Chapter 238: He Can Have Hatchlings!: During Serialization, Sleep Must Be Reserved and Applied for in Advance!

  • Next Chapter

“Hatchlings... I haven’t thought that far ahead yet.”

He had a 999-year sentence. Logically speaking, he would never be able to leave prison in his lifetime.

At that thought, An Ruo suddenly furrowed his brows slightly.

Prison wasn’t a suitable place to have hatchlings. In fact, the same applied to romantic relationships. It wasn’t suitable for those either.

It was just that Ulysses was the Marshal, and his status and their special relationship allowed him to come and go freely from the Military Region Prison, blurring all those inconveniences to the point that An Ruo had only just realized this now.

Faced with a prison sentence whose end was nowhere in sight, making Ulysses wait for him for so long would be far too irresponsible.

Of course, Ulysses might not actually wait for him that long. Maybe somewhere along the way, he would ask to break up with him...

If that day really came and Ulysses asked to break up with him, An Ruo would probably be devastated, lock himself in his prison room, and emo in isolation for a very long time.

But he would also... understand Ulysses’ decision.

A prison romance had no future to begin with. It couldn’t last.

Ulysses noticed that the male’s mood had changed.

Was it because he had brought up hatchlings?

Ulysses carefully wrapped his arms around him and comforted him. “It’s all right. There’s nothing wrong with you not wanting hatchlings. As long as we’re still together, that’s enough.”

An Ruo shook his head and said softly, “It’s not that I don’t want hatchlings. It’s just...”

Saying right now that he was worried Ulysses might break up with him in the future seemed far too sentimental. It would make him look overly dramatic.

After thinking about it, An Ruo silently buried the subject and instead followed Ulysses’ train of thought.

“I was just thinking... my sentence is too long, so I might never get the chance... Even if there really comes a day when I get out of prison, with our physical circumstances, we might not necessarily be able to have hatchlings.”

He still wasn’t sure whether he counted as a human or a male Zerg.

Logically speaking, he should have the body of a male Zerg, but the differences between him and the original owner were enormous, to the point where even their appearances were completely different. Although it could be explained using Zerg concepts like his appearance upgrading after a rank breakthrough, the degree of difference was still bizarre.

Sometimes, he wasn’t even sure whether the “original owner” of this body was actually the “original owner.”

Yet if he called himself “human,” he possessed Zerg psychic power and pheromones.

When Ulysses heard the male say that, with their “physical circumstances,” they might not necessarily be able to have hatchlings, he was filled with confusion and immediately became alarmed.

Was the male... doubting his fertility?

Had something made the male think he was infertile?

“My body is very healthy, and all of its functions are completely normal,” Ulysses said urgently.

In the Zerg race, where reproduction was valued above all else, having one’s fertility questioned was a serious matter.

Being insulted by someone of the same sex as “infertile” was already among the greatest humiliations imaginable. Having one’s reproductive ability doubted by someone one cared about could affect a female Zerg for the rest of his life. No wonder Ulysses was anxious.

He said, “If you need it, I can send you my medical examination report.”

As he spoke, Ulysses opened his terminal, pulled up the data, and sent it directly without the slightest hesitation, determined to prove that there was absolutely nothing wrong with his body.

He could have hatchlings!

An Ruo was dumbfounded when he suddenly received a medical examination report.

He hurriedly sat upright and waved his hands. “That’s not what I meant. I mean... I might be the one with a problem.”

Ulysses paused when he heard this, his gaze subconsciously drifting downward, looking somewhat unfocused.

A problem? He thought it was incredible. His pheromones were powerful, his attraction was overwhelming, and everything about him was exceptionally strong and exceptionally long.

After all, due to the characteristics of the Zerg race, a male Zerg’s abilities were directly proportional to his rank. An Ruo was definitely the absolute highest grade. Mm, even higher than diamond.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with him except that he was rather lazy and didn’t like exerting himself. That wasn’t a problem either. A female Zerg was supposed to serve the male in the first place, and Ulysses was more than happy to take on the work.

Sometimes An Ruo would take the initiative, but he was lazy. After being satisfied once, he wouldn’t want to move anymore. Still, if Ulysses wanted more, he would cooperate.

So something like this often happened: An Ruo would finish once, clean himself up, lie down comfortably, pull the blanket over himself, and prepare to have a good night’s sleep, only for Ulysses to climb over him again while dropping hints. Although An Ruo’s expression and thoughts would both be full of conflict, he would still indulge him and let him continue.

Ulysses loved the way An Ruo indulged him at times like that. Even if they kept going until dawn, the male wouldn’t say a single word of refusal. No matter how many times or how many pheromones he wanted, An Ruo would give them to him. It was only when An Ruo discovered that the sky outside had already brightened that he would silently stare at Ulysses with an aggrieved look, as though accusing him of having no restraint.

Ulysses didn’t want to deprive the male of sleep and was trying hard to restrain himself. It was just that sometimes, he wasn’t very good at it.

Every adorable little expression the male made only made him want to continue—the conflicted ones, the indulgent ones, the troubled ones, the aggrieved ones, the surprised ones. Most important of all were the dazed expression and overwhelming pleasure at the peak, followed by the lazy satisfaction after everything was over.

Ulysses loved every reaction that appeared on An Ruo’s face and body because of him.

Only when An Ruo noticed the faint blush spreading across Ulysses’ face did he realize that his words had sent Ulysses’ thoughts in entirely the wrong direction.

Heat instantly rushed to his face. He hurriedly stopped him and explained in embarrassed irritation,

“What are you thinking about? Not that! I mean, you know I can’t strictly be considered a male Zerg. We might not necessarily be able to have hatchlings!”

Ulysses tilted his head slightly in confusion.

He didn’t understand why this would even count as a problem for a god.

If the god was willing to let him have a hatchling, then of course he could have one.

Ulysses firmly believed that.

“If you can’t have hatchlings, then why are you taking medicine?” Ulysses asked gently.

An Ruo choked. Only after a long while did he say without much confidence, “You still have to be prepared just in case. What if...”

Ulysses smiled. “Exactly. High-level Zergs have low fertility rates. Everyone is gambling on that ‘what if.’”

Ulysses covered the male’s hand resting on his knee with his own and held it, saying softly, “What if we do have one?”

An Ruo stared blankly at Ulysses and couldn’t help following his words into imagining it.

What if they did...

A hatchling belonging to him and Ulysses...

An Ruo’s expression became conflicted, but he still said, “In prison... it would affect the hatchling. That wouldn’t be good.”

“What about after you’re released?” Ulysses asked.

After he was released...

An Ruo followed Ulysses’ words and imagined it.

After he was released, Ulysses would become pregnant with his egg and turn into a pregnant female Zerg...

An Ruo’s gaze involuntarily fell on Ulysses’ stomach.

Even though he had been in the Zerg world for nearly a year, had written about plenty of pregnant female Zergs, and had personally seen both pregnant female Zergs and eggs being incubated, the thought that pregnancy might someday happen to Ulysses still felt incredible.

Something as loving and profound as nurturing a new life, when paired with Ulysses, created a strange sense of contradiction and harmony.

“If that day really comes... I’ll have to work very hard to take care of you and the baby. And... we should probably get married, right?”

An Ruo said thoughtfully.

The hatchling would have to be born and go to school. They couldn’t possibly maintain their current relationship forever. They would have to take the next step and get married. They couldn’t exactly let their hatchling become a child born out of wedlock.

Ulysses pulled An Ruo tightly into his arms, emotions surging through his chest.

This was precisely the answer he had wanted, and it was even better than he had imagined.

Just as he had thought, the male wasn’t opposed to having hatchlings. What he rejected was having a hatchling while in prison.

If it happened after he was released, the male was even willing to enter into marriage with him for the sake of their hatchling.

Ulysses’ eyes grew slightly hot, his heart deeply moved.

This also proved that there was nothing wrong with his plan.

He could guide the male step by step into adapting to the outside world, let him grow accustomed to his new nest, and then arrange for the male’s release according to the proper regulations and procedures.

After that, the male would truly live together with him, in the residence he provided, in the Marshal’s residence, in their home.

Then, after he worked hard for a few more years and became pregnant with an egg, the male would be willing to marry him for the hatchling’s sake.

Compared to a proper Zerg-style marriage, the process did seem somewhat more complicated...

Even the strictest male Zerg wouldn’t demand that a female Zerg become pregnant with his egg before agreeing to marry him. Male Zergs cared far less about hatchlings than female Zergs did. Very few male Zergs would marry for the sake of an egg. A female Zerg’s assets were far more attractive to male Zergs than that.

But Ulysses didn’t care about such minor details.

A path had to be walked one step at a time, and he had already seen a clear direction ahead. That was enough.

He had always been good at scheming toward his goals.

From gradually scheming his way into the male’s affection back then, to the marriage and hatchlings he could envision in their future, his future looked brilliantly bright.

An Ruo hugged Ulysses back, having no idea why he was reacting so strongly. He had only said a few perfectly ordinary things. There was nothing particularly special about them.

It should be quite common for couples like them to discuss their future together, right? Usually, they were only beautiful fantasies, far too distant from reality and not necessarily destined to come true...

An Ruo actually disliked talking about such unknown and intangible things. He only made promises about things he could accomplish, and once he made a promise, he would definitely fulfill it.

What they had discussed today was already far too distant from their current reality. Normally, An Ruo wouldn’t even consider topics like these.

But Ulysses wanted to know, so An Ruo had seriously followed along and imagined it with him.

At that moment, he couldn’t help calculating his Contribution Points and the possibility of reducing his sentence.

The number of Contribution Points required to offset a 999-year sentence was astronomical. It was a virtually impossible task.

An Ruo had originally given up already and hadn’t paid attention to how much his Contribution Points had increased in a long time. But now there was a Zerg waiting for him outside prison, so he wanted to make an effort for that reason.

Even if he couldn’t completely offset his entire sentence, shaving off a few years was still better than nothing. A person needed something to look forward to in life.

...

After staying at the Marshal’s residence for a week, An Ruo told Ulysses that he wanted to return to prison.

He meant that after finishing the Psychic Soothing today, he wouldn’t come back here. Having Ulysses drive back and forth to pick him up every single day wasn’t a solution. It was far too much trouble for him.

He also felt that he needed to follow the prison’s rules and regulations at least somewhat. He couldn’t keep staying out overnight all the time.

Although Ulysses was reluctant, he still respected his wishes and prepared many farewell gifts for him, including the pastries from the Marshal’s residence that An Ruo liked.

If An Ruo hadn’t stopped him in time, Ulysses had even planned to send the Marshal residence’s pastry chef to the Military Region Prison specifically to cook for him. That was way too excessive.

Ulysses also told him that whenever he wanted to return to the Marshal’s residence or go outside for some fresh air, he could tell him at any time and Ulysses would come pick him up. He also said that his bed would always be reserved for him.

Was he seriously trying to use the bed to command the duck even at a time like this?

An Ruo covered his face.

With his bed and Ulysses keeping him company these past few days, he really had slept very well. It was just that there had been slightly too much nighttime activity.

Ulysses was a young Zerg with a vigorous sex drive who needed plenty of pheromone nourishment. An Ruo could understand that.

An SSS-rank female Zerg who wasn’t fighting a war had an abundance of energy to expend on him.

An Ruo himself didn’t particularly mind. Ulysses’ control over his physical strength was incomparably precise and wouldn’t hurt him. Even if An Ruo was briefly distracted and ended up aching a little from being ridden too hard, his own constitution allowed him to recover very quickly.

He had simply realized something all of a sudden.

If this continued, he wouldn’t be able to write anymore!

Dating really was something that consumed enormous amounts of time and scattered one’s concentration.

From now on, he absolutely had to emphasize this to Ulysses: during his serialization period, if Ulysses wanted to sleep with him, he had to make a reservation and submit an application in advance!

Only then could An Ruo properly arrange his schedule.
