I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World
Chapter 248: Entering a Low-Tier Game
Bronze Coffin Company, Nangong Mengli's office.
Nangong Mengli sat in her executive chair, flipping through documents. With the entire Murong Family's assets now under her control, she had been much busier lately.
She wore a look of deep focus. One hand lightly turned the pages, while the other rested naturally on the armrest. Her long, slender legs, clad in exquisite black stockings, were crossed at the knee. At that moment, however, the shadow beneath her feet began to writhe unnaturally.
Nangong Mengli furrowed her brow. She vanished from her seat as though teleporting, but the shadow clung to her, inseparable.
"Who's there?"
The shadow writhed silently and stood up on its own, morphing into a towering shadow monster. Even hunched over, its head brushed the ceiling, radiating a heavy, oppressive presence.
Ripples like water surfaced on the shadow monster's chest, and Su Mu slowly stepped out from within.
Nangong Mengli's brow relaxed, a teasing smile curling her lips. "Suddenly popping out from under a girl's skirt isn't exactly gentlemanly."
Su Mu shrugged. "This is my pet, Bubai. I mentioned it to you before. Its ability is shadow jumping, so it can only emerge from shadows."
Nangong Mengli examined Bubai with curiosity. "I didn't expect it to be this huge."She turned back to Su Mu. "Coming to see me like this—what's the matter?"
"How did the registration go?"
"I've already registered you. Just take your Bronze Coffin Company ID badge directly to the Star City Law Enforcement Bureau. They will escort all of you to the Imperial Capital together."
Su Mu nodded. "After I leave, I'll leave Sloth in your care. Her Breath of the Wood Spirit is perfect for refining Transcendent Potions. Your financial resources combined with her abilities will provide excellent logistical support for the Seven Deadly Sins.
"Also, you are both at Silver 1, and it's been a while since your advancement. You can start gathering the Transcendent Potions needed to advance to Silver 2. Although you both rely on bloodline power, natural advancement is simply too slow. It's much faster with the help of medicine."
"Mhm, I've already met Sloth. She's quite a cute little girl. I don't know what kind of spell you put on her, but at such a youthful age, she locks herself in the lab all day. She is clearly so hardworking, yet you insist on calling her Sloth. Does this count as your twisted sense of humor?
"But precisely because of that, her constant use of the Breath of the Wood Spirit has caused her digestion progress to skyrocket. She has already touched the threshold of Silver 2.
"I suspect she can advance on her own without the aid of Transcendent Potions. My situation is a bit more complicated. The Nangong Family's Transcendent pathway is rare to begin with, and the corresponding Transcendent materials are even harder to come by. Independent advancement will be very difficult.
"Because using Instant Bloom drains lifespan, I can't use my ability non-stop like Sloth does."
"I came this time exactly to solve your lifespan problem. Hold out your hand."
Nangong Mengli didn't hesitate, openly extending her hand toward Su Mu. Her hands were smooth and delicate, slender and long, like a carefully carved piece of art. Her neatly trimmed nails were coated in an elegant polish that gave off a faint gleam under the light.
Su Mu reached out as well, but he didn't shake her hand. Instead, a pale green, semi-transparent tentacle slid out from his sleeve.
"Hold onto it."
Nangong Mengli examined the tentacle curiously. Unafraid, she obediently grasped it.
A moment later, her beautiful eyes went wide. A searing energy surged from the tentacle and poured into her body, suffusing her with a comfortable warmth. It felt like soaking in a hot spring, giving her a floaty, euphoric sensation.
"This... is this lifespan? Did you give your own lifespan to me?"
"This is lifespan I plundered from others. While the quality is poor, it makes up for it in quantity. It's more than enough for you to use Instant Bloom."
Su Mu retracted the tentacle. Nangong Mengli felt reluctant to let it go; the sensation of surging vitality was truly intoxicating. It felt as if she had grown several years younger out of nowhere, her body becoming incredibly light.
"I hope that the next time we meet, you'll already be at Silver 2."
"Don't worry, I will be." Nangong Mengli broke into a radiant smile. The biggest drawback of Instant Bloom was the toll it took on her lifespan. Now that this issue was resolved, advancing to Silver 2 was nothing more than a matter of time.
"Right, there's also Jun Wushang. Whenever conditions allow, train him more. Concentrate resources on him to accelerate his advancement."
Nangong Mengli looked slightly surprised. "Why? Do you think highly of him?"
"His master, Taoist Priest Xuanqing, is Lust, and he is the future Lust. With his master's help, he has currently advanced to Bronze 2 and mastered the Longevity Daoist Magic."
"Mhm, got it. Be careful on the road, Susu..."
Su Mu nodded and turned to leave.
Just as he opened the door, he noticed his lips felt a bit moist. He couldn't help but look back. "That's not how you use Instant Bloom."
Nangong Mengli's pretty face flushed red, her gaze unconsciously drifting to the side. "What are you talking about? I don't understand."
...
...
Star City Law Enforcement Bureau.
This was Su Mu's third time coming to this place. The first time was after killing the Murong Family Head, when he was brought in as a suspect. The second time was to meet Yan Moxie under the guise of Pride.
And now, for his third visit, he came as a Nightmare Apostle of the Bronze Coffin Company.
Here, he met with Zhuang Qing, the man he had previously hypnotized—the wielder of Sequence 1 of the Bronze Law, Dream Journey Spirit Trace.
"Leader, including yourself, there are a total of three Silver Grade Nightmare Apostles in Star City qualified to go to the Imperial Capital," Zhuang Qing whispered, leaning close to Su Mu when no one was around.
"One is a civilian Nightmare Apostle who hasn't joined any company, Wen Xuan. There's nothing particularly special about him. He keeps a low profile. His file shows his level as Silver 1, with his Law unknown.
"The other one is someone you should pay attention to—Yan Wu, Silver 1. He used to be a member of the Transcendent Company under Murong Yun. He's notoriously brutal and tyrannical, with a long history of misdeeds. He committed numerous atrocities and was wanted by the Law Enforcement Bureau, but Murong Yun suppressed all of it. Now that Murong Yun is dead, Yan Wu has lost his backer and become a stray dog.
"After Nangong Mengli took power, he intended to join the Bronze Coffin Company, but she rejected him due to his criminal record. Since you currently belong to the Bronze Coffin Company, I'm worried he might try to cause trouble for you.
"His Law is also unknown, but it should be related to the physical body. His most famous battle record is killing a Silver 2 Transcendent above his own tier."
Su Mu nodded casually to show he understood. A Silver Rank 1 Transcendent wasn't enough to make him worry.
He had already schemed to kill two Gold powerhouses—why would he care about a Silver?
To be honest, whenever he thought about exploring the Nightmare World with a group of Silver Transcendents, he couldn't shake the feeling of being a top-ranked master smurfing in a low-tier game. Although his own actual strength was merely Silver 1, as Pride—the Head of the Seven Deadly Sins—he had used a host of Gold powerhouses as chess pieces while he was still at Bronze, and even forced King Chi to swallow a loss. Naturally, he had the right to talk about stomping noobs.
He had always played in peak-tier matches. Now that he had suddenly dropped into a low-tier game, he really wasn't quite used to it.
