I Summon Female Knights
Chapter 34: Comprehension? You can never Comprehend what I Am
The narrow residential corridor shattered into absolute chaos.
"Fire!" Captain Vale roared, his voice cutting through the blare of the alarm klaxons.
A barrage of pressurized mana projectiles and condensed elemental bolts erupted from the frontline of tactical rifles, tearing through the air in a blinding display of crimson and blue energy. The tight space turned into a kill zone designed to incapacitate or obliterate high-tier threats instantly.
Raphael didn’t even flinch. He didn’t raise his hands, nor did he shift his feet.
"Vanessa. Clear the trash," he commanded silently through their mental tether.
Behind him, the dark Saintess stepped forward, her pale features illuminated by a cruel, radiant joy. She raised her relic-staff and drove its base hard into the carpeted floor.
BOOM!
A dome of absolute obsidian darkness exploded outward from her form, expanding like a localized shockwave. The incoming storm of mana fire struck the black boundary and dissolved into nothingness, swallowed entirely by the domain’s hungry shadows. Before the operatives could adjust their aim or chamber another round, the dark dome collapsed inward and detonated into dozens of razor-sharp violet tendrils that whipped through the corridor with terrifying velocity.
Weapon barrels were severed in clean, silent slices. Heavy tactical shields shattered like brittle glass. The tendrils lashed out with surgical precision, slamming into the chest plates and helmets of the armored guards, flinging all two dozen operatives backward like ragdolls. They crashed heavily against the walls and ceiling before thudding to the floor in a dazed, groaning pile, their weapons ruined and their mana reserves temporarily paralyzed by Vanessa’s dark suppression.
Within three seconds, the hallway was cleared of everyone except one man.
Captain Vale lunged through the settling dust, his boots cracking the floorboards. As a high-ranking B-Tier officer with decades of elite tactical experience, his combat instincts were immaculate. Golden mana reinforced his frame, granting him the physical force of a runaway locomotive. He discarded his useless sidearm, drawing a high-frequency tactical combat blade that hummed with concentrated, armor-cleaving energy.
Vale aimed a brutal, diagonal slash directly at Raphael’s neck- a strike designed to end the fight before the anomaly could react.
Raphael didn’t draw a weapon. He didn’t have one to begin with.
With his compatibility with the system exceeding one hundred percent, his neural processing power had reached a level far beyond human limits. To Raphael’s luminous silver eyes, Captain Vale’s swift, lethal strike moved with the agonizing slowness of an object drifting through thick syrup. He could see the microscopic muscle twitches in Vale’s shoulders, the exact trajectory of the golden mana coating the blade, and the subtle shift in the man’s center of gravity three steps before the foot hit the carpet.
Raphael casually tilted his head back half an inch.
The golden blade whistled harmlessly through the empty air where his throat had been a millisecond prior, cutting only a few stray threads from his dark grey tracksuit.
Vale’s eyes widened in sheer disbelief. He immediately pivoted, sweeping his trailing foot in a brutal leg kick aimed at taking Raphael’s knee out while spinning his blade into a reverse-grip stab toward Raphael’s ribs. It was a fluid, deadly combination honed over hundreds of life-or-death encounters.
Raphael only shifted his weight. The Sovereign’s Veil flared faintly beneath his skin, a micro-thin layer of compressed violet mana wrapped tightly around his muscle fibers. Guided by his godlike processing speed, Raphael brought his right palm down, catching the back of Vale’s spinning blade with his bare hand.
CLANG!
The high-frequency energy edge slammed into Raphael’s mana-coated palm and stopped dead. The kinetic impact didn’t even force his fingers back.
Before Vale could pull his weapon free, Raphael closed his grip, crushing the reinforced, military-grade steel alloy in his bare fist until it crumpled into useless scrap metal.
"What..." Vale gasped, his breath catching in his throat as the raw shock finally broke through his hardened combat composure.
Without giving the captain time to retreat, Raphael stepped smoothly into Vale’s guard. His movement was utterly silent, a terrifying execution of spatial dominance. He drove his left palm directly into Vale’s heavy chest plate.
The strike looked soft, almost lazy, but the compressed mana riding his skin detonated upon contact.
BOOM!
The reinforced metal chest armor buckled inward with a sickening crunch. Vale was launched backward down the length of the corridor, his boots skipping off the carpet as he skidded nearly thirty feet before crashing heavily against the far elevator doors.
Vale collapsed onto his hands and knees, coughing violently as he clutched his broken chest plate. Blood dripped from the corner of his lip onto the floorboards. His golden mana reinforcement was shattered, flickering weakly before fading entirely. He raised his head, his face pale, sweat pouring down his forehead as he stared at the six-foot-five figure walking toward him with slow, deliberate, and terrifying grace.
Every tactical calculation Vale had ever learned was screaming that this was impossible. A civilian who had been evaluated as a baseline human just a few days ago was moving faster than A-Tier speedsters and striking harder than heavy-class tanks- all without using a weapon, a spell chant, or visible mana casting.
"Why..." Vale wheezed, his voice trembling with a mixture of agony, frustration, and deep, primal horror as he leaned his back against the dented elevator doors. "Why can’t I... comprehend you?! What kind of monster are you?!"
Raphael stopped five feet away, looking down at the broken captain. His dark duffel bag rested easily over his shoulder, and his luminous silver eyes burned with a cold, unyielding authority that seemed to swallow the dim light of the hallway.
In his mind, Raphael issued a quiet, effortless command to the dark Saintess floating behind him.
’Vanessa. Press them down.’
Vanessa smiled darkly. She raised her relic-staff, and a suffocating, ancient mana pressure slammed down onto the corridor like a falling mountain. The groaning operatives on the floor were instantly pinned flat against the carpet, unable to lift a finger or draw a breath as the cold, domain-level aura crushed their very spirits into total submission. Even Vale felt his spine bend under the absolute weight of her presence, forcing his forehead to touch the floorboards.
Raphael looked down at Vale’s trembling frame, a faint, icy smile touching his lips.
"Comprehension?" Raphael said, his deep, baritone voice echoing through the silent, crushed hallway like thunder over a desolate field. "You can never comprehend what I am."
He turned his back on the broken captain and the paralyzed guards, stepping past the dented doors into the stairwell exit. Vanessa melted into the shadows at his heels, her dark robes vanishing into the void.
Raphael descended the stairs, leaving behind the Bureau, his civilian past, and the foolish illusion that he was ever meant to be held in a cage.
