I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World
Chapter 82: Mr. Su Makes His Move!!
"Fight it?" Tie Feng sneered. "I'm half a step away from connecting with the Silver Law, Follower of Strength. Even at full power, my strongest strike couldn't damage the Statue in the slightest. What exactly are we supposed to fight it with?"
"Then what else can we do? Wait around to die?" The woman's taut nerves finally snapped under the suffocating pressure of death. She screamed hysterically, her expression spiraling into madness.
Suddenly, she seemed to remember something. She looked at Su Mu in a frenzy of excitement, her eyes brimming with desperation. "Mr. Su, with your strength, you can definitely shatter the Statue! You're a powerhouse who destroyed an entire city!"
Clinging to him like a dying woman to a lifeline, she pleaded, "Mr. Su, I beg you, please make a move! If you can break this curse, I'll do anything to repay you. You can have anything I own. I'll even serve as your slave!"
Horrifying burns had already crept across her face. In the face of death, this Transcendent behaved no differently than an ordinary person.
Some say death is the fairest thing in the world. Su Mu wholly agreed.
Her words sparked a glimmer of hope in the others. Perhaps this powerhouse who had annihilated a city really could pull it off?
Tie Feng carefully weighed his words. "Mr. Su, could we trouble you to give it a try?"
Faced with their earnest pleas, Su Mu naturally wouldn't refuse. Like a peerless expert finally agreeing to step forward and save the masses, he nodded calmly.
"Everyone step back," he said, "to avoid getting caught in the crossfire."The crowd was instantly overjoyed. They obediently retreated, pulling back a full hundred meters before Su Mu finally told them to stop.
Their anticipation swelled. Just what kind of devastating attack was Mr. Su about to unleash that required them to stand a hundred meters away?
Only Yang Dongqing looked doubtful. Was this sickly Su Mu really hiding some devastating trump card?
It didn't make sense. Su Mu had only recently captured Yang Dongqing to ask about Transcendent matters. In the Nightmare World, Su Mu had relied entirely on his subordinates and Yang Dongqing's protection. Although Su Mu was the one who ultimately broke the Nightmare World, he hadn't shown a shred of actual strength from start to finish.
Under the crowd's expectant gazes, Su Mu slowly extended a single finger. Myriad Phenomena activated in an instant.
Just as everyone wondered why Mr. Su was pointing a single finger at the sky, it abruptly turned pitch black!
The crowd looked up in horror. A massive dark cloud had materialized over the Land of Sacrifice, stretching for over a thousand meters and completely blanketing the area in its shadow.
The heavy dark clouds churned ceaselessly, rolling like a surging black tide.
"Changing the weather single-handedly!? And you're telling me he's only Bronze 3!?" Jun Wushang was dumbfounded. The others looked equally horrified—even Tie Feng, the strongest among them.
As a Bronze 3 himself, Tie Feng walked the Follower of Strength path meant for common Transcendents. Armed with three Bronze Law abilities—Heart of Steel, Great Force Bombardment Punch, and Ceaseless Recovery—his combat prowess was merely akin to a humanoid Tyrannosaurus rex, relying on punches and kicks to crush his enemies.
Yet, comparing himself to this fellow Bronze 3, Su Mu had altered the heavens with a single finger. They were on entirely different levels. It gave Tie Feng the distinct illusion of a mortal martial artist facing an immortal cultivator.
Suddenly, a dazzling golden light burst from the depths of those impenetrable dark clouds! In the next moment, as the crowd watched in horror, a colossal golden heavenly sword the size of a mountain peak slowly emerged. It looked like the Sword of Judgment descending from the firmament!
Brilliant light swirled around the massive blade. Countless stars seemed to twinkle within that glow, intertwining with the flow of mysterious runes.
The moment they laid eyes on that golden heavenly sword, everyone's minds simply went blank. They were shocked into absolute silence.
What kind of Law was this!? How could it be so terrifying?
At that moment, Su Mu's pale, jade-like finger dipped slightly. As if receiving a signal, the heavenly sword plummeted from the sky with the devastating force of a thunderbolt.
The terrifying pressure sent the crowd scrambling for cover. Even though they knew the heavenly sword wasn't aimed at them, their instincts screamed at them to flee.
Only the dying woman stood her ground, trembling with excitement. The golden light of the heavenly sword reflected in her eyes, burning with her desperate desire to live. She clenched her fists. "With such immense strength, Mr. Su can definitely do it!"
However, things in this world rarely go as hoped.
Right as the heavenly sword fell, a pitch-black, demonic light erupted from the Statue. The black light shot into mid-air and instantly transformed into a bottomless black hole. Like the gaping maw of an abyssal behemoth, it swallowed the heavenly sword in a single gulp.
The dark clouds in the sky slowly dissipated, and the black hole vanished along with them. It was as if none of it had ever happened.
Su Mu shook his head at the crowd. "I am still too weak. I can't deal with the Statue."
The dumbfounded crowd didn't dare reply. He called that weak? Did he have some fundamental misunderstanding of the word?
Tie Feng managed to squeeze out a smile, though it carried a hint of fawning flattery. "Mr. Su, you must be joking. When we attacked the Statue, we couldn't even trigger a reaction. Yet the moment you struck, you forced it to counterattack. I'm not exaggerating when I say that, up until now, I have never seen a Transcendent more powerful than you."
No one felt there was anything wrong with Tie Feng's sudden shift from arrogance to servility. It was the natural reaction when facing a powerhouse. Considering his earlier disrespectful remarks, the only reason he wasn't kneeling to apologize right now was that Su Mu didn't seem to care about the previous slight.
Su Mu smiled and nodded. A trace of helplessness lingered in his expression, as if he were genuinely troubled by his inability to destroy the Statue.
In truth, only he knew what he was actually thinking. He was acting through and through. The heavenly sword, the black hole—they were all illusions conjured by Myriad Phenomena. He hadn't attacked the Statue at all, and the Statue hadn't reacted in the slightest. The entire spectacle had been staged purely for the audience.
If even a Bronze 3 like Tie Feng couldn't hurt the Statue, how could he?
People were capable of anything under the suffocating pressure of death—let alone a group of Transcendents. Because of that, he had to establish himself as an absolute powerhouse. It wasn't just to guarantee his own safety, but to better command the group and increase their chances of surviving this ordeal.
To say he hadn't attacked wasn't entirely accurate, however. He had just attempted to use his mental energy to control the Statue, but he had failed. It felt as if the Statue were nothing more than an ordinary rock.
Within the crowd, a short, dark-skinned man narrowed his eyes in suspicion. He stared intently at Su Mu, seemingly having noticed something.
"Ah!!" A shrill, agonizing scream grabbed everyone's attention. The woman with the most severe injuries had collapsed. She rolled madly on the ground as the horrifying burns spread across her entire body.
Bizarrely, the crowd couldn't see any flames on her body at all.
A moment later, her screams faded away. The woman was reduced to nothing more than a charred corpse.
