I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World
Chapter 267: Su Mu, You Will Definitely Regret This!
"All right, Mr. Su, you're a smart man. Don't make this difficult for me. Please, lead the way."
Su Mu smiled at Lan He, genuinely amused. The Nightmare Apostles were a far more interesting group than ordinary transcendents. They were cunning, insidious, and would stop at nothing to achieve their goals. Most importantly, their abilities were incredibly bizarre and varied.
Transcendents generally relied on bloodline inheritances or consuming Transcendent Potions, resulting in relatively common abilities that lacked variety. Nightmare Apostles, however, as Chosen Ones, possessed an endless array of powers. Without knowing their trump cards, it was incredibly difficult for an ordinary transcendent to defeat a Nightmare Apostle of the same tier.
A Nightmare Apostle like Yang Dongqing—a Chosen One who had awakened such a painfully common Law—was a rare sight indeed.
As for Lan He's so-called Cursed Seed, Su Mu had clearly sensed it the moment it was planted. He had immediately sealed it within his soul just to see what Lan He was planning to do.
To his surprise, the man was just sowing them at random, planting one in whoever he met.
Unfortunately for Lan He, he had picked the wrong target this time. Su Mu's physical form was an Undying Body, but his soul was actually even harder to kill. The Divinity of the Three Gods was no mere decoration.
Seeing Su Mu remain completely unfazed, anger flashed across Lan He's face. "So you've chosen the hard way."
A dark gleam suddenly flashed through his pitch-black eyes as he triggered a small-scale eruption of the Cursed Seed, intending to teach Su Mu a lesson.
However, two seconds later, Su Mu was still smiling at him, his expression completely unchanged.Lan He froze. Refusing to believe it, he activated the Cursed Seed again, but it was completely useless.
His expression darkened. "Nice trick. You got me this time. Here's the Mithril Token."
Whoosh!
He tossed the Mithril Token over.
But Lan He moved right alongside the token. The Power of Curse and Resentment erupted from his body like thick ink as he charged at Su Mu with blinding speed.
Rip!
Su Mu's body was instantly torn apart by the Power of Curse and Resentment. But a second later, an unharmed Su Mu materialized out of thin air on the other side.
What!?
Shock flashed in Lan He's eyes, but his movements didn't slow in the slightest.
"Cursed Binding!"
Limitless Power of Curse and Resentment surged out, transforming into several pitch-black ghostly hands that coiled tightly around Su Mu.
"Let's see how you dodge this time!" Lan He sneered, striding toward Su Mu. Yet he froze after a single step—he found he couldn't move his feet.
Looking down, he was instantly filled with horror. Unbeknownst to him, countless pitch-black chains had wrapped around his body. A wooden cross stood right behind him, and he was already bound tightly to it.
"What is this!?" Lan He struggled violently, but no matter how fiercely the Power of Curse and Resentment surged from his body, he couldn't shake the wooden cross in the slightest.
Tap, tap, tap...
Unhurried footsteps approached from a distance. Su Mu walked over at a leisurely pace, the bindings on his own body dissolving into nothingness.
Coming to a halt, Su Mu stared at the panicked Lan He with the same unwavering smile on his face.
He whispered into Lan He's ear, "You didn't really think our handshake was just a simple handshake, did you?"
Lan He's pupils violently contracted. "What did you do to me!?"
In truth, the moment they shook hands on the bus, Su Mu had activated Thousand Illusions of Fleeting Life, planting the seed of an Illusion Technique inside Lan He.
Lan He's Power of Curse and Resentment was certainly mysterious and hard to defend against, but when it came to scheming, Su Mu's Thousand Illusions of Fleeting Life was a step above. It didn't even require physical contact; eye contact alone was enough.
Lan He liked planting his seeds everywhere, and Su Mu was exactly the same.
Against a man who would hypnotize a passing dog just for the sake of it, Lan He's methods were still a bit too green.
"Mr. Lan, please enjoy yourself in this illusion space for the next twenty-four hours. You like resentment, don't you? I bet you've never tasted your own. If you can pull through, I'll spare your life."
Su Mu flipped his palm, and a silver-gleaming Scalpel appeared in his grasp. He pressed the icy blade against Lan He's neck and slowly dragged it down.
The sheer terror and cold made Lan He break out in a dense layer of goosebumps, every hair on his body standing on end.
"An Illusion Technique!?" Disbelief flashed through Lan He's eyes. "Impossible! We only made contact for a brief moment on the bus! You're just at Silver 1, how could you instantly trap me in an illusion!?
"My Power of Curse and Resentment is built entirely on resentment. With my mental strength, there's no way I'd fall for your Illusion Technique without noticing! Don't try to trick me!"
He would rather believe Su Mu was using some special Law than accept this was an Illusion Technique. He had devoured so much resentment that his mental strength far surpassed others in his tier. How could he fall prey to a Silver 1's illusion without sensing a thing?
"What a foolish man." Su Mu shook his head slightly, his indifferent eyes reflected in his Tinted Glasses. "You are just as laughable as your fragile mental strength."
Slash!
The icy Scalpel sliced gently, blooming a beautiful crimson flower of blood on Lan He's body.
Lan He groaned in pain, but before he could catch his breath, another cut followed. Then another, and another...
The agonizing pain radiating from every inch of his body finally broke his restraint, forcing him to scream miserably.
"Aaahhhh!!"
"Su Mu! I'll kill you!!"
An hour later, Lan He had been reduced to a blood-soaked mess, his breathing weak and his spirit exhausted.
Yet, with a snap of Su Mu's fingers, all the blood vanished. The torn flesh on Lan He's body also rapidly healed itself.
That demonic voice echoed once again. "My apologies, Mr. Lan. I'm a bit out of practice. I ran out of places to cut after only eight hundred or so slices. Let's aim for a thousand this time. Please forgive any shortcomings on my part."
The miserable screams echoed once more.
"Aaaah! Su Mu, you'll die a horrible death! Kill me if you have the guts!"
"Su Mu, as long as you don't kill me today, sooner or later, I'll return today's pain to you tenfold!"
Time ticked by, minute by minute. Those short twenty-four hours felt like an entire century to Lan He.
As the Illusion Technique broke, Lan He's standing body crashed heavily to the ground. His eyes were entirely bloodshot, white foam bubbled from his lips, and his body curled up in constant convulsions.
Su Mu offered a word of praise. "I didn't expect Mr. Lan's will to be so resilient. Truly admirable. Congratulations on surviving."
Lan He's eyes were already overflowing with a mixture of terror and hatred. He trembled constantly, finding it difficult to even open his mouth.
With that, Su Mu turned to leave.
"Wh... why not kill me?" Lan He's weak voice rang out.
"Because you're too weak. You aren't worth killing."
Lan He's face twisted into a ferocious snarl, as if he had just suffered the ultimate insult. Forcing out his last breath, he roared, "You'll regret this! Su Mu! You'll definitely regret this! If you don't kill me today, I'll kill you sooner or later!"
"Then fight with everything you have to live. Work hard to grow stronger. I'll be waiting for the day you stand before me again," Su Mu said without looking back, his figure slowly vanishing into the darkness.
Staring at Su Mu's retreating back, a powerful will to live erupted from Lan He's eyes. His fractured willpower steadied itself, and the flames of hatred in his eyes burned so fiercely they seemed to light up the surrounding dark.
"I will survive!" He clenched his fists tightly, forcing himself to his feet through the agonizing pain, and limped away while leaning heavily against the rock wall.
In the darkness, sensing Lan He's overwhelming desire to live, Su Mu smiled silently. 'Interesting people shouldn't die too early, should they?'
He couldn't care less about Lan He's revenge, just as an elephant paid no mind to the threat of an ant. Besides, when Lan He's soul had been on the verge of collapse, he had already tampered endlessly with that battered, riddled spirit.
