I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World

Chapter 99: So the Richest Man in Star City Can Feel Fear Too

  • Next Chapter

A faint hairline crack appeared.

Qian Zihao's face paled. "Damn it, you useless trash, get over here! Grab him!"

Han Yu's ferocious grin widened. Qian Zihao's terror sparked a surge of deep, vindictive pleasure in his chest.

"You're scared? You're terrified of the Lower District scum you always spat on. Hahaha..."

A dense barrage of gunfire erupted behind Han Yu. Mithril Bullets tore violently through his body.

Thud!

He collapsed to the floor but kept his head held high, fixing Qian Zihao with a death glare. He let out a burst of mad laughter. "Hahaha... So the richest man in Star City can feel fear too."

"Fuck!"

Qian Zihao stepped out from behind his protective light shield. He planted a heavy foot viciously into Han Yu's face, stomping him into a bloody, mangled mess of shattered teeth and torn flesh.

"Scum! Scum! You damn scum! You're nothing but an ungrateful dog! I gave you everything you have, and you dare raise a hand against me?"

He vented his rage for a long time, only stopping when Han Yu was beaten completely unrecognizable.

"Are you thinking clearly now? To think Su Mu actually managed to control you too."

Han Yu's mangled lips trembled. His voice had faded to a weak rasp, yet it remained unwavering. "The Leader didn't control me. He showed me what a man should truly live for!"

Qian Zihao let out a furious bark of laughter. "What a man should live for? You listened to him, and now you're dying! Live my ass!"

Han Yu's consciousness began to fade, his voice drifting away. Memories of his years in the Upper District flashed rapidly through his mind.

From arriving full of bright hope, to slamming into closed doors at every turn, to being ruthlessly manipulated until he finally threw away his dignity to live as a dog... The montage froze on the Leader's gentle, encouraging smile. That had been the very first time he felt like a human being.

"I used to believe that gold would shine no matter where it lay. But in the Upper District... even the nights are blindingly bright."

"I didn't give up. I worked twice as hard. I asked myself again and again—how am I any worse than the people born here? Why am I doomed to scrape the bottom? Even after passing the exams for the Law Enforcement Bureau, I was still bullied. Everyone wants to become a Transcendent, but what does it even matter once you are?"

"Ordinary people are divided into the noble and the worthless, and Transcendents are no different."

"I refused to accept it... Every time they humiliated me, I swore to myself that one day I would tear it all down!"

"But somewhere along the way, I forgot... The Leader was the one who made me remember my oath!"

"Long live the Leader!!!"

A final roar erupted from his broken body. Fueled by a terminal burst of adrenaline, he hurled himself fiercely at Qian Zihao. Even with his limbs shattered, he refused to give up.

Using the very last of his strength, he opened his mouth and clamped his teeth viciously into the fat of Qian Zihao's stomach.

"Argh!!"

Qian Zihao let out a pig-like squeal of agony.

"Kill him! Kill him!"

Bang bang bang...

Mithril Bullets rained down in a relentless storm. Han Yu's body was shredded into a bloody sieve before he finally collapsed to the ground, falling completely still.

Several men rushed out with medical kits to quickly bandage Qian Zihao's wound. The intense pain made the veins on his forehead bulge violently.

"Su Mu!!"

"Get Mr. Mu! I want Su Mu dead! I want him dead right now!"

Qian Zihao had completely lost his mind to fury. He never imagined that Su Mu's methods would be so bizarre, or his audacity so boundless. Before Qian Zihao could even strike, Su Mu had already made a move against him.

"A mere piece of trash from the Lower District—how dare he! How dare he?!"

...

...

Dusk.

Murong Mengli paid a sudden visit. By this time, Su Mu had already left the hospital ward and was quietly reading in his own office.

Reading was a habit he had cultivated within his dreams. He read absolutely everything, though he was especially drawn to subjects he had never explored before; to him, the unexplored represented the unknown.

Murong Mengli pushed open the door. She was just about to speak when she paused. Su Mu sat there reading in total silence, the tranquil moonlight spilling over him like a veil of mysterious radiance. It was a picture so perfectly still that she couldn't bear to disturb it.

Suddenly, Su Mu raised his head. Seeing Murong Mengli's hurried expression, he offered a gentle smile. "Miss Mengli, you still haven't left work this late?"

Murong Mengli took a deep breath, shaking off her stray thoughts. Her tone grew solemn. "Were you the one behind what happened with Han Yu?"

Su Mu nodded, not denying it. "It was me."

Murong Mengli's expression tightened. "You acted too impulsively. Qian Zihao is the richest man in Star City—he's surrounded by elite guards and possesses countless Artifacts. A single Han Yu could never kill him. My informant tells me Qian Zihao is absolutely furious, and he's already planning his revenge against you."

"Oh?" An intrigued smile touched the corner of Su Mu's lips. "Is he finally making his move? To be honest, I never expected Han Yu to actually kill him."

"Then why did you..."

"Because I was bored." Meeting Murong Mengli's bewildered gaze, Su Mu spoke with casual indifference. "I've been out of the Abandoned District for three days now. Qian Zihao has kept me waiting for too long. I simply ran out of patience."

Murong Mengli stared blankly, never expecting a reason like that. Was he complaining that his life was too peaceful, so he just had to stir up some excitement?

"Susu, do you have any idea what you're doing? Over the last few days, I leaked the news about The Unrememberable to the rest of the Murong Family just so they'd tie Murong Yun down with internal conflicts. Then I personally warned off Qian Zihao so he wouldn't dare make a rash move. Yet you..."

"Shh." Su Mu gently pressed a finger to his lips. "Miss Mengli," he said softly, "I am deeply grateful for everything you've done, but please do not interfere with my decisions."

"Sometimes, endless compromise doesn't buy peace—it only invites worse abuse. Besides, I already learned from Han Yu that Qian Zihao was the true mastermind behind the scenes. Since he chose to strike at me, I had no choice but to return the favor."

His gentle voice carried an unquestionable, absolute authority. For some reason, Murong Mengli's heartbeat quickened, and she swallowed the words that had been right on the tip of her tongue.

Suddenly, Murong Mengli broke into a radiant smile. "You're right. My mother used to tell me that when a man makes a decision—whether it turns out to be right or wrong—it means he is fully prepared to bear all the consequences and pay whatever price it demands. The people beside him shouldn't question it. They should only support him."

"You have a wonderful mother."

"Yes. I've always thought so too."
