big roosters in the trunk.

Judging by the size of these chickens, they must weigh more than eight pounds.

"In the past, you couldn’t buy anything before the fifth day of the Lunar New Year. Once the New Year starts, no one does business. But now, as long as you’re willing to pay, you can buy quite a lot of things, even on New Year’s Day."

The two pig heads were pre-ordered by Chen Meide from a familiar meat stall owner.

Originally, he thought the owner would refuse, but surprisingly, he agreed gleefully and even threw in two large bones.

Lin Xu took a look at the pig heads; they were quite large, just perfect for making Braised Whole Pig’s Head.

Carrying the pig heads, he said:

"Since the pig heads are here, I’ll prepare them now so we can stew them early tomorrow morning, ensuring they’re ready by lunchtime."

Braising a whole pig’s head requires simmering for more than five hours over low heat, allowing that special aroma to develop. The longer it stews, the richer the aroma and better the taste.

So, tomorrow morning, he would have to get up early and not sleep in.

He carried the pig heads into the kitchen, ready to start cooking. Meanwhile, Chen Meide took the two chickens to the cage where the goose was previously kept, opened the door, and put the chickens inside.

We won’t have time to cook them today, so we’ll keep them until we’re ready to eat.

As soon as the chickens were placed in the cage, Dundun peeked its head through the gap in the cotton curtain at the restaurant door and quickly dashed over, growling at the cage.

Yet, with its chubby figure, it lacked any semblance of ferocity and instead appeared adorably clumsy.

Shen Jiayue gently tapped its round head with a racket, chuckled, and said:

"Son, are you trying to charm these two chickens to death?"

Unimpressed, Dundun batted the racket away and continued to gape its tiny mouth, growling at the two chickens within the cage.

The roosters inside were utterly unfazed, even taking sips from the melted snow water within the cage, paying no mind to Dundun’s provocation.

For this determined little kitten, such indifference was intolerable.

It leaped onto the cage, bravely extending its paws inside, intending to swat the rooster on the head. However, as soon as it reached in, the rooster pecked its paw.

"Meow!!"

The little creature gave a startled cry and quickly jumped to the side.

Shen Jiayue helplessly picked it up:

"You can’t defeat them. Let me see if your paw is injured."

She carefully examined Dundun’s front paw, found no issues, and set it back on the ground, advising earnestly:

"In rural areas, roosters, big yellow dogs, and fat geese are collectively known as the ’three rural tyrants.’ It’s not just you, even mom wouldn’t dare to mess with them, so stay away, okay?"

She ruffled Dundun’s head and grabbed the badminton racket, ready to continue playing with auntie.

Dundun wasn’t giving up, circling the cage twice while the roosters inside followed suit, assuming a defensive stance.

The little creature didn’t launch another attack, instead jumping onto the pigsty wall, first shouting twice at the roosters, then pushing its head against the spade leaning against the wall.

Soon, the spade slid down, crashing straight onto the cage, knocking snow down and sending the roosters into a tizzy, clucking loudly in their startled state.

The little chubby cat on the wall regained its swagger, lifted its round head, jumped down from the wall like a victorious general, tail held high, and leisurely returned to the restaurant to resume warming itself by the fire.

In the kitchen, Lin Xu blanched the pig heads in a pot, then retrieved them to soak in cold water.

The meat contracted, causing the bristles on the Pork Skin to appear.

Taking the pig heads outside, he began singeing the hairs with a blowtorch.

Parts like the nostrils, eye sockets, behind the ears, and ear holes needed to be singed until the entire pig head was charred black, so the dish wouldn’t carry an unpleasant odor, enhancing the taste.

Amidst his busy work, his phone suddenly rang.

Lin Xu set down the torch, realizing it was Hou Dingshan, the deputy general of Meisharui, so he pressed the answer button and greeted cordially:

"Happy New Year, Mr. Hou!"

They had already exchanged New Year greetings on WeChat.

However, customary courtesy dictates that one can never be too polite, especially on New Year’s Day; the more blessings, the better.

"Happy New Year, Lin Xu! I watched your video; thank you for promoting Meisharui on New Year’s Day. It pleased our president greatly, and he’s considering renegotiating our contract."

Renegotiating the contract?

Curiously, Lin Xu asked:

"Mr. Hou, what do you mean by that?"

Do they feel offering one Meisharui is losing out?

Discussing this on New Year’s Day seems inappropriate.

Even debt collectors only chase debts on New Year’s Eve, not on New Year’s Day. Discussing the contract today seems somewhat inconsiderate.

Losing his train of thought, Hou Dingshan chuckled and said:

"Our president believes a one-year contract is too short. Since signing the deal, Meisharui elements frequently appear in your videos. You also embody Meisharui Group’s corporate values. Therefore, we intend to extend the promotional contract from one to four years, with fees adjusted proportionally upward from this year’s basis."
