Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Han Wenwen Joins

Little Fox’s behavior was exactly like that of a big boss’s secretary, and she had done this more than once recently. However, this enthusiastic tissue-handing routine often made some of the boys jealous and sparked gossip among the girls.

Han Wenwen, however, clearly didn’t care about any of that.

Lin Zhengran thanked her and took the tissue. After using it, he tossed it into the trash can and headed back to the classroom with Han Wenwen.

Han Wenwen asked curiously, "What did Jiang Xueli want to talk to you about just now?"

"Nothing much."

Han Wenwen looked away, acting jealous. She complained in a low voice, yet perfectly pitched for Lin Zhengran to hear, "Fine, don’t tell me. I didn’t want to know anyway."

Lin Zhengran was speechless.

She shot him a covert glance and suddenly smiled. "Can you feel it, Lin Zhengran? It feels like something is coming, and it’s not a small matter."

Lin Zhengran looked at Han Wenwen, who was clearly just watching the drama unfold. She looked as though she already knew the answers beforehand, so he ignored her.

Han Wenwen stopped in her tracks and watched Lin Zhengran walk into the classroom, muttering unhappily to herself, "Lin Zhengran is so cold and aloof~"

She glanced toward the door of Class Three, where Jiang Xueli was currently talking to someone. Her face showed a mix of happiness and hesitation. Han Wenwen could more or less guess why she had come looking for Lin Zhengran.

Little Fox blinked, her gaze profound. "It seems I can’t just sit around and wait anymore either..."

That night, Xiao Heqing continued to stay up late under her covers, knitting needles and yarn in hand, working tirelessly until past one in the morning. Finally, after finishing the last section of the scarf, a delighted smile appeared on her lips. She gazed at the delicate, warm, and long scarf in her hands. "Finished!"

Saturday finally arrived.

The day was bright and clear, seemingly signaling a good day for big events.

In the morning, Jiang Xueli and Lin Zhengran took the bus home and parted ways at the intersection. "You big idiot, hurry over after you drop your stuff off."

Lin Zhengran raised his hand in response.

Jiang Xueli smiled and rushed straight home. She tossed her backpack onto the sofa and went to the bathroom to take a shower, brush her teeth, wash her hair, and clip her nails. Whenever Lin Zhengran kept her company in the past, Jiang Xueli would always go through this routine. Even her parents, who weren’t home, seemed accustomed to this and had affectionately left a note for their daughter:

"Lili, your dad and I aren’t home today. Take this money to buy something to eat. If Ranran comes over, you can buy a little extra to share with him."

After her shower, Jiang Xueli wrapped herself in a towel, tiny water droplets still clinging to her pale, youthful shoulders. Seeing the note and money her parents left by the sink, she smiled and set them aside. After blow-drying her hair, she began picking out a nice outfit from her wardrobe.

Ultimately, she chose a warm pink sweater, a pleated skirt, and a pair of fleece-lined sheer tights—every girl’s winter favorite. She checked her reflection in the mirror from side to side, feeling quite satisfied as her twin tails swished back and forth. Looking at the time, she figured the big idiot should be arriving soon.

She lay down on her bed and started searching for promotional photos of the new zoo that had just opened downtown.

"Big tigeys, big lions, and wittle bears~"

The more she looked, the more excited she got. At the same time, she grew increasingly nervous about her plan to invite Lin Zhengran to the zoo. As she browsed, she suddenly thought of He Qing and muttered to herself, "Wait, if He Qing really is going to confess to him soon, will just inviting him to the zoo be enough?"

She set her phone down, grabbed the fresh quilt her mother had prepared, and buried her face in it. "Probably not, right? After all..."

She blushed as she remembered certain things he had said in the past. "Didn’t he tell me before that he wanted me to follow him forever? Doesn’t that mean he wants to marry me when we grow up? That big idiot has always been a man of his word..."

She pounded the bed in embarrassment. "So shameful! I really don’t know how he manages to say such things to a girl! How can he be so shameless?" Jiang Xueli muttered to herself. "When you think about it, I’m the only one who would agree to it... What other girl would marry him and have his babies when they grow up?"

The doorbell rang. Jiang Xueli shot up from the bed. Confirming that someone was at the door, she happily hopped off, quickly straightened her clothes and hair, and checked the back of her pleated skirt for wrinkles. Once she was sure everything was perfect, she ran over.

"Coming! You got here so fast, you big idiot? I just finished changing."

She opened the door, and Lin Zhengran walked in with familiar ease. There was a pair of men’s slippers at the entrance prepared specifically for him. It was as if he had returned to his own home.

Lin Zhengran casually tapped her on the head. "Do you have a split personality or something? Weren’t you the one who told me to hurry over? Are your parents home?"
