I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World
Chapter 419: I Seem to Have Seen the Future
"What are you doing..." Nangong Mengli looked puzzled.
Su Mu ignored her and extended his hand. On his ring finger, Supreme Heaven shone brilliantly!
Hum!
A dark golden light illuminated the dim dungeon.
"I wish for Nangong Mengli to advance to Gold."
Hum! Hum!
As the offerings vanished, the dark golden light blazed even brighter, slowly engulfing Nangong Mengli.
Nangong Mengli felt a profound strangeness. She seemed immersed in a boundless darkness, placed outside the river of time. She could feel countless timelines intricately weaving together like silk threads.
In an instant, those countless timelines converged before her, slowly weaving into a mysterious, profound golden hourglass.
Whoosh! The golden hourglass sank into her body, and all the strange phenomena vanished.
When she opened her eyes, she seemed like a completely different person. Her aura was ethereal and erratic, as if she no longer existed in this world. The faint phantom of a golden hourglass hovered deep within her beautiful eyes.
"How do you feel?" Su Mu asked gently from the side.
Nangong Mengli stared at her own hands in surprise, repeatedly clenching and unclenching her slender, pale fingers.
"I seem to... have seen the future."
Su Mu raised an eyebrow. "What is your Gold Law?"
"Thorn of Time!"
"An ability that lets you see the future?"
Nangong Mengli shook her head. "Not in the traditional sense. When I prepare to assassinate someone, I can see the different futures created by striking at different moments and from different angles.
"Simply put, I can find the absolute perfect window to strike. Even before I make a move, I already know whether the assassination will succeed."
Su Mu nodded. It seemed Thorn of Time was perfectly suited for combat. It was essentially the power to flawlessly predict an enemy's next move.
"Try assassinating me."
Nangong Mengli looked at Su Mu. A Mithril Dagger materialized in her hand. Gradually, the golden hourglass surfaced in her eyes, and countless visions of future assassinations flashed past one by one.
In the end, she simply stood there for a long time without making a move.
"It's no use. There isn't a single future where I succeed." Nangong Mengli smiled and put away the dagger.
"The fact that you can make that judgment proves Thorn of Time isn't weak. You'll have few rivals at the Gold tier, and you could even retreat unscathed against a Gold King."
Nangong Mengli burst out laughing. "Are you praising me, or are you praising yourself?"
Su Mu shrugged. "Just telling the truth."
Nangong Mengli's ability was undeniably powerful. An assassination style rooted in time acceleration that could also predict an opponent's next move was practically invincible within the same tier. Why only 'practically'? Because Su Mu was also Gold.
"Set aside your current tasks for now and go find the Sword of Royal Power. Currently, the Dragon King only holds the scabbard of the original Sword of Royal Power. I have two of the Twelve Swords of Royal Power, so I'll leave the remaining ten to the Seven Deadly Sins."
"Understood, I'll pass the mission on to the other members. However, the Sword of Royal Power has been missing for years; finding it won't be easy."
Su Mu smiled faintly, rubbing Supreme Heaven on his finger. "Don't worry, it will point the way."
He had thoroughly experienced the wonders of Supreme Heaven over the past few days. A power that made wishes come true—was there anything more convenient in the world?
But for all its convenience, it was far too expensive. After helping Nangong Mengli break through to Gold, he had practically exhausted his entire stash of treasures. He needed to find somewhere to restock.
Although he could sacrifice his own spiritual energy to Supreme Heaven, he mostly used his daily spiritual energy regeneration to wish for physical enhancements. This was a strategy he had settled on a long time ago.
He would use Supreme Heaven to convert spiritual energy into physical strength, forming a cycle like a perpetual motion machine.
This approach had been highly effective. His current spiritual energy was already no weaker than a Gold King's. By continually sacrificing a Gold King's volume of spiritual energy every single day, just how much physical enhancement could he wish for?
Su Mu didn't really know, as he had no frame of reference. He only knew that even if Void Devourer—one of the Twelve Swords of Royal Power—hacked directly at his body, it wouldn't even break his defense.
At this rate, an illusionist like him would probably end up with the strongest physical body in the world.
He was the only person in the world who could use Supreme Heaven to this extent. Even if someone else obtained it, they wouldn't be able to use it endlessly because they lacked an infinite supply of offerings. He was different; he had boundless spiritual energy.
"If we have a direction to follow, then it won't be an issue. With the current influence of the Seven Deadly Sins, finding the Twelve Swords of Royal Power won't be hard. But as for the Artifacts of the Seven Kings... I'm afraid we'd have to face the Seven Kings directly. Though, I could try and see if I can steal a Royal Power Artifact..."
"There's no need," Su Mu said, shaking his head. "I'll handle the rest."
He intended to retrieve the remaining Royal Power Artifacts himself. The other members of the Seven Deadly Sins were strong enough to deal with Gold-tier experts, but they were vastly outmatched against a Gold King—especially one wielding a Royal Power Artifact.
He had to step in personally. Besides, he wanted to test just how strong his physical body had become.
Since he had decided to make a move, he obviously couldn't do it under the guise of Pride. After a moment of thought, he made his choice. 'It'll be you... Wrath!'
The fact that Dongfang Yuan had previously impersonated Wrath was no longer a secret. It was already widely known across the various nations. After all, Dongfang Yuan was the number one god of war of the Chiyan Empire. Everyone knew of his ability to manipulate gravity; a simple mask wasn't enough to hide it.
This time, he would let the real Wrath make an appearance.
To prevent his true identity from being exposed, Su Mu planned to rely entirely on Giant Demon and his physical strength, completely abstaining from his Illusion Technique.
His real identity had long since shot to fame, making him a major figure within the Divine Dream World. As news of his battle record—slaying several Gold Nightmares—spread, he had even been crowned the number one illusionist.
As for whether using Giant Demon would trace back to his real identity—it absolutely wouldn't. Illusion Technique was rare, but Giant Demon was incredibly common. In fact, Giant Demon was the most widespread power among Gold-tier experts.
Soon after, Su Mu left the dungeon and headed up to the surface base.
Inside an empty room, he brought out Supreme Heaven and began to make a wish.
"I wish to sacrifice my spiritual energy to enhance my physical strength."
Hum!
As the dark golden light flared, Su Mu's majestic spiritual energy flooded into Supreme Heaven. Once his spiritual energy was drained completely, the dark golden light enveloped his entire body.
It permeated every cell and flowed through all his limbs and bones. It felt like countless tiny hammers constantly tempering his body.
His muscles trembled violently, as though billions of tiny electric snakes were coursing through them.
He had enjoyed this physical enhancement process countless times before; he was already used to it.
However, as he underwent more enhancements, the rate of his physical growth grew smaller. If sacrificing all his spiritual energy used to grant an increase of 10, it now only gave an increase of 5.
The spiritual energy expended was the exact same, yet the scale of improvement had dropped. This made Su Mu realize a simple truth: the human body has a limit.
