I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World
Chapter 58: Myriad Phenomena
Knowing very little about the Transcendent Tier, Su Mu had no idea what had just happened, nor did he know where this extra Bronze Law had come from. He knew only one thing for certain: its name was Myriad Phenomena!
The churning in his mental energy lasted a few moments before slowly subsiding. Once calm, Su Mu began to organize his thoughts. The first thing he could confirm was that he had obtained Myriad Phenomena simply by sleeping. It appeared to be an ability completely independent of the Bronze Law, sitting entirely outside its network.
This was absurd. As far as he knew, the abilities of all transcendents came from the Bronze Law. How could an ability exist independently of it?
Could it be...
Su Mu had a faint suspicion about his dreams. Perhaps this mysterious dreamscape was itself a completely independent Law? One tied solely to the mind.
With so little information to go on, this was all he could surmise.
He thought about it for a moment.
"Forget it, I should focus on staying alive first. It feels pretty good to get a pleasant surprise like this," Su Mu said with a smile. He wasn't one to trouble himself over things he couldn't control. The secrets of the dreamscape might only unravel once he became stronger; for now, all he could do was quietly accept it.
Besides, he was extremely satisfied with the abilities Myriad Phenomena granted him.
......
"Jasmine, you sing so beautifully." Sitting in a coffee shop, Yang Dongqing looked affectionately at the girl beside him.
Jasmine had just finished her set and hadn't yet had time to change out of her stage outfit. She wore a pale blue dress, tailored to perfectly highlight her graceful curves, its skirt cascading down like a waterfall. The bodice featured an off-the-shoulder design that revealed her fair shoulders and alluring collarbones, prompting Yang Dongqing to keep stealing glances at her through his peripheral vision.
Jasmine took a delicate sip of her coffee, her beautiful large eyes sparkling with yearning for the future.
It all felt like a dream. It was as if she had been pulled from the muck of her old life overnight, emerging to transform into a radiant pearl.
She had realized her dreams, and she had found love.
"Really? You'd better not be lying to me. That was my first time performing on stage. I was so nervous I even messed up the lyrics a few times." Jasmine playfully stuck out her tongue, looking exceptionally cute with a ring of coffee foam lingering on her lips.
Yang Dongqing swallowed subconsciously, fighting an inner urge to lick it off.
"Of course it's true. Even when you mess up, you sound beautiful."
Jasmine smiled happily.
"Thank you, Yang Dongqing. My destiny only started to change after I met you."
More accurately, it had changed after she met Su Mu. But there was no way Jasmine would bring up another man's name right in front of her boyfriend.
"Don't say that, Jasmine. It should be—"
"Sir, your coffee," a waiter said, walking over and placing a cup in front of Yang Dongqing.
Yang Dongqing frowned slightly, glancing at the waiter. "I didn't order any coffee."
The waiter smiled and pointed toward a corner of the shop. "The lady over there ordered it for you."
Yang Dongqing turned to look and was taken aback. Sitting in the corner of the cafe was a woman. She was like a silently blooming orchid—tranquil and elegant, exuding a quiet, magnetic charm.
She wore a simple white silk blouse, the collar slightly open to reveal a long, fair neck and the faint curve of her delicate collarbones. The sleeves were rolled up slightly, and on her slender wrist she wore a refined, understated watch.
She had paired the blouse with black, straight-leg trousers. While the cut made it hard to judge their exact shape, one thing was certain: her legs were very long. Longer than Jasmine's.
The most striking thing about her, however, was her long, flaxen hair. Caressed by the sunlight, it gave off a warm, soft luster, while the slightly curled tips added a touch of intellectual beauty.
For some reason, the moment Yang Dongqing laid eyes on her, Su Mu came to mind. Their elegant, gentle auras were strikingly similar.
Just then, as if sensing his gaze, the woman tilted her head slightly to reveal a flawless profile. With a smile playing on her lips, she raised her pristine white coffee cup in a subtle, silent greeting.
"You're not allowed to drink that!" Jasmine pouted, fixing Yang Dongqing with the resentful glare of a kitten guarding its food.
Yang Dongqing chuckled awkwardly and looked away. "I don't know her. Please take this coffee back."
The waiter looked troubled. "Sir, I'm only responsible for delivering it. If you want to return it, please speak to the lady yourself. Oh, right—she also seemed to have written something on the napkin."
Having said that, the waiter turned and left.
Jasmine snatched up the napkin, puffing out her cheeks. "I want to see exactly what she wrote."
Yang Dongqing felt increasingly embarrassed, surprised to find himself suddenly so popular with women.
But when Jasmine unfolded the napkin, she froze. A look of panic flashed across her small face.
"Jasmine?" Realizing something was wrong, Yang Dongqing took the napkin and looked at it. There were only two words written on it: nightmare apostle!
His expression changed drastically. He stared at the intellectual beauty in the corner. An elegant, subtle smile graced her exquisite face, as if she were simply greeting a new friend.
"Jasmine, wait here. I'm going over to see what this is about." Yang Dongqing stood up immediately and walked toward the woman.
Jasmine grew tense. Having been in contact with Yang Dongqing for a while now, she already knew what a nightmare apostle meant, so naturally she was worried. However, she was a sensible woman and didn't want to cause trouble for her man. She didn't try to stop him. Instead, she gripped her phone tightly, opened her contacts, and tapped on Su Mu's number.
If the situation turned sour, she would call Su Mu immediately.
As far as she was concerned, Su Mu was the only one who could help Yang Dongqing. Even though Su Mu was cold-blooded and ruthless, Yang Dongqing had agreed to work for him for three years. She figured Su Mu wouldn't want to lose a subordinate for nothing.
"Who are you?" Yang Dongqing asked coldly as he sat down across from the woman.
Seeing her from the front, he realized he had still underestimated her beauty. She was even more stunning head-on than in profile—not even the celebrities on television could compare to her.
The woman set down her coffee cup. She gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, revealing a delicate, fair earlobe, and smiled. "Mr. Yang, please forgive my presumption. We're meeting for the first time. Here is my card."
She held out a business card.
Yang Dongqing took the card and saw what was written on it: Chairman of Bronze Coffin Co., Ltd.—Murong Mengli.
Seeing the name Murong Mengli, his pupils contracted sharply. "You're a noble?!" he exclaimed in shock.
Murong Mengli seemed used to this kind of reaction. Her expression remained unchanged; she simply smiled politely and nodded.
Yang Dongqing drew a sharp breath. In that moment, he finally understood why seeing Murong Mengli had immediately made him think of Su Mu. Their damn aristocratic aura was exactly the same.
This was his first time meeting a noble. The main reason he could be so sure of her status was her name!
Nobles all had compound surnames!
He didn't know about other countries, but he had heard a few things about the nobles of the Chiyan Empire. According to legend, the earliest nobles hadn't wanted to share the same surnames as commoners, feeling that it degraded their status. Therefore, they had changed their family names to compound surnames to distinguish themselves from the common folk.
In the Chiyan Empire, only nobles possessed compound surnames.
