"Heh heh, this man is well-read and reasonable, and a pleasure to listen to. This old man most appreciates young lads like him. Everyone, show him some respect and don't pop up uninvited."

The Monk once again put on a kind and benevolent face.

'See? His face-changing is even better than Jun Buxiao's.'

"HEH HEH HEH!"

"HEE HEE HEE!"

"WHIMPER WHIMPER WHIMPER!"

Several lively personalities each flashed a smile on the Monk's face before disappearing.

The Monk scratched his head, completely bewildered. Recalling what had just happened, he lowered his head and smiled. "Sorry to have made a fool of myself, Brother Zheng."

"Speaking of which," Zheng Xiu said, looking at the Monk. He recalled the Monk's story and felt a little puzzled. "Have you ever wondered why Master Dengdeng taught you Heart Zen all those years ago?"

'Zheng Xiu had a theory. Master Dengdeng was Xie Yunliu. Xie Yunliu had lived through that past and knew what the Cannibal Painting was. He taught the Monk Heart Zen and handed over that painting. Was he hoping that one day, Gongsun Mo would be 'resurrected' in this way? Was Master Dengdeng hoping to be reunited with Gongsun Mo across the barrier of death, but was so tormented by his conscience and unable to bear hurting the Monk that he hesitated? Or did Master Dengdeng hope even more that someone would appear to inherit Gongsun Mo's last wishes, someone who could finish what Gongsun Mo left undone and bring Xie Luohe back from the Darkness?'

"It's fine." The Monk had been sorting through Master Dengdeng's Relics these past few days and had long since come to terms with it. He gave a faint smile. A simple "It's fine," seemingly borrowed from Feng Bei's catchphrase, was spoken with his own unique flavor, conveying a world of meaning without words.

"Oh, right, Brother Zheng. I brought back Master Dengdeng's skull."

At the mention of Master Dengdeng, something stirred in the Monk. He got up, intending to walk over to his nearby baggage and pull out Master Dengdeng's skull to show Zheng Xiu.

WHOOSH~

The moment the Monk moved, Zheng Xiu felt a strange, stabbing pain between his eyebrows, as if something were about to burst out. Gritting his teeth against the discomfort in his forehead, Zheng Xiu realized something. The Monk had been sitting the whole time, so Zheng Xiu hadn't noticed, but now that he was standing, Zheng Xiu could see a hemp rope as thick as a thumb tied to the Monk's foot, leading all the way to his baggage.

DOK DOK DOK!

The Monk's baggage suddenly started moving. Something was thrashing about inside.

"Crap!"

The Monk's expression changed. He slapped his bald head. "I almost forgot about that damn thing!"

RRRIIP!

Zheng Xiu's forehead split open, and a twenty-sided die bizarrely drilled its way out, spinning in mid-air. With the sound of cracking bones, the bones in Zheng Xiu's arms twisted in agony, changing shape. In the blink of an eye, they had become two bone chains that shot toward the baggage.

The peaceful atmosphere of their reunion was instantly shattered, replaced by heart-pounding tension. Zheng Xiu shot to his feet. With a CLICK, the ends of the chains pierced the baggage, seemingly latching onto something inside.

Zheng Xiu stared intently at the agitated baggage, panting as he asked, "What else have you got hidden in there?"

The Monk looked utterly dumbfounded. "Nothing, just a... foot."

A foot????

The Monk had barely finished speaking when a withered foot, tied tightly with the hemp rope, gave a sharp tug, pulling the Monk down to the ground. He landed face-first with a THUD. From the foot's severed end, wisps of black mist, as nimble as tentacles, began to pour out. It used a Pillar of the dilapidated temple to leap onto a roof beam, trying to escape through a hole in the roof, but Zheng Xiu's two chains held it fast, instantly pulling taut.

Zheng Xiu stared at the bizarrely shaped "foot," stunned for a moment before his expression shifted to one of wild joy.

It was a Deceitful Object!

At that moment, Zheng Xiu felt like a giant iron pie had just fallen from the sky and smacked him on the head.

The Destiny of the [Monk Post Station] was "Blessed with Good Fortune."

Looking at it now, he really was a lucky star!

At this point, Zheng Xiu couldn't be bothered with the double-edged sword Attributes of Deceitful Objects. As long as it wasn't an Orchid, he could accept any other kind. When a piece of meat was right at your lips, you had to at least see what kind it was before turning it away.
