I'm Pretending to Cultivate in Kindergarten
Chapter 51: Hubby, Ranran Brought a Girl Home Again
Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Hubby, Ranran Brought a Girl Home Again
Han Wenwen slept soundly in her rented apartment at noon.
With Lin Zhengran here, she felt much more at ease even in her sleep.
In the afternoon, she took her temperature again. It was basically back to normal. Han Wenwen said she needed to take a shower first and carefully pick out some clothes; otherwise, she couldn’t go to Lin Zhengran’s home.
Lin Zhengran felt there was no need to make such a big deal out of it. "Aren’t you afraid your fever will come back if you shower? Besides, you’re just going to my house to hang out. Freshening up a bit is enough."
Han Wenwen shuffled into the bathroom in her slippers. "Then just washing my hair is fine, right? After all, it’s my first time going to a boy’s house. I’m still very shy about it."
Lin Zhengran chuckled, having nothing more to say. "If you wash your hair, remember to blow-dry it. If you get a fever again, I won’t spend another night looking after you."
Han Wenwen smiled at him again. "Got it. Thank you for caring about me so much, Lin Zhengran."
Han Wenwen walked into the bathroom and closed the door. Blushing, she took slow, deep breaths. She thought, "I’m going to Lin Zhengran’s house to meet his parents..."
No one knew just how nervous the Little Fox was right now.
After washing and blow-drying her hair, she changed into an off-the-shoulder short-sleeved top and a skirt that reached her thighs.
Han Wenwen’s dressing style was vastly different from He Qing’s. One looked pure and sweet no matter what she wore, while the other always exuded a beautiful, alluring charm. Judging purely by their appearances, no one would ever guess that these two were the best of friends.
As Lin Zhengran brought Han Wenwen back to his house, her long hair draping over her shoulders caught the eyes of passersby wherever they went. Passersby couldn’t help but marvel at how such a beautiful girl could exist. Lin Zhengran was already accustomed to the hateful glares he received from guys his own age.
Since it was Saturday, Lin Xiaoli and Lin Yingjun weren’t at work. The couple was lounging on the sofa watching TV.
At home, Lin Xiaoli always played the role of an affectionate, clinging wife, resting against her husband’s chest and playing with his hand. Hearing a knock at the door, she asked curiously, "Who is it?"
"Mom, it’s me," Lin Zhengran answered from outside.
"Ranran is back? Why are you home so early today?" Lin Xiaoli said as she went to the door. She was just about to ask why he had returned so early when she opened the door and instantly saw Han Wenwen standing beside him.
That stunning, fox-like face caught Lin Xiaoli completely off guard.
With a blank expression and her brain short-circuiting, she murmured inwardly, "My goodness... Ranran brought another new girl home... And this girl is also so pretty! Each one is prettier than the last."
Han Wenwen was rarely this nervous. She offered a restrained smile and bowed slightly in greeting. "Hello, Mrs. Lin. My name is Han Wenwen. I’m Lin Zhengran’s classmate and desk mate."
"Oh, desk mate. Hello, Wenwen..."
Lin Xiaoli scrutinized Han Wenwen, then subconsciously turned her head in a panic. "Hubby! Hubby, come out quickly! Ranran is back! Come here, hurry!"
Watching TV, Lin Yingjun let out a puzzled sound. He thought, "Our son is just coming home, why is she calling me over?" He turned off the TV and walked over.
But the moment he saw the beautiful Han Wenwen, he froze too—they truly were a married couple, reacting in the exact same way. Lin Yingjun muttered in a very low voice, "Why did he bring a girl home again... This is the third one..."
Lin Zhengran didn’t understand. "Mom, Dad, why are you spacing out?" He motioned to Han Wenwen. "Come inside with me. I’ll take you to my dad’s study." He walked into the house and said to Lin Yingjun, "Dad, you’re not using the computer today, right? My classmate and I are going to the study to play on the computer for a bit."
Han Wenwen also nodded politely at Lin Yingjun. "Hello, Mr. Lin. My name is Han Wenwen. Sorry for intruding on you and Mrs. Lin today."
"Hello, hello... Not an intrusion at all..."
The Little Fox changed her shoes and followed Lin Zhengran into the study, closing the door behind her.
In the silent living room, the couple still wore dazed expressions, unable to snap out of it.
After a long pause, Lin Xiaoli gently nudged her husband’s belly with her elbow. "Don’t you think Ranran is being a bit outrageous? Who does he take after? As his mother, I’ve only ever been in one relationship."
Lin Yingjun looked at his wife’s expression and gulped. "Why are you looking at me like that? You could say he takes after my handsome looks, but he definitely didn’t inherit this from me... You’re the only one I’ve ever dated too. Besides, our son is very traditional. They should just be friends. We shouldn’t overthink it."
"Even if they’re just friends... he wouldn’t strictly make friends with pretty girls, would he..." Lin Xiaoli stared blankly, full of curiosity. "Hubby, do you think Xiao Heqing and Sherrie know about this beautiful girl named Han Wenwen?"
Lin Yingjun clicked his tongue. "Hard to say. If they knew, I wouldn’t dare imagine the scene."
The couple exchanged a glance and let out a simultaneous sigh of shared understanding.
In the study, Han Wenwen watched Lin Zhengran sit down at the computer desk. Thinking back to what Mr. Lin had just murmured, she said, "Lin Zhengran, just now, Mr. and Mrs. Lin..."
Lin Zhengran booted up the computer and hummed in acknowledgment. "Do you think my parents’ reaction was a bit exaggerated? It’s fine. If you come over often, they won’t mind it anymore. They were like this when Jiang Xueli first came over too. You’ll get used to it."
Han Wenwen smiled, feeling a bit helpless. She thought, "Lin Zhengran really is popular with women. So detestable."
Lin Zhengran opened a game and let Han Wenwen play a match herself first while he watched. The games in this world were no different from his original world; ten-player competitive games similarly dominated the gaming industry.
Before starting, Han Wenwen warned him, "Let me tell you up front, I’m really bad at this game."
Lin Zhengran was dismissive. "It’s fine. Play against the bots first. How bad can you be? Don’t tell me you can actually..."
Half an hour later, Han Wenwen’s score against the bots was 0-17. She died almost the moment she left the base.
When the victory icon appeared on the screen, Han Wenwen cheered happily. "We won! Even though my teammates carried me, I still played a crucial role a few times, right? I had a pretty good feel for the game this match."
The Little Fox noticed Lin Zhengran’s utterly dark expression and asked playfully, "Why does your face look so scary, Lin Zhengran?"
Lin Zhengran took a heavy, deep breath and looked at Han Wenwen with a deadpan expression. "No wonder you said you didn’t make any money streaming before. With your skills, the dead skin on my heels could play better than you. Viewers would think you were deliberately insulting them."
Han Wenwen blinked her fox-like eyes and innocently pulled a bottle of lotion out of her pocket. "This can get rid of dead skin."
"What the heck!"
Lin Zhengran began to deliver an incredibly sharp critique of that bot match.
Han Wenwen listened, completely stunned, and muttered softly, "You’re so fierce, Lin Zhengran~"
Lin Zhengran stopped talking and glared at her with disdain. "What did you say?"
Sweating profusely, Han Wenwen covered half her face with one hand. "Keep going, I’m listening."
Lin Zhengran explained everything in meticulous detail, teaching Han Wenwen step by step. At first, Han Wenwen still couldn’t quite understand, but when he got hands-on and taught her seriously, she felt as if her mind had completely opened up.
"Oh! So that’s how you play! And what was that trick you mentioned, Lin Zhengran?"
"Every game has its tricks, and this one is no exception..."
As he spoke and taught, Han Wenwen, despite her poor gaming skills, was very earnestly using a small notebook to jot down all the positioning strategies and experiences Lin Zhengran mentioned.
In fact, she had studied these things online before, but she had remained just as terrible. Under Lin Zhengran’s guidance, however, she discovered she could actually remember it all, and she was learning at an incredibly fast pace.
Finally, after a few practice matches, Han Wenwen completely went on a rampage in her last bot match of the day.
Her score was 32-0.
When the word "Victory" appeared on the screen, Han Wenwen practically jumped for joy, her excitement overflowing. She had made a bot match feel like a professional game!
"I won! I’m so strong!" She looked at Lin Zhengran in pleasant surprise, stars shining in her eyes. "You’re so amazing, Lin Zhengran! I played so many times before but never got the hang of it, yet today I suddenly became so good!"
Lin Zhengran let out an approving chuckle. He thought, "It’s a good thing I was the one teaching her, with the double bonus from my various skills. Otherwise... there really would be no hope for this Fox’s gaming streams."
Lin Zhengran offered reassurance. "As long as there’s progress, that’s what matters. I’ll teach you step by step every day for the next month. In about a month, you’ll reach a level where you can start making videos. Once you add voiceovers, with your voice and skilled gameplay, you’ll be able to make money even if you only upload edited highlight reels."
Han Wenwen was thrilled. "Then should I come straight to find you tomorrow, Lin Zhengran? My fever is pretty much gone anyway, and after that last match, I really feel like I can make money through gaming!"
Lin Zhengran rejected the idea. "No, you don’t need to come tomorrow and the day after. Because for the next two days, I’ll be accompanying Jiang Xueli for her singing practice."
The joyful Han Wenwen suddenly froze. She then pouted, turned her head away with a hmph, and said passive-aggressively, "You sure are busy, Lin Zhengran."
Lin Zhengran was speechless. "What the heck is with that expression?"
Han Wenwen looked back at him, fixing her soul-stealing fox eyes directly on his. "Can’t you see that I’m jealous, Lin Zhengran?"
"I can tell," Lin Zhengran replied. "You’re still sick."
Unknowingly, a month of training time quietly slipped by, and the summer vacation passed the halfway mark in the blink of an eye.
