Chapter 687: Chapter 422: The ’Fisherman’ Hiding in the Shadows
In terms of individual combat strength, neither Wu Xiong nor Zhang Di was a match for Lin Li.
The tremendous force from the impact of their fists shot up his arm and through his body.
The massive rebound force sent Zhang Di stumbling backward. Unaffected, Lin Li pressed his advantage, his fists glowing with a faint golden Spiritual Light as he rained a barrage of punches down on Zhang Di.
With his stamina and Spiritual Energy more than halfway depleted, Zhang Di was completely overwhelmed by Lin Li’s torrential assault.
He struggled to defend against Lin Li’s offensive, but more and more fists found their mark on his body.
CRACK.
After landing over a hundred blows, Lin Li abruptly stopped his assault. He twisted at the waist, spun around, and lashed out with his right leg with lightning speed, striking Zhang Di squarely in the side and sending him flying.
WHOOSH... BANG.
As if he’d been hit by a fully loaded truck, Zhang Di was launched into the air by the immense force of the kick. While airborne, he violently spat out a mouthful of blood.
Then, he crashed into a pile of cargo on the docks that had yet to be moved to the warehouse.
"Zhang Di!!!" Wu Xiong cried out in alarm, seeing his partner take an even more severe blow than he had.
"Dammit, that hurts like hell," Zhang Di cursed as he climbed out of the pile of goods. He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, pressing a hand to the spot where he’d been kicked and sucking in sharp breaths of cold air, his face contorted in pain.
"Don’t let him separate us!!!" Wu Xiong shouted as he ran toward Zhang Di to regroup.
"Right." After that exchange, Zhang Di knew this masked assailant was incredibly powerful. He stood no chance in a one-on-one fight; he had to coordinate more closely with his partner.
"Hah..."
A winded roar echoed across the devastated docks. Ferocious fists flew, and the sounds of intense combat erupted once more.
Raging flames, a cyan Wind Shield, and jet-black chains—the three Superpowers were unleashed one after another.
WHOOSH.
A massive Fireball landed on a large cargo ship moored at the docks, blasting it to pieces and sending it, along with its yet-unloaded cargo, sinking to the bottom of the water.
"This guy is destroying the ships on purpose..." Zhang Di spat a bloody wad onto the ground. Seeing Lin Li hurl a Fireball at a second ship, he instantly understood the man’s intentions.
"..." Wu Xiong remained silent, merely watching the terrifying enemy’s actions.
There was nothing they could do. The man was destroying the ships right in front of them, and they were utterly powerless to stop him.
There were ten cargo ships docked at the pier. In an instant, Lin Li had used Fireballs to blast them all, sending every last one to the bottom of the water.
Cargo ships paid the dock’s management a certain fee for moorage.
If a ship sustained significant damage while docked, the management was required to pay the ship’s owner an enormous sum in compensation.
Lin Li’s ship-destroying spree had just caused a massive loss for the docks’ management, the Red Blood Gang.
Given the Red Blood Gang’s current financial situation, it was highly unlikely they would be able to come up with the money to compensate the ship owners.
Of course, at this moment, Wu Xiong and Zhang Di didn’t care whether the Red Blood Gang could afford to pay up afterward.
They could barely protect themselves. They were in no state to worry about the fate of the Red Blood Gang or its ability to pay its debts.
STEP, STEP, STEP...
Lin Li strode forward, walking methodically toward Wu Xiong and Zhang Di.
Seeing the masked assailant approach, Wu Xiong and Zhang Di backed away in a panic.
"So the Red Blood Gang’s great backer sent trash like you to help them? Looks like they’re not all they’re cracked up to be!" Lin Li sneered, seeing the fear on his two enemies’ faces.
"You... You bastard! You’re courting death! How dare you insult our Patriarch!"
Wu Xiong and Zhang Di were fiercely loyal to the Wu Family’s Patriarch. Hearing the masked assailant insult their master so brazenly, they roared in fury and charged forward together.
’Tsk... "Patriarch"? Looks like once you kneel, you can never stand up again!’ Lin Li hadn’t expected a casual remark to enrage them so completely. He muttered to himself, then moved to intercept the two furious enemies.
BANG.
BANG.
BANG...
Fierce combat erupted once more on the devastated docks. The fires from the surrounding ignited buildings merged, forming a single, terrifying sea of flames.
"Stay back! It’s dangerous!" Outside the battlefield, more and more Guards arrived near the blaze. They set up a police line to keep ordinary citizens from getting close.
The sounds of intense fighting in the distance showed no signs of stopping, putting immense pressure on the Guards responsible for maintaining order at the scene.
Normally, when these Guards encountered Cultivators who dared to violate city ordinances by fighting openly in public, they would swarm and apprehend them.
Afterward, depending on the severity, the perpetrators would be fined or thrown into the main prison.
But now, on the other side of the raging inferno, the ones fighting on the distant docks were three Peak Tier Two Cultivators.
A battle between Cultivators of that caliber was not something they, as mere Guards, could interfere with.
The only thing the Guards could do now was maintain order, prevent unnecessary casualties, and wait for their superiors to send stronger forces to apprehend those lawless Cultivators.
