I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World
Chapter 406: Mad Dog
Seeing the words "Blood Clan Progenitor," the father and daughter both froze. The method to find Supreme Heaven actually lay with the Blood Clan Progenitor? What did she have to do with it?
"How could it be the Blood Clan Progenitor? There's no such thing as a Blood Clan Progenitor. It's clearly just Scarlet Moon imitating the first-generation Undead King," Shangguan Mingyue muttered in confusion.
At that moment, the dark gold text hovering in midair shifted again. More characters, as tiny as flies, surfaced and rearranged themselves to reveal further unknown secrets.
After reading this passage, the two of them were thoroughly shocked.
"What is the Seven Kings Barrier? Why would Supreme Heaven be hidden inside it, and why can the Blood Clan Progenitor open it?" Shangguan Mingyue grew increasingly bewildered. Was this still the world she knew? Why did she recognize all these words individually, but completely fail to understand them when strung together?
Shangguan Chen's eyes flickered, unable to conceal his shock. It was as if he had unearthed some world-shaking secret.
The Seven Kings Barrier?! Could this be the truth behind the disappearance of the first-generation kings?
Mingyue had said Supreme Heaven was hidden in the Abyss, yet also seemed to be in the Present World. Now the wish revealed it was hidden within the Seven Kings Barrier. Could it be...
Shangguan Chen's pupils contracted sharply as a realization hit him.
The Present World and the Abyss were connected; it was the Seven Kings Barrier that separated them!He knew the world was fake—a massive dream—but he had never been able to locate where this dream realm actually existed. Now he understood. This colossal dream that was the Present World actually existed within the Abyss.
Hahaha...
Shangguan Chen laughed wildly in his heart. So that's how it is! That's how it is! What a ridiculous bunch of people. And you are fit to be called first-generation kings? Sacrificing your lives for a fabricated world is simply idiotic!
Keep guarding this fake world of yours. I will ascend to Heaven alone and attain eternal life!
"Mingyue," Shangguan Chen said suddenly, his voice dropping low. "The Seven Kings Barrier is the barrier that protects this world. It is a bulwark constructed by the seven first-generation kings using their lives to isolate the Nightmare Invasion. Pride must have some ulterior motive for placing Supreme Heaven within the Seven Kings Barrier. He might be trying to use this opportunity to destroy the Seven Kings Barrier.
We cannot delay any longer. I absolutely will not allow the first-generation kings' life's work to be destroyed in a single stroke!"
"But why can the Blood Clan Progenitor retrieve Supreme Heaven from the Seven Kings Barrier?"
"The Blood Clan Progenitor was born from the combination of Scarlet Moon and the aura of the first-generation Undead King. She is essentially another first-generation Undead King. With partial authority over the Seven Kings Barrier, she can naturally retrieve Supreme Heaven from it."
"But..." Shangguan Mingyue vaguely felt that something wasn't quite right. "Then why was Pride able to..."
Hum!
The Primal Divine Magic continued to operate.
Shangguan Chen narrowed his eyes slightly. "Pride is a god. It is not surprising that he possesses some unimaginable methods," he said heavily. "Our most urgent task is to control Su Mu and prevent Supreme Heaven from being relocated."
"If Su Mu is Pride's avatar, why only control him? Why not kill him?"
"It is not that simple. Su Mu has Divinity protecting him. Wishing for his obliteration through the False Supreme Heaven is simply too difficult." Having fought him before, Shangguan Chen naturally knew exactly how troublesome Su Mu could be.
Back then, Su Mu had his body pierced by a Primal Divine Artifact yet emerged completely unscathed. Guarded by Divinity, he essentially possessed an Undying Body. Killing such an existence was impossible, even if they drained the entire treasury of the Chiyan Empire.
After all, the price for making a wish upon the False Supreme Heaven was doubled.
To Shangguan Chen, the most difficult thing about dealing with Su Mu was his ability to slip into another dimension at will. As long as that point was restricted, a mere Silver tier Transcendent—even one with the strength to punch above his weight and fight a Gold tier—was nothing but an ant in his eyes.
"Mingyue, you just need to make a wish to anchor Su Mu to this world, making him unable to escape into another dimension. If he cannot enter another dimension, it is equivalent to completely cutting him off from Pride. He will become nothing more than an ordinary Silver Transcendent, and dealing with him will be remarkably easy."
"I will think about it." Shangguan Mingyue was still hesitating. Her not-so-bright little head still felt that something was amiss.
A sharp glint flashed in Shangguan Chen's eyes. He did not push the issue. As long as there was enough time, he could slowly bring Shangguan Mingyue under his control.
"Mingyue, you can take your time considering how to deal with Su Mu. However, we can secretly make contact with the Blood Clan Progenitor and figure out a way to secure her help."
Shangguan Mingyue nodded, eventually sliding the Silver Ring onto her hand.
Night.
Shangguan Mingyue secretly departed the Imperial Palace, heading for the Blood Moon Empire alone.
By now, the borders of the Blood Moon Empire had long since devolved into a paradise for Nightmare Creatures. Massive numbers of Nightmare Creatures rampaged through the cities, reducing numerous coastal cities to ruins.
Since the Nightmare Invasion began, the Blood Moon Empire had suffered the heaviest losses, because the location of the Nightmare Invasion was closest to it.
Shangguan Mingyue stood atop a leaning high-rise in the ruins, the cold moonlight illuminating her breathtaking silhouette.
"Father, are you certain you can meet the Blood Clan Progenitor?"
Shangguan Chen's voice came from the Silver Ring. "Rest assured. Right now, I am but a wisp of a remnant soul. Slipping into the Blood Moon Imperial Capital will be very easy, and I won't be discovered. You just wait here. I will definitely find a way to persuade the Blood Clan Progenitor."
Shangguan Mingyue nodded, then tossed the Silver Ring from her hand.
A streak of silver light flashed and vanished, silently disappearing into the night.
Inside a hidden palace within the Blood Moon Imperial Capital.
The palace was cold and silent. In the massive hall, only a single red-clad figure sat solitarily upon a bronze throne, her hollow, lifeless eyes gazing up at the bright moon.
The moonlight spilled down like water, reflecting on the red-clad figure's waterfall of white hair, dyeing it silver and rendering her fair skin almost translucent.
Her crimson gown was very, very long. The hem draped down from the throne, completely covering the steps as if laying out a red carpet. The very end of the hem was not a physical entity at all, but rather resembled continuously churning red mist.
Suddenly, a Silver Ring floated in silently. A wisp of white smoke rose from it, slowly coalescing into the appearance of Shangguan Chen.
The Blood Clan Progenitor turned her head calmly and looked at Shangguan Chen. "You look familiar. I must have seen you somewhere before."
Shangguan Chen smiled slightly. "Shangguan Chen greets the first-generation Undead King."
Hearing this title, a flicker of reminiscence passed through the Blood Clan Progenitor's eyes. "It has been a long time since anyone called me by that name. Shangguan Chen? I remember now.
You were a follower of the Mad King. I remember you. In that era of turmoil, you were known as the first vanguard under the Mad King's banner. On the battlefield, you were always the first to charge the front lines, invincible and unbeatable."
A dark shadow flashed across Shangguan Chen's eyes. He did not want to recall the past. Back then, he was young and ambitious. To prove his worth before the Mad King, he fought in every single battle, forever charging at the very front. And because he followed the Mad King, many enemies mockingly called him a mad dog raised by the Mad King.
