Chapter 132: Chapter 109: Awakening the Martial Soul

Before Gu Qing’s shocked eyes, the scarlet streams of blood qi rapidly converged and took shape. They formed a colossal, mountain-like Martial Soul that slowly materialized from the Void, standing tall behind Xia Wuyuan.

The Martial Soul’s appearance was identical to Xia Wuyuan’s, but it was several times larger.

It was scarlet as fire, its outline rugged and imposing. Its form nearly touched the beams of the inner hall, and the massive phantasm enveloped most of the hall, radiating an intense heatwave.

In an instant, the temperature inside skyrocketed. It was as if the entire inner hall had transformed into the magma-filled base of a volcano.

Gu Qing’s expression changed. He felt a tightness in his chest, and every breath he took was scalding. His ears rang as a tremor welled up from the depths of his soul, his heart pounding without end.

In just a few seconds, sweat soaked through his clothes like a flash flood, trickling down his skin.

Beside him, the weaker Xia Shuran swayed on her feet, instinctively reaching for the doorframe to support herself.

Her delicate frame trembled under the terrifying pressure, threatening to give way at any moment.

Her bangs, drenched in sweat, clung to her cheeks. Her legs felt weak, and she couldn’t even summon the courage to look up at the scarlet Martial Soul.

Xia Wuyuan had only manifested his Martial Soul, showing no deliberate hostility. Yet, the pressure born from his centuries of accumulated Martial Dao foundation alone had turned the entire inner hall into a Purgatory, crushing the two of them until they could barely breathe.

A few moments later, Xia Wuyuan recalled his blood qi. The mountain-like scarlet Martial Soul behind him slowly faded away, and the violent heatwave receded like the tide. The heavy, scorching air gradually returned to normal.

Gu Qing let out a long breath, his back already soaked with sweat. He was utterly shaken.

’So strong!’

’This ancestor of the Xia Family is the most powerful Extraordinary Being I’ve ever seen!’

’I wonder if there’s anyone in the entire Night Court who could stand against him?’

After taking a moment to recover, Gu Qing helped the weak-kneed Xia Shuran back to the tea table and sat down.

Elder Xia stroked his beard and smiled. "What do you think of my Martial Soul?"

"It’s very strong."

This time, Gu Qing wasn’t just flattering him. He spoke from the heart, offering his honest opinion. "It’s so powerful it completely surpasses my understanding of the Martial Dao. It’s like something out of the legends of Land Immortals."

After saying this, he couldn’t help but ask, "Elder Xia, can I awaken a Martial Soul without outside intervention?"

By "outside intervention," he was referring to how Xia Wuyuan had previously planted a Martial Seed in Xia Shuran.

"You have a chance."

Xia Wuyuan answered with conviction. "As long as you persistently practice the Martial Dao Cultivation Method I taught you, over time, someone with high aptitude has a chance to comprehend the True Martial Arts Dao. Once you comprehend enough of it, you can awaken a Martial Soul."

Gu Qing asked, "And ’over time’ generally means how long?"

Xia Wuyuan replied, "If your aptitude is high enough, you might be able to comprehend the True Martial Arts Dao after a year or two. As for awakening a Martial Soul... even with that foundation, you’d need decades of arduous training just for a chance."

’Decades?’

’That long?’

’Forget it. I’ll just stick to farming tags.’

’I’ll find a chance to fight alongside my junior later.’

’I’ll see what powerful Attributes I can get from her [Martial Saint] tag.’

Gu Qing instantly lost interest, no longer holding out any hope for this so-called Martial Soul.

Just then, Xia Wuyuan spoke again. "Young Master Gu, since you’re already here, I may as well teach you a few exquisite Cultivation Methods. You can practice them in your spare time and see if, over time, you can comprehend the True Martial Arts Dao."

Hearing this, Gu Qing rose from his cushion. "Thank you for the lesson, Elder Xia," he said respectfully.

Xia Wuyuan then looked at Xia Shuran. "Little Shuran, you should learn too. It’s a waste of time to just sit there."

"Oh! Okay, Ancestor."

Xia Shuran wiped the sweat from her forehead and quickly rose from her cushion.
