I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World
Chapter 362: Why Haven't You Improved At All?
"Mad King... oh, Mad King. I never expected you to tell such a clumsy lie at a time like this. You can't fool me. For years, I've led the Primal Divine Cult, secretly sacrificing hundreds of thousands of people just to find a way to bring Supreme Heaven back from the Abyss. And do you know what answer I found?
"The answer is you! In this world, you are the only one who can bring Supreme Heaven out of the Abyss. Since then, I've dispatched cultists far and wide to search every layer of Hell. In name, they were searching for Heaven, but in reality, they were looking for you! At the time, I wondered why it would be a mere Silver Grade Nightmare Apostle like you. Now, I finally know the answer.
"So you were the Mad King all along! Hahaha... No wonder you're the only one who can retrieve Supreme Heaven. It's because Supreme Heaven was yours to begin with. What a pity—it will soon be mine, just like the Empire you founded."
Shangguan Chen's laughter grew utterly uninhibited. He was enjoying this moment far too much. Mocking the man he had once feared the most right to his face gave him a thrill even greater than ascending to Heaven.
Su Mu let out a quiet sigh.
Shangguan Chen's laughter paused. He sneered, "What? Are you going to beg for mercy? I advise you not to ruin my image of you. I refuse to accept that I once lost to a coward who fears death."
Su Mu shook his head slightly, a faint smile curling his lips. "Shangguan Chen, although I've already said this once, seeing you like this makes me want to say it again. After all these years, why haven't you improved at all?
"You want to beat me? You couldn't do it back then, and now... you stand even less of a chance!"
Just as Shangguan Chen was about to speak, a faint cracking sound came from the Gold Staff and the Gold Crown. The two supreme treasures trembled violently, completely out of control. The peaceful holy light that originally flowed across them suddenly flared up, burning as fiercely as a raging fire.
His expression shifted drastically. He stared at Su Mu in disbelief. "You..."BOOM! BOOM!!!
A deafening explosion shook heaven and earth. Piercing beams of holy light erupted from the Primal Supreme Treasures. Like billions of stray arrows, they instantly carved countless blazing rifts into the surrounding void.
The holy light intensified, finally converging into an incredibly brilliant divine radiance that could banish all darkness in the world before detonating outward.
The flash was like the birth of a universe. Centered on the Primal Supreme Treasures, it surged outward in a massive sphere. Wherever it passed, all matter was instantly annihilated. The void churned and twisted, as if the entire world were being dragged into an endless storm of radiant flames.
"No!!!"
Shangguan Chen let out a panicked roar. He fought desperately to block it, but in the end, he was swallowed by the holy light.
These two treasures, brimming with Primal divine power and devoutly worshipped by millions of Primal Cultists for years, unleashed a terrifying force in their moment of self-destruction.
A long time later, the storm of radiant flames finally dissipated. The land within a radius of ten thousand li had been completely leveled. Only the eternal Abyss remained unaffected, standing untouched in its original place.
Both Su Mu and Shangguan Chen had vanished without a trace.
After a long while, an elegant figure slowly materialized. He wore an impeccably tailored suit that hugged his tall frame perfectly. Holding his Snakewood Cane, he stood there without a single speck of dust on him.
Su Mu lightly adjusted his Tinted Glasses and casually swept his gaze around. A calm smile touched his lips. "Did he run?"
He figured Shangguan Chen wasn't dead. At most, he was heavily wounded. Although the explosion of the Primal Supreme Treasures carried immense power, Shangguan Chen was a Saint Grade expert who possessed the Pope's body. His resistance to Primal divine power was remarkably high, so he wouldn't die just like that.
Still, facing the self-destruction of the Primal Supreme Treasures at such close range was enough to make him suffer tremendously, even if he survived.
He guessed that Shangguan Chen was undoubtedly severely injured. Otherwise, with the man's strength, he would never have just fled.
Of course, it was also possible that the sudden reversal of their positions had dragged up Shangguan Chen's long-buried fears and scared him off.
In truth, this was merely a grand gift Su Mu had prepared for Shangguan Chen in advance. Returning in kind had always been his guiding principle.
Shangguan Chen thought his treacherous scheme had succeeded, entirely unaware that Su Mu had fallen for it on purpose.
Although he was currently affected by the Pope's memories and found it difficult to remain entirely rational, he retained more than enough sense to deal with a thief.
There was no way he would leave himself unguarded against two Primal Supreme Treasures gifted by an enemy. He had fully expected Shangguan Chen to tamper with them. What Shangguan Chen didn't know was that Su Mu had already assimilated the Pope's memories.
And the true master of these two Primal Supreme Treasures was the Pope. When it came to Primal Divine Magic and the control of Primal Supreme Treasures, no one in the world could surpass the Pope.
Therefore, Su Mu had planned to play along and deal Shangguan Chen a vicious blow.
Had Shangguan Chen not tampered with the two Primal Supreme Treasures, Su Mu might not have actually been able to hurt him. After all, Shangguan Chen was already a Saint Grade powerhouse.
Against an expert of that level, only the simultaneous point-blank detonation of two Primal Supreme Treasures had a chance of inflicting a severe wound.
He had deliberately let the Primal Supreme Treasures injure him earlier precisely to make Shangguan Chen lower his guard. Otherwise, if Su Mu had directly controlled the Primal Supreme Treasures to attack, the man would have easily dodged them.
In this battle, Shangguan Chen had feigned surrender to make Su Mu drop his guard. Unfortunately for him, Su Mu had anticipated his every move, played along with the scheme, and ultimately proven superior!
It went to show that combat wasn't just about raw power. With the right strategy, even an ant could shake a tree!
Even so, the explosive force of the two Primal Supreme Treasures was undeniably formidable. Although Su Mu had retreated to the Dream World the instant they detonated, he was still caught in the blast and killed by the Primal divine power, only to revive by relying on his Sea God Divinity.
If he hadn't escaped in time, the erupting Primal divine power might have even obliterated the Sea God Divinity.
Although Shangguan Chen fled with severe injuries, given his personality, he'll never give up on Supreme Heaven. He will definitely return once he heals. In that case, I should add another layer of insurance.
Su Mu thought to himself. He then vanished, returning to Holy Brilliance City.
He first took a stroll through the Primal Church but found no trace of Shangguan Chen.
"Cautious as expected," Su Mu murmured approvingly.
He had figured that if Shangguan Chen dared to return to Holy Brilliance City to recuperate, he could use the Primal Cultists to teach the man another proper lesson. Regrettably, Shangguan Chen hadn't dared to come back.
The next moment, a slit tore open between Su Mu's eyebrows, and his Silver Vertical Pupil revealed itself. A supreme divine aura violently erupted throughout Holy Brilliance City as a beam of holy light shot straight into the sky!
Within Holy Brilliance City, countless devout believers sensed the power of the Primal Angel and zealously fell to their knees in worship.
It wasn't long before several red-robed archbishops flew over. Upon seeing that it was Su Mu, their leader, Hongye, rejoiced. "Lord Divine Envoy, you have returned! I will go inform the Pope immediately!"
