I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World
Chapter 238: Pride Comes to the Rescue
Facing King Chi's casual strike, Specter clearly felt the pressure. His expression remained calm and he made no move to evade, but as the small golden sun hurtled toward him, boundless resistance seemed to materialize in the air.
The small sun's flight slowed. It ground against the invisible force in the air with violent friction, erupting in a piercing sizzle.
Finally, less than a meter from Specter's face, the small sun extinguished completely.
King Chi's eyes instantly lit up, as if she had just found a fun new toy. Her figure abruptly vanished, leaving only a dazzling burst of golden fire in her wake.
A split second later, golden flames erupted out of thin air right in front of Specter. King Chi stepped out of the fire, thrusting forward a palm wreathed in golden flames.
Bang!
A sonic boom shattered the air. Specter plummeted to the ground like a falling meteor, smashing into the earth and sending countless cracks tearing across the surface.
Just as everyone thought the battle was over, the ground began to tremble violently. Countless pieces of rubble slowly levitated into the air as Specter drifted upward from the earth. He snapped his hand forward. In an instant, the overwhelming storm of debris accelerated hundreds of times over, tearing through the air with furious sonic shrieks as it blasted toward King Chi.
King Chi made no attempt to dodge. The golden fire on her body flared into a blazing barrier, instantly vaporizing every piece of rubble that struck it.
Specter's assault didn't stop. The shriek of twisting metal echoed around them—it was the Mithril cage that had previously held everyone prisoner. The cage was hoisted up as if by a pair of invisible, massive hands, then violently dismantled into long rods of Mithril that orbited Specter. It wasn't just the Mithril cage. The high platform where Gongsun Quan and the others stood began to disintegrate, breaking down into massive boulders that slowly rose into the air.
A shocking scene unfolded. Everything above the ground, save for the people themselves, seemed to defy gravity and orbit Specter.
This is... Psychokinesis! Su Mu's eyes flashed. Based on the methods Specter had displayed earlier, he had already roughly deduced the man's ability—Psychokinesis!
It was a variant of mental energy, a materialized form that could directly interfere with physical reality. Specter's ability to fly was also the work of Psychokinesis.
Could I use a method like this?
Su Mu tried, but found that he currently couldn't pull it off at all. He was unable to materialize his mental energy. It wasn't an issue of quantity, but of quality.
If his own mental energy was a gas, then Specter's Psychokinesis was a solid. That was the gap between them.
Still, Su Mu wasn't bothered. He was only at the Bronze tier, after all. If he could already employ Gold-tier methods, that would be truly absurd.
Boom!
Empowered by Psychokinesis, the sky full of floating debris shattered the sound barrier, hurtling straight toward King Chi.
King Chi still made no move to evade. The golden fire burning around her acted as an uncrossable chasm; anything that touched the flames vaporized instantly—even the Mithril!
"This is getting a bit boring," King Chi said with utter disinterest, watching Specter push himself to control his Psychokinesis.
Suddenly, she was in the mood for potato chips. She'd initially thought the leader of the Revolutionary Army might give her a good thrill, but after exchanging just two blows, she decided she'd rather be back at the palace eating potato chips.
Specter's heart sank. Staring at King Chi as she stood suspended in the air, he felt his confidence waver for the very first time. He had once believed that as long as they seized Supreme Heaven, they would stand a chance at defeating the Chiyan Imperial Family. But now, it was clear: even without Supreme Heaven, King Chi was still utterly unshakeable.
It wasn't just the absolute defense of those golden flames that ignored all attacks. King Chi's own power was equally terrifying.
The single blow that had knocked him out of the sky moments ago had nearly broken his Psychokinesis shield.
For his own safety, he kept a constant Psychokinesis shield hovering just one millimeter above his skin at all times. This barrier could block the vast majority of attacks, even fending off strikes from powerhouses at his own Gold tier. Only arcane abilities—like the curse from earlier—could bypass it.
Yet, under King Chi's casual palm strike, that shield had nearly shattered. And that was without her even using her full strength. If she were to go all out, he would probably be killed instantly!
No! I can't let this drag on.
Specter knew full well that his only chance of victory was to stake his life on one final attack before King Chi got serious!
He withdrew all his projected Psychokinesis, even dropping the defensive shield around his own body. Without his power holding them aloft, countless stones and chunks of ruined architecture rained down from the sky.
Gathering every drop of his Psychokinesis into a single point, he aimed it at King Chi and violently clenched his fist!
Psychokinetic Meteor!
Boom!
The very air seemed to implode. A massive, deafening roar erupted directly around King Chi.
King Chi raised a delicate brow, a flicker of surprise crossing her stunning face. She could clearly sense an invisible force crushing inward around her. The monstrous pressure bore down on her like a million-ton mountain, compressing her golden flames until they clung tightly to her skin.
"Now this is getting interesting," she said with a faint smile, and for a moment, the world seemed to drain of color.
A crisp phoenix cry erupted from within King Chi. The moment the cry rang out, heaven and earth seemed enveloped by boundless might as a golden phoenix phantom slowly rose.
The phoenix spread its wings, kicking up a raging gale that sent golden flames overflowing like a flood. It held its head high, glaring down at creation in disdain, as if making all living beings bow in submission before its blinding radiance and majestic aura.
Bang!
The mighty Psychokinesis field crushing King Chi instantly shattered. Golden fire blazed between heaven and earth, like the rising sun.
But Specter, having unleashed the Psychokinetic Meteor, suffered a devastating backlash. His face instantly drained of color. With a muffled groan, blood spewed from his mouth and his body plummeted straight down from the sky.
Sprawled on the ground, Specter stared up in horror at King Chi, who soared high in the heavens like a phoenix. His heart was consumed by bitterness and despair.
It wasn't until this very moment that he truly understood: the number one person beneath a King... was ultimately not a King.
"I... lost," he gasped. He collapsed on the ground, completely bereft of the strength to stand.
It wasn't just him who lost. Yang Dongqing and the rest of the rioting prisoners had already been suppressed by the guards. Some were dead and others wounded, while most were simply put back in chains.
King Chi slowly drifted down from the sky, golden flames reflecting in her amber eyes. She walked slowly toward Specter, but in the next second she suddenly paused, her delicate brow furrowing.
Because a figure had suddenly appeared in her path.
The figure wore a meticulously tailored tailcoat and a top hat, resting his weight on a Cane as he stood quietly like an elegant gentleman. The Silver-White Mask on his face bore a disdainful, mocking smile that was exceptionally glaring.
No one knew when this person had appeared; it was as if he had been there all along.
When everyone saw the Silver-White Mask on his face, the atmosphere turned eerily quiet, because they all knew exactly what that mask meant.
They just couldn't believe he would actually dare to appear here, let alone block King Chi's path.
The already despairing Specter stared at the figure in absolute disbelief, his pupils trembling.
A glimmer of amusement flashed in King Chi's amber eyes, as if she had just spotted far more interesting prey. She parted her lips, enunciating each word. "Seven Deadly Sins... Pride!"
