Chapter 691: Chapter 423: A Costly Mistake

SNAP.

Dizzy and disoriented, Lin Li fought stubbornly against the effects of the poison as he raised his right hand and snapped his fingers.

An orange-red light ignited the instant he snapped his fingers. Then, a small, fingernail-sized flame flew out and rapidly expanded in the air.

WHOOSH.

The small flame, seemingly growing with the wind, floated in midair and transformed into a gigantic Fireball seven meters in diameter.

"Holy shit!!!"

The smiles on Wu Xiong and Purple Claw’s faces, once full of smug satisfaction, vanished instantly as they stared at the massive Fireball suspended in the air.

Although they were already well aware of how formidable the masked assailant was, they never expected this.

Even after being hit with the special poison and with his physical condition steadily deteriorating, he could still spare the focus to use his abilities and create such a shockingly powerful, gigantic Fireball.

Creating a Fireball seven meters in diameter was not the limit of Lin Li’s current cultivation level.

If he hadn’t been poisoned by Purple Claw’s special concoction, and if he were to use his full power without regard for Spiritual Energy consumption, creating a Fireball over ten meters in diameter would not have been difficult.

"Go..."

Lin Li looked at his two terrified enemies, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. With a thought, he sent the Fireball shooting forward.

WHOOSH...

Seeing the enormous Fireball hurtling toward them and clearly perceiving the terrifying power contained within, Wu Xiong and Purple Claw were scared out of their wits. They scrambled to flee in opposite directions.

"You just wait. I’ll be back. Next time—next time, I absolutely won’t give you an opportunity like this again," Lin Li said coolly, watching Wu Xiong and Purple Claw flee in a panic.

As for Wu Xiong and Purple Claw, who were currently facing the threat of the massive Fireball, they heard Lin Li’s words but were in no state of mind to reply.

The Fireball hit the ground and, in the instant of impact, exploded violently.

BOOM.

With a deafening roar, a torrent of searing flames surged across the docks, devouring everything flammable in its path.

Accompanied by the earth-shattering explosion, thick black smoke billowed into the air, soaring straight toward the sky.

From across the blazing inferno, the Guards on patrol felt the terrifying explosion on the docks at close range and were all badly startled.

"Fall back! Fall back, now!" For safety reasons, the Guard Captain immediately ordered his subordinates to retreat.

When the fire and smoke finally dissipated, a massive, scorched-black crater was revealed on the devastated docks.

HUFF...

Wu Xiong, gasping for breath, clutched the heavily injured and unconscious Zhang Di with his right hand. He stared at the scorched crater created by the masked assailant’s Fireball, a wave of fear washing over him.

"That... He was hit by my special poison, yet he could still unleash such a terrifying attack!!!" Standing beside Wu Xiong, Purple Claw stared blankly at the scene of the explosion, his voice laced with lingering fear.

"He’s gone." Wu Xiong scanned his surroundings and extended his Spiritual Perception to search the area, but he found no trace of the masked assailant.

"..." Purple Claw remained silent, his mind replaying the words the masked assailant had spoken just moments before.

’This is going to be a problem,’ Wu Xiong thought, his head already starting to ache at the prospect of the masked assailant coming after them in the future.

But Purple Claw, who was from the Blood Killing Sect, didn’t share his worries.

After all, he was only here to assist. After this encounter, he wanted nothing more to do with anything involving the masked assailant.

"Let’s go! This commotion was so big it’s already drawn the Guards’ attention. If we wait any longer, we might not be able to get away."

"Right." Wu Xiong nodded, hoisted his heavily injured, unconscious companion onto his shoulder, and prepared to leave the scene with Purple Claw.

But just as they were about to leave, their bodies suddenly stiffened, and they froze in place.

...
