I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World
Chapter 341: Power of a God
Su Mu flew across the city once more, choosing a different direction to enter the void at its edge. However, after passing through the emptiness, the exact same city appeared before his eyes.
Are countless identical cities linked together, or did I never leave in the first place?
He casually pulled out a chunk of Mithril the size of a baby's fist and tossed it beneath a large tree at the edge of the city.
This fist-sized chunk of Mithril was worth millions, but compared to his current wealth, it was a mere drop in the bucket.
The wealth within the Blood Moon Treasury far surpassed mortal imagination. Even the portion he had given to Duanmu Qing amounted to barely a tenth of the entire vault.
Mithril's properties were incredibly stable, granting it excellent resistance against Transcendent Tier power. It was the perfect material for a marker, as it was highly unlikely to be affected by external influences.
After leaving the marker, Su Mu crossed the void once more. Seeing the completely unchanged city before him, he returned to the edge and checked beneath the large tree, where he found the chunk of Mithril he had just dropped.
He picked it up and examined it closely, confirming it was the exact same piece.
It seemed he could only enter this city, not leave it.
With no other option, he turned his attention back to the city itself. Based on his past experience, as long as he dealt with the source of the Nightmare, it would naturally shatter and allow him to leave.Revealing himself, Su Mu quietly mingled with the city crowd. He found a cafe, ordered a coffee, and settled into a corner seat.
Business at the cafe was brisk. The shop kept several cats, drawing in quite a few female patrons.
There were office workers stopping by for afternoon tea, alongside college girls who came specifically to snap photos with the cats.
As one of the few men present, Su Mu's outstanding looks and distinct aura drew plenty of attention from the women in the shop, even tucked away in a corner.
Whether it was an illusion or not, the chatter in the cafe seemed to quiet down after his arrival. The previously boisterous, laughing girls suddenly became much more ladylike.
"Look at him, he's so handsome! He looks like a celebrity!"
"I wonder if he has a girlfriend."
"If I had a boyfriend like that, I'd lock him in my house so he could never leave, and I'd just work to support him."
"Hahaha, you dirty-minded thing, trying to keep him all to yourself? Count me in, we can support him together."
"You guys are all talk. If you're so brave, go over and hit on him."
"Watch me." A short-haired girl looking like a college student took a deep breath and stood up nervously. She slowly made her way toward Su Mu, her pace dragging the closer she got as she frequently glanced back at her roommates for support.
"You can do it!" her roommates whispered, clenching their fists to cheer her on.
Her glossy black, ear-length hair bounced playfully with every step.
Soon, she was only one seat away from him. The proximity sent her heart into a wild frenzy. His handsome features were flawless—so perfect they were almost blinding.
Su Mu didn't seem to notice her presence at all. He continued to enjoy his coffee, slipping his long, slender fingers through the handle to bring the cup to his lips. The smooth, natural curve of his mouth resembled a mountain ridge gently brushed by a spring breeze, carrying a faint, soft arc.
He parted his lips, revealing a glimpse of neat, pearly white teeth. The healthy, captivating pale red of his lips looked just like the intoxicating hues of dawn breaking across the horizon.
As his lips touched the rim and he took a light sip, his Adam's apple bobbed. The short-haired girl unconsciously swallowed. Her mind drifted into fantasies of brushing against his lips, experiencing that wondrous softness and warmth. She had the sudden, absurd urge to become that coffee cup.
"Excuse me..." the girl started, finally mustering her courage. But just as she spoke, a ball of yarn rolled right up to Su Mu's feet.
"Meow!" A chubby orange tabby scurried over and pounced on the yarn.
"I'm so sorry! This little guy is way too playful. He didn't hit you, did he?" An office worker in exquisite makeup, dressed in a form-fitting white blouse and a short black skirt, hurried over with an apologetic expression.
She scooped up the wrongly accused tabby and immediately used the opportunity to strike up a conversation with Su Mu.
Su Mu offered a faint smile. "It's all right. I like playful cats. They're cute."
The woman feigned pleasant surprise, acting as if she had just found a kindred spirit, and smoothly slid into the seat beside him.
Deflated, the short-haired girl who had just gathered her courage slumped her shoulders and returned to her seat, utterly dejected and frustrated.
The office worker shot the college girl a smug, triumphant glance before turning her attention back to Su Mu.
While the college girl had been entirely captivated by Su Mu's handsome face, the office worker possessed a more discerning eye. She noticed not just his looks, but his attire and aura.
She couldn't recognize the brand of his suit, but the fabric was impeccable. Every inch exuded luxury and quality, indicating it was worth an absolute fortune. Furthermore, his refined, aristocratic bearing wasn't something an ordinary family could ever cultivate.
Su Mu took in the expressions of both women, completely unfazed. He didn't care who struck up a conversation with him; he merely needed someone to provide basic information about the city.
He chatted casually with the woman. There was absolutely no need for hypnosis—she spilled everything she knew without hesitation.
Soon, he picked up on a blatant anomaly. A bizarre urban legend circulated throughout the city: at midnight, one must absolutely never look into a mirror. It was said that if you stared into one for too long, your reflection would step out and replace you.
To prove her point, the woman eagerly pulled out her phone and searched the news, pulling up numerous articles about the mirror legend.
Su Mu's eyes flickered. It seemed the source of this Nightmare was hidden within the mirrors. All he had to do now was wait for midnight.
He glanced at the time on her screen. It was just five in the afternoon, leaving plenty of time until midnight. He planned to use the remaining hours to hunt for more clues, but before he could even stand up—
BOOM!!!
A deafening explosion rocked the entire city.
The sky abruptly turned pitch black, plunging the world into an instant, eternal night.
Before Su Mu could react, the surrounding world was swallowed by the darkness.
The elegant cafe, the vibrant young women, everything—all of it vanished into thin air.
Having entered the dreamscape, Su Mu evaded the catastrophe. When the darkness before his eyes receded, he was stunned to find that everything around him had been reduced to an absolute void.
"This is... the power of a God!"
"It's the Shadow God!"
Su Mu was absolutely certain his senses weren't deceiving him. The all-consuming power that had just erupted belonged to none other than the Shadow God.
What on earth is going on? Isn't the Shadow God sealed away? Why would it suddenly unleash its power within this Nightmare and annihilate everything?
Before he could make sense of it all, a miraculous scene unfolded.
From out of the void, a brand-new city slowly rose. Endless streams of traffic and throngs of pedestrians materialized out of thin air, and he found himself standing right back at the very same intersection where he had started.
