I Summon Female Knights

Chapter 39: Impurities and Lunch

Raphael stared at Vanessa, the lingering echoes of the manual’s profound spiritual alignment still humming in his veins. Three days. He had been so deeply submerged in the spatial equations and soul-bound geometry of the Greatsword and Battle Axe that seventy-two hours had slipped past like a single, seamless breath.

"A week..." Raphael murmured, his deep baritone settling into a calm, pragmatic register. His luminous silver eyes narrowed slightly as he adjusted his internal timeline. "That gives me more than enough leeway to master the physical stances before I step into the Depths."

Dismissing the dimensional anchor, Raphael allowed the violet mana of the sanctuary to pull his physical form back across the threshold.

The moment his boots touched the floorboards of his Jiston apartment, an appalling, rancid stench hit his nostrils. It was an overwhelming odor- a foul mix of copper, sulfur, and stagnant rot that filled the small room.

Raphael looked down at his arms and chest, pausing in disgust. A thick, pitch-black sludge had seeped out of his skin, coating his entire frame in a greasy, calcified crust. The dark grey tracksuit he wore was thoroughly ruined, stiff and blackened by the viscous substance.

[BODY CLEANSING PROTOCOL COMPLETED!]

- Cause: Tier 1 Mind, Body, and Soul Alignment.

- Effect: The integration of the Sovereign’s dual-weapon pathways forced a total purification of your biological vessel, expelling latent cellular impurities, residual toxins, and dead marrow.

- Result: Enhanced bone density, pristine muscular fiber composition, and uninhibited mana circulation pathways.

A low exhale escaped his lips. "Impurities..."

Without wasting another second, Raphael peeled off the ruined clothes, tossing them directly into the trash bin, and stepped into the small washroom. He turned the shower handle to cold, letting the freezing water cascade down his broad shoulders.

As he scrubbed the black sludge off his skin, he watched it dissolve into the drain, revealing the physical results beneath. His skin was smooth, immaculate, and pale, yet taut over dense, perfectly sculpted muscle. The purplish bruises left behind by his earlier sparring sessions with Elena were completely gone, replaced by pristine, unblemished flesh that hummed with quiet, suppressed power.

Twenty minutes later, Raphael stepped out of the washroom, drying his dark hair with a towel.

His stomach let out a deep, audible rumble. The intense physical and spiritual purification had drained his body’s caloric reserves to absolute zero. He was starving.

"First, food," Raphael muttered, looking at his small duffel bag. "Then, supplies."

He pulled on his remaining set of clothes: a simple fitted black shirt and dark jeans. Before stepping out into the hallway, he grabbed his phone and checked the news. There were no public alerts, no broadcast of missing person reports, and no open warrants bearing his name or image.

The Bureau was keeping his escape entirely buried, terrified of the public fallout and political nightmare that a classified "Unknown" asset going rogue would bring down on Captain Vale’s head.

Even so, Raphael wasn’t foolish enough to walk around the lower districts bare-faced at six-foot-five with glowing silver eyes.

He slipped out of the apartment complex, keeping his stride long and unhurried as he navigated the crowded, neon-lit morning streets of Jiston. He bypassed the main commercial avenues, heading straight toward a quiet clothing stall tucked between two cramped electronic repair shops.

For twenty credits, he purchased a heavy, oversized black tactical hoodie with a deep, shadow-casting hood. Slinking the hood over his head, the dark fabric threw his carved jawline and silver eyes into complete shadow, effectively concealing his striking features from passing eyes and low-grade street surveillance cameras.

With his face hidden, Raphael walked into a local diner catering to mercenary contractors and off-duty guards. He ordered three massive plates of seared beef, rice, and eggs, downing the food with swift, ravenous efficiency. The raw nutrients were instantly absorbed by his cleansed stomach, restoring his baseline physical vitality.

After finishing his meal, he crossed the street to a wholesale provisions market. He spent another eighty credits stocking up on dense, high-calorie ration bars, purified water bladders, basic medical gauze, and a sturdy tactical belt with reinforced holsters. He packed everything tightly into his duffel bag, ensuring he had enough food to sustain himself for a week of isolated, intense training without needing to step back into the city streets.

Tallying his remaining funds on his phone, Raphael observed his digital balance settle at exactly one hundred and fifty-two credits.

’A tight margin,’ Raphael thought, closing his wallet app. ’Emergency funds. Once the D-Tier dungeon is cleared and the domain expands, credit currency will become irrelevant anyway. Right, system?’

[Very true. But it would take time. Don’t be excited yet.]

With his errands complete, he slung his packed duffel over his shoulder and made his way back through the winding alleys of Jiston, slipping up the creaky apartment stairs and locking the reinforced door behind him.

He dropped the bag by the desk, drew the thick window blinds to block out the afternoon sun, and stood in the center of the quiet room.

The time for preparation, planning, and rest was over. His mind was aligned, his vessel was purified, and his reserves were full.

Raphael took a deep, steadying breath. He closed his eyes, drawing upon the cold, radiant thread anchored to his heart, and willed his spirit back into the void.

Space folded silently around him, swallowing his towering frame into the dark twilight of the sanctuary.

The vast, black-glass floor of the Throne Room stretched into the darkness, the sleek obsidian throne pulsing with a soft, silver-violet light atop the marble dais.

Vanessa materialized instantly beside the stairs, her dark robes floating weightlessly as she bowed her head in quiet greeting. "Welcome back, Sovereign."

Raphael stepped onto the smooth glass floor, pulling off his black hoodie and tossing it aside. His broad shoulders squared, his six-foot-five frame standing tall under the ambient light of the hall as he settled into a wide, central stance.

"No more delays, Vanessa," Raphael said, his deep, resonant baritone echoing through the cavernous arches. "Initialize Tier Two."

Before her lips could form a response, a brilliant cascade of translucent violet system text flared to life directly before his silver eyes, pulsing with absolute, ready power.

[DUAL-WEAPON MASTERY MANUAL: TIER 2 COMMENCING!]

- Module: Foundational Stance & Weight Redistribution

- Objective: Master the physical mechanics of simultaneously holding a Greatsword’s center of mass in your lead hand while anchoring a Battle Axe’s rotational leverage in your off-hand.

Physical Execution Phase: ACTIVE.

Raphael opened his hands, his silver eyes flashing with cold, unyielding resolve as the physical trial began.
