Chapter 437: Chapter 325: Besieging the Wanxiang Sect (2)
Zhao Xiaodong gritted his teeth, trying hard to keep his expression unchanged, but his tightly clenched fists still betrayed his inner turmoil.
"What, am I wrong? Hurry up and call all your Wanxiang Sect’s Golden Core cultivators back. If you all come at me together, you might stand a chance."
The expressions on everyone’s faces were clear for Gao Yucheng to see. Seeing this, he chuckled, the scorn in his eyes deepening and his tone growing even more mocking.
"Oh, right, and there’s that Yu Changsheng fellow from your Wanxiang Sect, isn’t there? I hear that kid’s fame is unrivaled. I wonder where he’s hiding now. Did one of you tip him off?"
"What a shame. He managed to defeat Yang Chengxu back then. I’d really like to see what kind of character he is."
As Gao Yucheng spoke, he wasn’t in a hurry to attack. He just occasionally launched a few Techniques, bombarding the array and making it tremble on the verge of collapse, but without shattering it outright.
In truth, how could Zhao Xiaodong not know what the enemy was thinking? They were deliberately stalling for time, wanting everyone from his side to arrive so they could wipe them all out in one fell swoop.
But once Ling Tianyi and Lin Wang arrived, their side would have three Golden Core cultivators. Where did the enemy get the confidence to contend with that?
Unless...
At this thought, Zhao Xiaodong secretly swallowed. He looked at the three people outside who sat with their eyes closed in meditation, utterly unmoved, and a guess formed in his mind.
Outside the array, a total of twelve people were laying siege. Nine of them were either attacking with all their might or shouting taunts. Aside from Gao Yucheng, they were all at the Foundation Establishment Cultivation level.
But the three people to the side just sat there quietly, watching the scene with calm, indifferent expressions. A single, occasional strike from them unleashed a power that made the painstakingly repaired array tremble on the verge of collapse once more.
Fortunately, it seemed the three of them were doing this intentionally and had no plans to break through just yet. They didn’t attack with their full strength, as if they were waiting for something. For the most part, it was Gao Yucheng who did the talking.
And it was they who truly made Zhao Xiaodong wary.
If it were only Gao Yucheng, although he was a Golden Core cultivator and a bit stronger than him, Zhao Xiaodong’s side could still put up a fight. They certainly wouldn’t be in such a passive position.
But these three by the side, with just a few swift moves, had routed his group. If they hadn’t held back, perhaps fearing his people would just be eliminated and leave, they would have already been severely injured or even killed.
Although there was no concrete proof, Zhao Xiaodong was certain that these three were definitely not from the Spirit Dragon Sect. He feared that each one of them had reached the Golden Core realm!
’In this situation, even if Lin Wang and Ling Tianyi came, what could they do...’
Zhao Xiaodong didn’t share these speculations with the other disciples, but a bitter feeling filled his heart. The others, however, could more or less sense the grim reality.
At this moment, they were nearly in despair, supported only by a sliver of hope.
"Senior Brother Zhao..."
As time trickled by, a timid voice suddenly spoke up from the crowd.
All the Wanxiang Sect disciples turned their attention to the speaker, a slender, handsome youth. Zhao Xiaodong recognized him as a disciple from his own Sword Control Peak, one of the top prospects of his generation.
Seeing everyone looking at him, the youth’s face flushed red. Beyond the bitterness on his face, a deep sense of shame was even more apparent, but he still whispered in a low voice:
"Senior Brother Zhao, I... I can’t hold on any longer. I want to go back."
"Zhang Miao, you..."
Zhao Xiaodong froze, pointing at Zhang Miao, his expression fluctuating. Seeing Zhang Miao’s ashamed face, his own face flushed red. After a long moment, he let out a long breath and waved his hand in weary resignation.
Zhang Miao pressed his lips together, bowed to everyone, and said in a low voice,
"I’m sorry." Then, he activated the Evil Qi Token in his hand. The Teleportation Power erupted, engulfing his form. After a flash of light, his figure vanished, leaving only the Evil Qi Token behind on the ground.
"So be it, so be it."
Zhao Xiaodong gave a bitter smile. After picking up Zhang Miao’s Evil Qi Token, his gaze swept over the others. They were all silent. Some lowered their heads, not daring to meet his eyes, while others had conflicted expressions, as if hesitating.
A sense of desolation washed over Zhao Xiaodong. The Celestial Slaughter Secret Realm had barely begun, yet most of the Wanxiang Sect’s main force was here. If they were all eliminated like this, they would truly become the laughingstock of the Six Sects.
Seeing that Zhao Xiaodong didn’t try to stop anyone, and with Zhang Miao having set a precedent, it wasn’t long before a few more people could no longer hold on. One after another, they cupped their fists and departed.
Zhao Xiaodong’s expression grew even more bitter. He felt a sour knot in his heart but couldn’t say a thing.
"Look at your junior brothers. They’re all planning to leave. Zhao Xiaodong, what are you even holding out for?"
"If you ask me, you should just give up and leave. Why prolong your own suffering?"
Outside the array, Gao Yucheng laughed heartily, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
Zhao Xiaodong remained unmoved. He just took a deep breath to suppress the rage in his heart, staring coldly at Gao Yucheng without a word.
"Alright, we’ll wait a little longer. If Yu Changsheng still doesn’t show up, let’s not waste any more time. Just shatter the array. There’s no need for this school of small fry to stay in the Celestial Slaughter Secret Realm any longer."
"If this drags on, something unexpected might happen."
Cheng Hong, one of the three who had been meditating with their eyes closed, finally spoke. His low voice was as grim as his person, carrying a chilling air.
Gao Yucheng started, then turned to look at the three of them. He nodded lightly, an involuntary trace of reverence appearing on his face.
"Very well, let’s not waste any more time."
The three exchanged a look, nodded, and no longer kept their eyes closed. They rose to their feet and each began performing a Finger Technique. And so, with a howl that seemed to tear through heaven and earth, violent streams of blood-red light condensed into twisted Blood Hands. An evil aura erupted as they continuously bombarded the array.
CRACK... CRACKLE...
In an instant, cracks spread across the entire surface of the array, causing it to destabilize immediately. The faces of those supporting it turned deathly pale, their auras becoming unsteady.
"PUH, PUH, PUH..."
Zhao Xiaodong’s face was ashen. He staggered and, coughing, spat out a mouthful of dark red blood.
"Mere ants. No matter how much you struggle, it’s futile."
Clearly, after waiting so long, their patience had run out. They no longer held back. With each strike that fell, the array shook violently, and so did the hearts of the people within.
"Hold on!"
Zhao Xiaodong roared, biting the tip of his tongue. His eyes were bloodshot, but his heart was filled with utter despair.
"Hmph."
Gao Yucheng snorted coldly. With a flick of his sleeve, immense power surged forth as he unleashed the full might of a Golden Core cultivator without reservation.
Cheng Hong, one of the three, sneered. His voice boomed like thunder, shaking the very air. "Since we couldn’t wait for Yu Changsheng, all I can say is that it’s your misfortune to be his sect-mates."
Without waiting to address the shock and suspicion in Zhao Xiaodong’s heart, and with no intention of explaining, Cheng Hong nodded to the two beside him. They performed a Finger Technique in unison. Blood-red light surged, condensing into a colossal Blood Arrow a hundred zhang long. Howling as it tore through the sky, it shot toward the array.
"!!!"
Zhao Xiaodong’s expression changed drastically. A sense of powerlessness washed over him, but he gritted his teeth and frantically poured his Magical Power into reinforcing the array.
"Were you... waiting for me?"
At this critical juncture, in the nick of time, a golden rainbow shot forth, transforming into a massive Golden Spear that brutally slammed into the colossal Blood Arrow.
The giant arrow shattered. As the golden light faded, Zhao Xiaodong secretly breathed a sigh of relief. His gaze sharpened as he saw Yu Changsheng standing tall in the void, and a spark of hope suddenly ignited in his heart.
At this moment, the array was broken. The morale of the Wanxiang Sect’s side had collapsed, while everyone from the Spirit Dragon Sect was arrogant and rampant, their spirits soaring.
Yu Changsheng’s figure emerged from the golden light, his expression stern. Beneath his feet, the Red Purgatory Dragon held its head high. Waves of Evil Fire flickered across its body, scorching the air and bathing it in a dark red glow, emanating terrifying fluctuations of power.
"Yu Changsheng? You finally decided to show yourself?"
Gao Yucheng’s heart trembled. He stared at Yu Changsheng with shock and uncertainty, subconsciously glancing at the other three beside him.
On the Spirit Dragon Sect’s side, besides himself, everyone else was only at the Foundation Establishment level. Gao Yucheng’s confidence came entirely from the aid of these three outsiders.
