I Summon Female Knights

Chapter 37: The Iron Spire of the Sky-Shattered Vault

The shadow-crow soared above the concrete sprawl, an invisible speck gliding through the gray overcast sky.

In the Jiston apartment, Raphael sat motionless on the edge of his bed, his eyes closed. His consciousness was anchored to the familiar’s burning silver vision. Below, the urban landscape blurred past- sprawling residential blocks, rusted industrial plants, and crowded highways- until the crow veered seventy kilometers northeast into the adjacent district of Hiwo.

Hiwo was a quiet, overgrown industrial fringe, dotted with abandoned textile mills, decaying warehouses, and quiet neighborhoods forgotten by city developers. To human eyes or standard Bureau mana radar, the area appeared utterly vacant, shrouded in dull gray quiet.

To the Umbral Corvid, however, the sky above a derelict subway maintenance depot in eastern Hiwo was bleeding.

A jagged, crimson tear floated five feet above the cracked asphalt inside an abandoned train shed. Corrupted mana spilled from the rift like dark, viscous tar, pooling silently into the concrete floor before vanishing into the subterranean tunnels below.

The moment the crow’s silver gaze locked onto the distortion, a cold shockwave rippled through Raphael’s mental link, accompanied by a sudden cascade of glowing violet system text.

[UNREGISTERED RIFT DETECTED!]

[Location: Hiwo District, Sector 9 (Subterranean Depot)]

[Distance: 71.4 km from Current Location]

[Classification: D-Tier Unstable Gate]

[Dungeon Name: The Shadow-Veined Depths]

[Primary Threat Type: Void-Type Entities (Specific classifications, forms, and behavioral metrics currently unknown)]

[Incursion Status: Active / Festering (Estimated 72 Hours until Full Dimensional Collapse)]

Raphael opened his eyes, the luminous silver in his irises glowing brightly in the dim bedroom.

"Void monsters," Raphael murmured, his deep baritone breaking the silence. "The Bureau hasn’t flagged it. The tear is concealed beneath the concrete foundation of an abandoned transit shed."

Vanessa, standing near the window, inclined her head. "Void entities are born from the empty expanse between worlds, Sovereign. They possess no flesh, no organs, and no fixed physical form. They feed upon ambient mana, kinetic impact, and vital essence. Standard mortal weapons and basic elemental strikes often pass straight through them, inflicting zero damage."

"Which means brute physical force alone won’t kill them," Raphael said, standing up from the mattress. "If my strikes don’t carry dense, compressed mana, I’ll just be punching empty air."

He looked down at his hands, watching the micro-thin layer of the Sovereign’s Veil cling tightly to his knuckles. He had seventy-two hours before the rift expanded or attracted unwanted attention, but he had zero intention of waiting. He needed to be ready before his boots ever touched the concrete of Hiwo.

"We train," Raphael declared softly. "Now."

With a thought, the fabric of space around him warped. A silent vortex of dark violet light swallowed both Raphael and Vanessa, pulling them out of the physical room and depositing them directly into the heart of the Throne Room.

The vast, black-glass expanse of the sanctuary welcomed him with a low, resonant thrum. High above, the sleek, newly evolved obsidian throne stood atop the marble stairs, its fluid silver runes pulsing with rhythmic power.

Raphael shed his duffel bag, stepping into the center of the dark floor. The cold air of the hall pressed against his skin, but his internal core burned with pure, unrefined authority.

"You brought us here to refine your strike," Vanessa said, floating gracefully beside him as her dark relic-staff hovered at her shoulder. "Void beasts cannot be broken by bone-crushing mass. To slay a creature made of dark space, your mana must act as a razor; dense enough to sever their tether to the void."

"Show me," Raphael said, settling into a low, perfectly balanced guard.

Vanessa raised her slender hand, her pale fingers tracing an arc in the air. "I shall simulate the density of a Void Entity. Do not hold back, Sovereign."

From the shadows of the high obsidian pillars, three swirling masses of dense, pitch-black mist detached themselves and drifted forward. They had no clear limbs or faces, just shifting, amorphous clouds of kinetic-absorbing darkness that hovered two feet off the glass floor.

Raphael pushed off his back foot. Guided by his godlike neural processing speed, he blurred across the floor, appearing in front of the first shadow mass in less than a heartbeat. He drew his right fist back, coating his knuckles in the Sovereign’s Veil, and drove a straight punch into the center of the entity.

His fist passed clean through the shadow mass as if striking thick smoke. The kinetic force of his blow blew a hole through the mist, but the entity instantly reformed, its dark tendrils lashing out to wrap around his right forearm like freezing iron chains.

The cold hit his skin hard, trying to siphon his internal energy.

"Immune to simple impact," Raphael noted smoothly, showing not a single trace of panic.

He didn’t pull back. Instead, he reached deep into his core, drawing upon the pure, refined mana surging through his soul. He didn’t just coat his skin in a layer of light; he compressed the mana, forcing it to vibrate at an extreme frequency across his palm.

"Compress and sever," Raphael commanded himself.

He opened his right hand inside the entity’s core and snapped his fingers into a tight, knife-hand strike.

SHRRRRIEK!

A sharp blade of concentrated violet light erupted from his fingertips. The compressed mana severed the entity’s central core like a hot scalpel cutting through silk. The shadow mass let out an eerie, silent screech as its form unravelled, collapsing into harmless black dust that dissolved into the floor.

[TECHNIQUE DISCOVERY / REFINEMENT]

[Ability Evolved: Sovereign’s Edge (Veil Compression: Piercing Type)]

[Effect: Concentrates micro-thin mana into a high-frequency cutting edge capable of severing non-physical and intangible constructs.]

Raphael didn’t wait for the system notification to clear.

The second and third shadow masses lunged at him simultaneously, lashing out with whipped tendrils from both sides.

Raphael didn’t retreat a single inch. Guided by the footwork Elena had drilled into his muscles and the superhuman processing speed granted by his total system compatibility, he pivoted on his left heel. He ducked beneath the first tendril, brought his hands up, and executed a rapid, fluid combination of two-handed palm strikes.

SLASH! SLASH!

Twin arcs of silvery-violet mana cut through the darkness, cleanly bisecting both shadow entities in mid-air. They disintegrated before their feet could even touch the floorboards.

Raphael stood in the center of the vast hall, his breathing light, his lungs completely steady. The micro-thin layer of violet light wrapped around his forearms and fingers was denser, brighter, and far sharper than it had ever been before.

Vanessa floated down from the air, her cold violet eyes shining with deep, undeniable satisfaction as she looked at her master.

"Your adaptation is terrifying, Sovereign," Vanessa whispered, offering a low, graceful bow. "The Void of Hiwo will not find a prey entering its depths. It will find its conqueror."

Raphael looked down at his glowing, mana-sheathed hands, his dark silver eyes burning with a cold, absolute resolve.

"Seventy kilometers," Raphael said, his deep baritone echoing off the massive obsidian pillars of his sanctuary. "Let’s go claim our dungeon. But first, I will train more in the coming week."
