I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World

Chapter 179: You All Heard It, He Admitted He's the Fake!

  • Next Chapter

There were plenty of smart people among the nightmare apostles who immediately understood what Pang Yang meant. They shouted, "Pang Yang, stop wasting words on him! Let's attack together!"

"You! You bastards!" Hu Jie roared, his eyes splitting with rage. Driven into the madness of a dying man, he bellowed, "I'll kill all you traitors!"

Just then, Su Mu's elegant voice rang out. "He's telling the truth. Mr. Hu is actually the true sea god's familiar, and I am just a fake."

Everyone's faces stiffened. They couldn't understand why Su Mu would expose such an obvious lie. Was he planning to purge everyone?

"Hahaha... Did you all hear that? He admitted it! He admitted it himself!" Hu Jie laughed maniacally. "He's the fake, and I'm the real one!"

Su Mu watched him, a pleasant smile curving his lips. "That's right, Mr. Hu is the true sea god's familiar. Therefore, for the future of the Sea Kingdom, and for the justice of humanity... I must trouble you all to arrest this true sea god's familiar."

"Yes, Mr. Su!" Pang Yang was the first to respond, launching a ruthless attack at Hu Jie.

"Hu Jie! You damn sea god's familiar! Posing as the King all these years while secretly devouring the souls of the citizens—your sins are unforgivable!"

"Today, we are fortunate to have Mr. Su uphold justice. We shall carry out the will of heaven!"

In that moment, the crowd looked like incarnations of justice, heroic champions of heaven's will, as they fearlessly charged at a dumbfounded Hu Jie.

If one ignored the events leading up to this point and only looked at this single scene, anyone would think it was the happy ending of a fairy tale: the brave warrior exposing the monster King's true form and leading the deceived citizens in a united crusade against evil.

But Mu Qing and the others who had witnessed the entire process only felt a deep sense of irony.

Whatever they claimed about the sea god's familiar, the Sea Kingdom, or justice—it was all a sham, a bunch of empty slogans.

Just like that, surrounded by a horde of undead sirens, the twenty-odd nightmare apostles engaged in a life-and-death struggle against the sea god's familiar.

"I'll kill you! Die!" The agonizing roars of countless souls echoed from within Hu Jie. His body began to expand grotesquely, the black fleshy tentacles covering him rapidly elongating like a dense nest of venomous snakes.

Two nightmare apostles failed to dodge in time and were directly swept up by the black tentacles. They let out agonizing screams before their souls were extracted.

Hu Jie had completely lost his mind, frantically attacking the remaining nightmare apostles. Facing Hu Jie's Undying Body, they could only struggle to parry his blows.

Only after over a dozen nightmare apostles had been killed or injured was Hu Jie finally brought under complete control. His body was pinned to the ground by long spears, tightly bound in a dense layer of chains, and his limbs had been severed.

Covered in wounds, Pang Yang and the survivors approached Su Mu, their faces filled with a mix of exhaustion and sycophancy.

"Mr. Su, we did not fail you."

Su Mu smiled faintly. "You did well. Now, you can go die."

The expressions on Pang Yang and the others drastically changed.

"No, no, no! Mr. Su, you can't kill us! We're the backbone of the Sea Kingdom, and we can provide you with souls just like before! Haven't you become the new sea god's familiar? Let's just keep everything the way it was, alright? You're going to need souls anyway!"

Su Mu frowned, his voice ringing with righteous indignation. "Insolent. I've already told you I am not a sea god's familiar, yet you dare slander me? Men, kill them all."

With a grand wave of his hand, the endless army of undead sirens surged forward like a tidal wave from behind him, encircling Pang Yang and the others.

Some cursed furiously, while others immediately dropped to their knees to beg for mercy, but the only response they received was the guttural roaring of the undead sirens.

The injured Pang Yang and his group were absolutely no match for the undead siren army. They fled in a panic, but it was utterly futile. There were sea monsters everywhere, and since the Sea Kingdom was an island nation, fleeing into the sea was tantamount to suicide. Their fates had already been sealed.

"Hahaha... you bastards! Damn you! Damn you all!" Hu Jie laughed maniacally.

"Have you laughed enough? It's time to send you on your way." Su Mu's gentle voice murmured beside Hu Jie's ear, drifting in like a warm spring breeze.

Hu Jie's body trembled. He laughed madly, "Su Mu! Do you think you've already won? Hahahaha... Being a sea god's familiar isn't that simple! From this moment on, you'll lose your soul! You'll lose every joy of being human! You will forever be exactly like me—you'll become a monster..."

Su Mu smiled and reached out, gripping one of the black fleshy tentacles on Hu Jie's back. "Here. Feel for yourself whether my soul is still intact."

Hu Jie's laughter choked in his throat. The moment Su Mu's palm made contact with the black tentacle, Hu Jie could vividly and undeniably sense the soul dwelling within Su Mu's body!

"No!" he roared in disbelief, his face twisting into complete and utter despair. "Why... Ahhhhh!"

Before he could even finish his question, a streak of azure light flashed past, and Hu Jie died, swallowed by endless despair.

He died with his eyes wide open!

He had thought Su Mu would suffer the exact same torment he had endured all these years, forced to live forever as a monster. Only at the very end did he realize that Su Mu had already achieved the state he had always dreamed of.

Having dealt with Hu Jie, Su Mu turned to Mu Qing and the others. "I'll leave the cleanup here to you. I have other matters to attend to."

With that, he vanished into the night.

He casually found a secluded, empty spot, came to a halt, and closed his eyes to enter the dream.

Using the power of the Celestial Sovereign of Longevity to kill Hu Jie just now had slightly disrupted the balance within his soul.

Originally, the Celestial Sovereign of Longevity and the Sea God had been caught in a stalemate. However, Hu Jie had also possessed a tiny fraction of the Sea God's power. Under normal circumstances, that meager power wouldn't have affected the Celestial Sovereign of Longevity in the slightest, but right now, it had become the critical factor that tipped the scales.

Within the dream, the Sea God began to gain the upper hand. More and more black fleshy tentacles extended outward, relentlessly spreading toward the Celestial Sovereign of Longevity.

Su Mu's eyes flickered. He couldn't possibly allow the Sea God to win. If the Sea God emerged victorious, his soul would be reaped, and he would be utterly reduced to a monster just like Hu Jie. To be without a soul was no different from being dead.

With that, the silver mark between his eyebrows abruptly split open, and a Silver Vertical Pupil brimming with Divinity forced its way out.

The only thing capable of fighting a God was another God, and the Primal Angel was his final trump card!

Whoosh!

A brilliant beam of holy light blasted into the black tentacles, instantly obliterating countless fleshy appendages.

The Celestial Sovereign of Longevity, who had been falling into a disadvantage, finally exerted its strength. Hundreds of millions of translucent tentacles shot out to launch a counterattack against the Sea God.

Su Mu simply watched in silence from the sidelines. Naturally, he couldn't allow the Celestial Sovereign of Longevity to win either; the outcome would still be his death.

For him, the best possible outcome was for both Gods to suffer mutual destruction.

Having gained the upper hand, the Celestial Sovereign of Longevity steadily ground away at the Sea God's power. Two hours later, whoosh! Another beam of holy light struck the Celestial Sovereign of Longevity.

In an instant, the Sea God surged back to power and began to forcefully suppress its opponent.

Watching this unfold, Su Mu smiled silently. "Gods are nothing more than this."

He continued to micromanage the battle using the power of the Primal Angel, doing everything he could to keep the two Gods locked in a stalemate while continuously draining their Divinity.

The process would be incredibly long, but the one thing he didn't lack was patience.
