After grumbling internally for a moment, Lin Tianyang turned to Gu Qing and Xia Shuran. “You two have to head to headquarters later, so you should get going. Sister Yu and I can handle things here.”

Gu Qing replied while eating a bun, “It’s fine. It’s still early. I plan on heading to headquarters after lunch.”

Lin Tianyang said, “Alright, then. Just keep an eye on the time. Don’t be late for anything important.”

The piercing wail of sirens echoed from outside the woods.

Gu Qing looked toward the source of the sound.

He saw several security vehicles pulling up.

Nearly twenty Security Officers stepped out of the vehicles.

A few of the Security Officers used caution tape to cordon off the entire woods, preventing anyone from getting close.

Lin Tianyang said to Gu Qing, “I called these Security Officers over to help us search for clues. Many hands make light work, after all.”

Three hours had passed.

It was nearly eleven in the morning.

Over twenty people, including several top criminal investigators, had been meticulously combing the basketball court-sized patch of woods for three hours, yet they had found absolutely nothing.

The lack of results was exhausting for everyone.

Seeing the time, Lin Tianyang stopped and announced to the group, “Alright, everyone, let’s take a break.”

“Get some water, mess around on your phones, order some takeout to fill up.”

“We’ll continue at one o’clock.”

He then turned to Gu Qing and Xia Shuran. “I know a good restaurant nearby. Want to grab a bite? My treat.”

Gu Qing smiled. “Maybe next time. I’m officially taking a leave of absence from school after today, so I was planning on having a farewell meal with my roommates.”

Lin Tianyang nodded. “Alright. Next time you’re free, then. I’ll treat you two to a meal.”

Gu Qing said, “Brother Yang, if you find anything or run into any trouble, call me immediately. I can sprint out of the school in under half a minute.”

“Senior, can I come with you to eat with your roommates?”
