I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World
Chapter 452: All Members of the Seven Deadly Sins Assemble!
Jun Wushang curled his lip in disdain. "What bullshit Celestial Sovereign of Longevity? The Leader of our Seven Deadly Sins is the one who resurrected you!"
"You wicked disciple, how dare you disrespect the Celestial Sovereign of Longevity! Your Leader is the Celestial Sovereign's divine envoy, so isn't it all the same? Wait..." Taoist Priest Xuanqing paused. "You just said 'Leader.' Does that mean you're now..."
Jun Wushang smiled smugly. A Silver-White Mask materialized on his face out of thin air; its cold, smiling visage reflected in Taoist Priest Xuanqing's eyes.
Startled, Taoist Priest Xuanqing leaped to his feet. "You actually became Lust!?"
Jun Wushang took off the mask and looked at him in surprise. "What's so shocking about that? Your dying wish was for me to become Lust."
"Aiya!" Taoist Priest Xuanqing slapped his thigh hard. "You don't understand! If you've really become Lust, it means my prophecy was right—the Seven Deadly Sins will destroy the world!
"At the time, I was dying, so I figured it didn't matter if the world ended. But now I'm alive! Do you get what I mean?
"If you in the Seven Deadly Sins destroy the world, where am I going to eat Roast Chicken? Where will I go for foot baths?
"My good disciple..."
He smiled, slightly fawning. "Do you think you could talk it over with your Leader? The world is perfectly fine; why go out of your way to destroy it? If you really must, just destroy half and leave the other half alone."Amused, Jun Wushang looked at his master. "Master, your prophecy wasn't wrong, but it wasn't completely right either."
Taoist Priest Xuanqing paused. "What do you mean?"
Recalling all the "heartless" deeds the Seven Deadly Sins had committed, Jun Wushang watched the dead leaves fluttering down like butterflies in the courtyard and smiled faintly. "Actually... the Seven Deadly Sins are saving the world."
...
...
A few days later.
Above the White Mist.
All members of the Seven Deadly Sins... assembled!
Attending the meeting for the first time, Yang Dongqing (Wrath) stared in disbelief at the sight before him.
A pervasive white mist filled his vision—blurred, hazy, and boundlessly expansive.
Towering stone pillars surrounded him, supporting a vast dome engraved with countless profound, dark-gold patterns.
Mysterious and magnificent, it was just like a Celestial Palace above the clouds.
He sat before an antique, luxurious long table, his body supported by a dark-red high-backed chair.
Slowly sweeping his gaze around, he saw that the circle of people seated nearby all wore Silver-White Masks. They were incredibly lifelike, each bearing a different expression.
Pride, Envy, Greed, Sloth, Gluttony, Lust!
Why was there no Wrath?
Yang Dongqing subconsciously touched the mask on his own face. In a daze, he remembered—he was Wrath.
Was this the meeting of the Seven Deadly Sins?
Just as he was reeling in shock, Lust suddenly turned to Greed and said, "I'll accept the victory this time. There is someone I absolutely must resurrect. Next time there's a mission like this, I won't fight you for it."
Lin Canyang froze for a moment and was about to say it was fine. But on second thought, he realized he was a formal member now too and no longer needed to be as humble as before. So, he coughed lightly and said in a cool tone, "It's fine."
Jun Wushang nodded and said no more.
These words made Lin Canyang feel slightly more balanced inside. He had previously risked his life hunting Nightmare Creatures just to show off in front of the Leader, hoping to use his wish to further enhance his strength and gain a higher position within the Seven Deadly Sins.
But later, he found out that Envy and Sloth had openly helped Lust, which led to Lust taking first place.
He was furious at the time, feeling that as a new member, he was being ostracized, discriminated against, and treated unfairly by the senior members of the organization!
But now that he knew Lust's true goal, he felt much better. It turned out he just wanted to resurrect someone. As long as Lust wasn't wishing for more power to threaten his status in the organization, it was fine.
Listening to their conversation, Yang Dongqing felt his body stiffen. A mission? Resurrection?
Resurrection was that simple?!
A wave of deep regret surged into his heart, and he suddenly felt remorseful. He was the very first person to know Su Mu. Logically, he should have enjoyed the advantage of being close to him. If he hadn't left back then, he wouldn't have suffered so much or spent so long trying to resurrect Jasmine. Perhaps if he had just stayed by Su Mu's side, Jasmine would have been resurrected long ago.
Moreover, in the end, Jasmine had been resurrected by Su Mu anyway...
His current mindset was exactly like someone who sold their house in their hometown to slave away in a big city, only to return home for the holidays ready to show off—and find out their hometown had been demolished and redeveloped, with all their childhood friends living in villas and driving luxury cars.
Meanwhile, he had only just scraped together a down payment, squeezing onto the subway every day to work a grueling 996 schedule.
"Everyone..." Su Mu's indifferent voice echoed from beneath his Silver-White Mask.
Everyone immediately sat up straight and looked toward Pride at the head of the table.
"I am preparing to leave."
Everyone was startled. Leave?
"I will soon head to Heaven—that is, above the surface." Su Mu raised a hand slightly, motioning for everyone to quiet down.
"After I leave, I need all of you to manage this world in my stead. The Seven Kings are now corrupt and unfit for their great responsibilities, and the noble system has severely restricted the world's development. In this world-ending crisis, we can only safely survive if everyone gives it their all.
"Therefore, I intend to overthrow the current Seven Kings. You will be the ones to carry out my will."
Su Mu's indifferent voice echoed Above the White Mist. It wasn't loud, yet it was deafeningly clear.
The current structure of the world was about to undergo a complete and total upheaval—all because of his few light words.
Su Mu hadn't spoken empty words; this was a judgment he had formed after observing things over this recent period.
The Seven Kings possessed martial prowess but were ultimately useless. As successors, they lacked the competence and decisiveness of the first-generation Kings. They had merely inherited the bloodline and the Royal Power Artifacts.
This was evident from their governance of the nobles. As the saying goes, to resist foreign aggression, one must first pacify the interior. In the face of the Nightmare Invasion, the nobles within the Empire had taken advantage of the national crisis to line their pockets and aggressively recruit private armies just to protect themselves. Yet, the Seven Kings had taken no measures against this whatsoever.
If the Seven Deadly Sins hadn't secretly intervened and forcefully dragged the nobles into the war, the world would have long since become a very different place.
Therefore, before he left, he decided to abolish the Seven Kings, abolish the nobles, open up the pathways for upward mobility, and forge a great era where everyone was like a dragon!
Only by doing so could the world truly be saved.
The world was never the world of a single person; it was the world of all people.
As Su Mu's words faded, everyone's expressions varied.
A hint of worry surfaced on Nangong Mengli's face. As a veteran of the Seven Deadly Sins, she naturally knew what the real world was like. This place was merely a Dream World; Heaven was the true world, and the world where Gods existed.
She had never had a good impression of the Gods. Unlike the descriptions in myths and legends, Gods were not divided into good and evil—it seemed as though all of them were evil.
To be precise, good and evil didn't exist for Gods; those were merely human standards.
Gods mostly treated humans with apathy, much like how humans treated ants. Even a great philanthropist would crush many ants underfoot when going out every day. To the people he helped, he was kind, but to the ants, he was evil.
That was why Nangong Mengli was worried. She feared Su Mu might encounter danger when he went to Heaven. But she didn't voice it aloud. She knew exactly what kind of man was sitting before her.
She also understood very well that sometimes, once a man made a decision, regardless of whether it was right or wrong, the only thing she could do was support him and help him secure the rear.
