Chapter 433: Chapter 323: Dividing the Treasures (Part 2)
"That was a hard fight. It’s finally over."
Zhang Tianwen nodded lightly. He didn’t stand on ceremony, swallowing the elixir. His condition improved significantly, and the color visibly returned to his face.
"The prodigies of the Profound Yin Sect are really something else. No wonder they’re bold enough to provoke the other two Gates and Six Sects."
"We’re more or less fine. The main thing is that we made you take such a risk again, Changsheng."
Shen Xingchen said with a wry smile. After his Status had recovered some, he looked at Yu Changsheng and pressed his lips together.
To be honest, when Blood Refiner unleashed his power just now... for a moment, he had truly despaired.
"But we’re all fine now, aren’t we? Fortune is found in danger—that’s just how it is."
Yu Changsheng forced a smile, mustering his energy to comfort them.
’Even now, thinking back on the battle’s dangers still made his heart pound with lingering fear.’
’The opponent’s Sea of Blood had been an especially terrifying threat. The only reason I was able to win was by using a constant stream of Elixirs to forcefully maintain my Status, wearing him down until his Sea of Blood finally weakened.’
The resources consumed, however, were the source of Yu Changsheng’s current anguish—a truly soul-crushing heartache.
The value of a Tier Three Elixir was immense, and he had used nearly ten of them in this single battle. This was also why Blood Refiner had been so utterly frustrated in his defeat.
"It’s finally over." Shen Xingchen exhaled, sheathing his Spirit Sword and glancing around with a faint smile. "Those Profound Yin Sect disciples are certainly a tough bunch."
"The Profound Yin Sect prodigies are formidable indeed, but we’re not ones to be trifled with."
Zhang Tianwen chuckled, looking toward Yu Changsheng. Yu Changsheng nodded. Once his physical Status had recovered significantly, he slowly rose and walked toward the Five Fingers of Chi Mei.
In a way, this was what everyone had been fighting over.
The Five Fingers of Chi Mei, perhaps because its power had been fully unleashed, no longer glowed with seven-colored light. It now appeared pitch-black, covered in intricate patterns, with only faint wisps of Black Qi and a thick Death Qi constantly rising from it.
However, no one present dared to look down on it. After all, even if it was just a few fingers, its ability to catch them all off guard and drag them into an Illusion Realm was not to be taken lightly.
Yu Changsheng remained vigilant. Only after confirming there was no danger did he slowly approach. After a moment’s thought, he gently touched the Five Fingers of Chi Mei.
An icy-cold sensation traveled up his arm, but aside from that, he felt nothing else. Who knew how many ages the Five Fingers of Chi Mei had lain here? After so long, most of it had decayed into an unrecognizable state, left to be weathered by time, which had carved its own traces upon it.
"This thing, if I’m not mistaken, is probably..."
Seeing the curious and confused gazes of the others, Yu Changsheng didn’t keep it to himself, pointing to the Five Fingers of Chi Mei and patiently explaining it to them.
The group listened in silence, their expressions shifting from initial confusion to gravity, and finally, to utter astonishment.
Nothing else needed to be said; the name Chi Mei alone was enough to signify the treasure’s immense value.
After a moment’s thought, Yu Changsheng glanced at the others, then thoughtfully took the Five Fingers of Chi Mei. With a gentle twist, the five digits separated without any issue.
Yu Changsheng didn’t stand on ceremony. After taking the largest, the middle finger, for himself, he tossed the index and ring fingers to Zhang Tianwen and Shen Xingchen. As for Li Minghan, he gave him the thumb.
The group was momentarily stunned. Zhang Tianwen and Shen Xingchen broke into smiles and accepted their shares without any pretense.
Li Minghan, on the other hand, just chuckled and scratched his head. "Ah, I feel bad about this. I didn’t do anything and just got a freebie."
"Just take it. It’s nothing."
Yu Changsheng said with a laugh, patting Li Minghan on the shoulder.
Li Minghan was only making a polite show of it, so he gleefully put the finger away and shot Yu Changsheng a grateful look.
That only left Jing Xueyi, and here, Yu Changsheng was hesitant.
’In terms of relationships, the four of us are comrades who have faced life and death together. Jing Xueyi, on the other hand, is just an outsider. She led us here, but other than that, she didn’t contribute anything.’
’If it were something else, it would be fine, but the finger of a Chi Mei is priceless. It’s not realistic to just give it away, and she probably wouldn’t dare accept it even if I offered.’
Jing Xueyi had clearly realized this as well. Setting her jaw, she bit her lip and spoke softly:
"I didn’t contribute much; in fact, all of you had to look out for me. However, this Chi Mei finger happens to be a perfect match for the path of the Melody Illusion Skill I cultivate."
"I am willing to pay an equivalent price to trade for this finger. What do you say, Young Master Yu?"
Hearing this, Yu Changsheng paused and instinctively glanced at the others. Zhang Tianwen and the rest simply shrugged and waved a hand. "I have no objections. You decide."
So Yu Changsheng thought for a moment, looked at the last remaining pinky finger, and nodded. "Very well. Then this last one is yours."
It was no great loss to give Jing Xueyi one of the five fingers. Yu Changsheng hadn’t intended to leave her with nothing; he just couldn’t give it to her for free. He was simply waiting for her to state her intentions.
Now that Jing Xueyi had spoken up, Yu Changsheng was not one to be stingy. As good as the treasure was, he had already gotten the largest piece, the middle finger, and that was enough for him.
As he spoke, Yu Changsheng handed the last finger, the pinky, to Jing Xueyi. A pleased expression appeared on her face, but she didn’t take it immediately. Instead, she cupped her fist in a salute to Yu Changsheng and said gratefully, "Thank you, Young Master Yu. If you ever need anything in the future, please don’t hesitate to find me."
With that, Jing Xueyi began pulling a large assortment of items from her Storage Pouch, including Spirit Stones, Elixirs, Magical Treasures, and even some Cultivation Technique Secret Manuals.
The Spirit Stones alone amounted to a million, which surprised Yu Changsheng slightly, though his expression remained unchanged. After casually picking out a few items, he passed the rest to Zhang Tianwen and the others.
The group nodded, naturally having no objections. For them, one finger was plenty. Whether they used it as a material to refine a Magical Treasure or for something else, the object’s usefulness was beyond doubt.
Seeing this, Jing Xueyi gently exhaled, suppressing the excitement in her heart as she carefully accepted the Chi Mei’s finger, a brilliant glint flashing in her eyes.
For her, she had just traded away nearly her entire net worth for this single finger, but Jing Xueyi felt it was well worth the price. This item was the kind that had a price but no market—impossibly rare—and it would be immensely beneficial to her Cultivation.
Yu Changsheng didn’t dwell on it any longer. Shaking his head, he glanced around at the devastated battlefield, collected the Storage Pouches from the dead, and led the group out of the chasm.
As for the Evil Qi Points on his Evil Qi Token, Yu Changsheng merely glanced at them, taking stock of the number in his mind.
On the way, everyone from Yu Changsheng to Zhang Tianwen and the others was exhausted. Although the Elixirs had replenished their spent energy, their mental fatigue was not so easy to recover from.
Thus, Yu Changsheng was in no hurry. He led the group to a secluded spot, carved out a simple cave, and after estimating the time, said to the others:
"Let’s rest here for a day. There’s no rush. We’ll handle things as they come."
"Alright."
The group nodded in agreement. Their expressions visibly relaxed as each found a spot to sit and meditate.
Yu Changsheng glanced at the others but didn’t pay them much mind. He turned and walked deeper into the cave. After casually setting up a few protective Arrays, he took a deep breath, sat cross-legged, and closed his eyes. As he focused on the Chi Mei finger within his system’s inventory, a light flashed in his eyes, his expression becoming thoughtful.
’The so-called Chi Mei is actually a type of Odd Demon, which is just another name for an extremely powerful Spirit Beast.’
Yu Changsheng mused, his eyes glinting.
’If it’s a Spirit Beast, then this might just work... The Chi Mei, an Ancient Odd Demon with Heaven-Reaching power, a master of the Illusion Skill, a silent killer... often a harbinger of chaos and misfortune...’
After this information surfaced in his mind, Yu Changsheng closed his eyes to rest and recover his Status. And so, half a day passed. Yu Changsheng’s eyes opened once more. He exhaled a long, white breath of Chi Lian, and with a wave of his sleeve, the Profound Turtle and the Red Purgatory Dragon appeared beside him.
