Chapter 359: Chapter 287: Sword’s Radiance Shocks the Sky (Part 2)
"Hidden Kill, Shadow Blade."
Just as Wang Dingsheng breathed a sigh of relief, the shadow behind him began to twist. A cold, ghostly voice emerged as the shadow writhed, and in an instant, Wen Zai’fu’s figure materialized from within. He gripped a pitch-black dagger, slashing it across Wang Dingsheng’s neck.
"!!!"
Wang Dingsheng’s expression changed drastically, his scalp tingling in that instant. His aura was locked, and a strange power seemed to root his feet to the ground. With immense difficulty, Wang Dingsheng managed to turn his head, the look of terror not yet faded from his face.
The next instant...
SWOOSH— The world seemed to dim as the air grew heavy. A line of blood spurted out. From a bizarre angle, Wang Dingsheng’s vision spun as his head separated from his body... before falling to the ground with a wet THUD.
"Wang Dingsheng!!"
Zhang Tianwen cried out, his eyes instantly turning bloodshot. A look of anguish washed over his face as he rushed forward. He stared at Wang Dingsheng’s decapitated corpse, gritting his teeth as his chest heaved violently.
"What?!!"
The others’ expressions changed drastically. It had all happened so fast that no one had time to react.
By the time they came to their senses, Wang Dingsheng had already fallen.
"I’ll kill you all!!"
Zhang Tianwen’s eyes were bloodshot. In that moment, he went berserk, his aura erupting from his body. The Divine Might Spirit Tiger and the Thunder-controlling Spirit Tiger seemed to feel their master’s rage and roared in unison.
"RUMBLE!!"
Muffled thunder cracked across the sky as the heavy rain grew even more torrential. Amidst the gloomy cold, a thunderbolt flashed, momentarily illuminating the surroundings and revealing Zhang Tianwen’s face, which was twisted in extreme rage.
"Ling Lei, Yu Tian!"
"Purple Thunder, Thunderbolt, Geng Metal Sword!"
The two tigers roared, coordinating with Zhang Tianwen’s Thunder Skill. The space was instantly filled with a dense barrage of swords condensed from thunderbolts. They slashed through the sky, surrounded Wen Zai’fu, and exploded in a flash.
Shen Xingchen also set his jaw, swinging his sword with all his might and thrusting it toward Wen Zai’fu.
Wen Zai’fu smirked triumphantly, his eyes filled with mockery. He formed a hand seal and pointed to the ground. Just as his body was about to merge back into the shadows, Yu Changsheng suddenly whipped his head around and glared at him.
"Divine Soul Pierce!"
His Divine Soul Power condensed into a long, slender black needle. It instantly pierced Wen Zai’fu’s Spiritual Soul Protection and churned his Sea of Consciousness. A searing pain shot through Wen Zai’fu’s mind, causing his movements to falter.
A Divine Soul Attack might not have been particularly effective against true Golden Core Cultivators like Chen Buhuo and Juelingzi, but for Wen Zai’fu, who was still in the Fake Pill Realm, it was fatal.
In that single moment of hesitation, Zhang Tianwen’s and Shen Xingchen’s attacks descended.
The whites of Wen Zai’fu’s eyes showed as the violent thunderbolt and brilliant Sword Light pierced through him. An expression of disbelief remained frozen on his face. After one last, difficult glance downward, he met the same fate as Wang Dingsheng.
"What?!"
Chen Buhuo and Juelingzi were furious.
But Zhang Tianwen’s fury was not so easily appeased. He instantly turned, about to charge the other two.
"Senior Brother Zhang, calm down,"
Yu Changsheng said, taking a deep breath. His gaze was ice-cold, but he remained rational. He grabbed Zhang Tianwen’s sleeve, a faint sense of crisis rising in his heart.
He began circulating the Ten Thousand Spirits Technique, his Divine Sense clinging to the mountain forest and spreading far into the distance. After a moment of sensing, his brows furrowed, the light in his eyes dimmed, and his expression turned grim.
"We need to leave, now. There’s another Golden Core Cultivator coming from the east, and their aura is even stronger than these two. When they arrive, the situation will become even more critical."
With knitted brows, Yu Changsheng relayed this to the others via voice transmission. Then, with a wave of his arms, he retrieved Wang Dingsheng’s corpse and the Storage Pouch Wen Zai’fu had left behind. The Red Purgatory and the Red Mountain Spirit Dragon flew to his side, warily watching the other two.
At these words, Zhang Tianwen regained some of his senses. He looked at his companions, took a deep breath to suppress his grief, and nodded lightly.
The situation changed in an instant. Neither Chen Buhuo nor Juelingzi made a reckless move. Though they had killed Wang Dingsheng, their side had lost Wen Zai’fu in the counterattack.
With both sides now hesitant, the atmosphere suddenly fell into a tense silence, broken only by the sound of the endless rain pattering down.
"Jin Feng’s Tiger Painting!"
"Ten Thousand Thunder Celestial Prison Guide!"
"Red Refining Sealing Void!"
"Red Fire Divine Mountain!"
...
Suddenly, Yu Changsheng and his group moved. Within their combined Domain, it was as if the sky were falling and the earth were splitting open. The world suddenly went dark as a terrifying might erupted. All kinds of Divine Techniques were unleashed at once, surging toward Chen Buhuo and Juelingzi.
"Let’s go!"
Sensing the approaching Golden Core Cultivator getting closer, Yu Changsheng took a deep breath and spoke to Zhang Tianwen in a grave tone.
Zhang Tianwen nodded. His expression showed a moment of internal struggle, but he understood the priorities. Two Golden Core Cultivators had already pushed them to their limits. Although they hadn’t been defeated yet, they were clearly outmatched.
If another, even more terrifying Golden Core Cultivator were to arrive, their chances of survival would be slim. He lowered his gaze, took a Jade Tube from his waist, and whispered amidst the chaos:
"Hold hands, don’t separate!"
Shen Xingchen withdrew his sword, while Yu Changsheng and Li Minghan recalled their Spirit Beasts. The next moment, Zhang Tianwen no longer hesitated. He clenched his fist, crushing the Jade Tube in his hand.
Instantly, ripples of spatial energy spread out, enveloping the four of them.
"Damn it, they’re trying to escape! Stop them!"
Chen Buhuo and Juelingzi were instantly on alert. Willing to risk injury, they broke through the barrage of attacks from the Spirit Beasts, only for the entire Domain to suddenly collapse and detonate violently.
RUMBLE!
Volcanoes erupted, lava boiled, and the world was plunged into darkness, blocking the two pursuers.
Though it only held them back for an instant, it was enough. A white light flashed, the spatial fluctuations reached their peak, and in the next second, the four figures vanished without a trace.
’Damn... They got away, and Wen Zai’fu died in the process...’
Juelingzi and Chen Buhuo emerged from the chaos, instantly arriving at the spot where Yu Changsheng’s group had vanished. They grasped at the fading afterimages, their faces grim.
"Those kids are a real handful. I thought victory was assured, but we underestimated them."
Juelingzi muttered as well, his expression dark.
"A bunch of useless trash. You couldn’t even stop them."
Just as the two were wallowing in regret, a streak of light shot down from the distance, revealing a middle-aged, purple-robed cultivator who landed before them.
"My Lord!"
Chen Buhuo and Juelingzi’s expressions were a mixture of reverence and shame. They bowed their heads in unison, paying their respects to the middle-aged cultivator.
"Hmph!"
The middle-aged cultivator snorted, glaring at them with cold eyes. His purple robes remained pristine despite the downpour, and a vicious scar on his face stood out. He squinted at them and said in a frigid voice:
"Three Golden Core Cultivators to kill a few Foundation Establishment brats, and you still managed to get one of you killed and let them escape. It seems the two of you are becoming more and more useless."
"Perhaps your Tributor stipend is too generous. You’ve forgotten what you’re actually capable of."
Hearing this, Chen Buhuo and Juelingzi lowered their heads even further, answering cautiously in low voices, "We had already set up the Array of Ultimate Destruction, waiting for them to fall into the trap. The plan was to wipe them out in one fell swoop. It should have been foolproof."
"But who knew those brats would be so vigilant? Plus, their tamed beasts were all extraordinary and caused us significant interference. That’s why we couldn’t capture them immediately. We ask for our Lord’s punishment."
"Enough." The Purple-robed Cultivator waved his sleeve. After another cold glance at them, he extended a finger and pointed to the spot where Yu Changsheng’s group had vanished. His gaze hardened as he spoke in a frigid tone:
"A Chaotic Teleportation Talisman... They can’t have gone far. A thousand-li radius at most. They must still be somewhere in Huishui Mountain. Follow their lingering aura. Leave no stone unturned, and find them."
"Yes."
Chen Buhuo and Juelingzi nodded in assent. They each cast their own Magic, flying off to begin searching the area layer by layer.
’A group of Foundation Establishment brats with so many tricks up their sleeves... If you don’t die, I won’t be able to answer for this...’
The Purple-robed Cultivator closed his eyes, grabbing a handful of muddy earth and muttering to himself.
