Chapter 72 - 67: Grandma! Is That You?
Chapter 72: Chapter 67: Grandma! Is That You?
The voice was faint, sounding like a prayer or the chanting of some ancient spell.
Yin Zhen understood the Blood Clan language, but the deceased’s consciousness at the time had been too blurry. The vision was intermittent, and the voice was fragmented.
"...the stars... the deep sea..."
"...the Gods... shining..."
"...sacrifice..."
"...the door..."
The vision shook violently, and the deceased’s eyes closed completely.
Yin Zhen’s stomach churned. Could this ritual have been meant to summon that white creature beneath the drilling platform?
Was it because of that creature that this Blood Clan mission existed in the first place? Was that why the invasion had been brought forward?
BANG!
A gunshot rang out from another direction, exploding across the empty industrial zone.
Yin Zhen immediately jumped onto the windowsill and squeezed out through the broken glass frame. Gripping the wall ledge with his four paws, he scrambled onto the factory roof in a few swift moves.
Flames flickered in another factory building three hundred meters away. A firefight was taking place. Drones whirred past as they rushed toward the scene, accompanied by the chaotic sound of footsteps from behind.
Hiding in the darkness, Yin Zhen sprinted wildly in that direction.
Inside the factory building.
The handsome Trouble knelt on one knee. His right arm had been sliced cleanly off at the shoulder by a sharp blade, and blood gushed out endlessly like an open faucet.
Another panicked girl, still wearing a high school uniform beneath her bulletproof vest that she hadn’t had time to change out of, held Trouble’s severed arm against his wound. She continuously activated her Extraordinary Ability to reattach it.
"Trouble, h-hang in there!"
Because of her past as a Blood Beast, Xian Yu had gained a B-level Extraordinary Ability called ’Structural Repair’. It could heal physical injuries, damaged organs, and severed limbs—and could even repair household appliances.
ROAR!
In front of the two, a fierce tiger covered in yellow and black stripes lunged and snapped at the Blood Clan man in a windbreaker ahead.
This tiger was Mao Xuewang. Her Extraordinary Ability was ’Blood Mimicry’, a C-level ability that allowed her to transform into the owner of the blood she most recently touched before transforming. It didn’t provide any additional attribute boosts, but it had many wonderful uses.
Before coming here, Nan Jiamu had specifically given her a vial of Siberian tiger blood.
"Mao Xuewang, hold on a little longer! The captain and the others will be here to back us up soon!"
Their bullets were already depleted, and Trouble was urgently trying to contact Nan Jiamu.
His Extraordinary Ability was ’Mind Beacon’, a B-level ability that could establish a spiritual power link network within a certain range, transmitting information directly into everyone’s minds.
This Extraordinary Ability also granted him formidable spiritual power, allowing him to form a Spiritual Barrier for basic defense.
However, their encounter with this Blood Clan member had been far too sudden. The Blood Clan man’s previous strike was so fast that before Trouble could even deploy his barrier, his arm had been severed by the metal scrap the enemy controlled.
Ordinary metal scrap was never this sharp, but the Blood Clan man seemed to possess two Extraordinary Abilities: one for controlling metal, and another to sharpen it.
Mao Xuewang’s tiger paws slammed onto the ground as she opened her jaws to bite at Quentin’s neck.
Quentin dodged sideways. With a lift of his hand, a steel rebar from the nearby rubble flew up into his grasp. The tip of the rebar rapidly sharpened until it was like a razor.
[C-level Molecular Sharpening]: Densifies the molecular structure of the edges of objects in physical contact, making them incredibly sharp, capable of cutting through iron like butter.
With a light wave from Quentin, the rebar pierced through Mao Xuewang’s front paw at blistering speed. Blood splattered.
Pained, Mao Xuewang retreated two steps with a low growl. The tiger’s body trembled as blood dripped down.
"Is this all you can do?"
At this moment, Quentin spoke in the Blood Clan language using this Huaxia person’s vessel. The surrounding rubble began to vibrate.
Iron nails, sheet metal, rebar, and rusted steel pipes—all metallic objects were pulled from the ruins as if by an invisible hand, levitating densely in midair.
[A-level Magnetic Control]: Controls metal objects within a fifty-meter radius, capable of levitating, moving, and accelerating them.
Quentin raised his hand and waved it lightly.
Dozens of iron nails and fragments shot out like a torrential downpour, moving so fast they were practically invisible to the naked eye. Every single item had been imbued with the Effect of Molecular Sharpening, gleaming with a sharp, cold light.
Mao Xuewang’s pupils shrank into slits. Without hesitation, she used her massive body to shield Trouble and Xian Yu behind her.
She didn’t even know why she was doing this. She was obviously terrified of dying!
ROAR!
The tiger wailed. Trouble and Xian Yu looked up, only to see countless fragments embedded in the beast’s flesh. Blood poured out from innumerable wounds. She stumbled but did not fall.
"Mao Xuewang!"
The continuously trembling Xian Yu cried out and rushed toward the tiger.
There was still time. It wasn’t too late to heal her.
SQUELCH!
A rusted steel pipe violently pierced through the tiger’s skull.
The tiger’s body stiffened for a second before crashing to the ground. Blood gushed out, rapidly pooling into a small lake on the floor.
The yellow and black stripes faded as the tiger’s body shrank, reverting back into a young woman. She lay curled up in the pool of blood, her eyes wide open and motionless.
Xian Yu froze in place. Staring blankly at the dead Mao Xuewang, she felt the world spinning as her body trembled violently.
"You’re next!"
Quentin tilted his head with a sinister smile and controlled a piece of rebar to shoot straight at Xian Yu.
"Watch out!"
The rebar slammed heavily into a transparent barrier, letting out an ear-piercing screech of friction.
Trouble clutched his newly reattached arm. The veins on his forehead bulged, and his eyes were bursting with blood silk. With all his might, he squeezed a few words through his teeth.
"Run... find the captain..."
Xian Yu was stunned for a second before swiftly sprinting toward the back door.
Quentin looked at the Spiritual Barrier, then at the fleeing Xian Yu. He raised his hand, and a massive force ripped off a nearby piece of sheet metal, hurtling it toward her.
Xian Yu dove to dodge, but the sheet metal sliced a large chunk of flesh from her arm. Blood spattered across the floor as the metal sheet slammed into and completely blocked the doorway.
"None of you will escape. You will all become sacrifices to the Gods!"
Trouble’s Spiritual Barrier suddenly shattered, and the sharp rebar shot toward his head.
BANG!
A gunshot rang out. Something yanked violently at Trouble’s foot, causing his body to topple to the side, narrowly dodging the lethal rebar.
Falling to the ground, Trouble looked up to see a woman in black wearing a strange mask standing in front of him.
Trouble instantly teared up, uncontrollably shouting, "Granny! Is that you?"
The woman coldly snorted. "I’m your grandpa!"
