I See through Everything
Chapter 349 - 170: Award Presentation
Chapter 349: Chapter 170: Award Presentation
Academician Li Yu had a look of regret. "What a shame. I suppose it will have to be next time."
"There’s always the future. We’ll have more opportunities," Jiang Miao said, having chatted with the academicians, experts, and scholars present for over an hour.
His solid fundamentals, coupled with his extensive and well-remembered knowledge, made him easy to talk to. Many academicians found that they could converse with Jiang Miao, and at the very least, both sides could understand what the other was talking about.
「Nine o’clock in the morning.」
A staff member announced for everyone to take their seats according to their assigned numbers.
After all the attendees were seated, the television station’s film crew also finished their preparations.
Dr. Zhang Shengli, head of the Cyrus National Science and Technology Progress Award review committee, walked onto the stage with the TV host.
At the same time, the recorded broadcast appeared on the camera monitors.
The host faced the camera with a smile and began to speak slowly in a measured, melodious tone, "Respected leaders, experts, and distinguished guests, good morning, everyone!
Welcome to this truly momentous occasion—the National Science and Technology Progress Award evaluation ceremony. Here in this solemn auditorium, we have gathered to witness another glorious milestone in our nation’s scientific and technological fields.
Technology is the foundation of a strong nation, and innovation is the soul of a people’s progress. In this day and age, technology is advancing at an incredible pace, constantly driving social progress and the evolution of human civilization. Today, we are gathered here to commend the outstanding teams and individuals who have bravely scaled the peaks of their fields, relentlessly innovated, and made extraordinary contributions to our nation’s scientific and technological advancement.
Every scientific achievement being considered here embodies the wisdom and sweat of countless researchers. They represent the cutting edge of our country’s technological development and showcase the innovative spirit and tenacious character of our nation’s scientific community.
Our review process...
And now, I declare the National Science and Technology Progress Award ceremony officially open! Please welcome the chairman of the review committee, Dr. Zhang Shengli, to announce the list of award recipients..."
CLAP CLAP CLAP...
The hall filled with applause.
Zhang Shengli took the microphone, gave a slight nod to the crowd, and said directly, "The recipients of the ’25 National Science and Technology Progress Second-Class Award are..."
From his seat in the audience, Jiang Miao listened as representatives from several award-winning groups went up to receive their prizes, present their achievements, and give their acceptance speeches.
Beside him, Academician Li leaned over and whispered, "General Manager Jiang, do you have your speech ready?"
"They’re ready. Two of them, in fact," Jiang Miao replied with a smile.
「An hour later.」
It was finally Jiang Miao’s turn.
His mouth dry from speaking, Zhang Shengli continued, "The recipients of the National Science and Technology Progress First-Class Award are: Dr. Jiang Miao’s team and Lin Shuya’s team, from Hailufeng Company in Lingnan Province. They have respectively developed the artificial breeding technology for the Pacific Eel and the artificial cultivation technology for the White Truffle. Let’s have a round of applause for Dr. Jiang Miao as he comes to the stage to accept the awards."
CLAP CLAP CLAP...
Amidst the thunderous applause, Jiang Miao walked slowly onto the stage, bathed in the spotlight.
He accepted two certificates from Zhang Shengli’s hands, then took the microphone with a smile. "Hello, everyone. I am Jiang Miao. It’s a great honor to be standing here today to introduce my own achievements and, of course, the achievements of my wife."
The applause roared once more.
On the large screen behind the podium, a summary and images of the Pacific Eel artificial breeding technology were displayed.
"...and that is the artificial breeding technology for eels."
"...The above has been a brief overview of the artificial cultivation technology for White Truffles."
After Jiang Miao’s brief presentation, many of the industry experts and scholars in attendance understood the basics. Of course, replicating the technology based on this summary was obviously impossible.
Even if they could replicate it, they wouldn’t. Both technologies had already been registered with relevant patents, meaning they couldn’t be freely replicated or used within the country.
With the technical presentation complete, it was time for the acceptance speech.
Jiang Miao began to speak again. "First, I am incredibly grateful to my family for their unwavering support. I am also deeply thankful to my alma mater and my teachers for the knowledge they imparted to me..."
The opening remarks, starting with a round of thanks—it was pretty standard procedure.
"Through these past few years of research, I’ve discovered that humanity has its limits. Perhaps traditional scientific methods have reached their end. It’s just like how cross-breeding is increasingly unable to meet our breeding needs, while new technologies like genetic modification, cell fusion, gene editing, genome analysis, and metagenomic sequencing have allowed our breeding work to become faster and faster."
Jiang Miao paused for a moment before continuing, "However, beneath this rapid technological progress lie incalculable risks. In scientific research, where opportunity and risk coexist, the question of how to make the right choices becomes a problem we must all face."
He said this primarily to lay the groundwork for some of his future plans.
Meanwhile, the experts and scholars in the audience weren’t listening too intently.
After all, these kinds of acceptance speeches often followed a similar template.
However, a few of the experts who had interacted with Jiang Miao before wore thoughtful expressions. They recalled some of the things Jiang Miao had said in the past. Although he hadn’t stated it outright, they had already guessed that Jiang Miao and Hailufeng Company might be planning a major move.
Of course, Hailufeng Company had indeed made many major moves recently, such as launching its own dedicated store app to go head-to-head with other e-commerce platforms, and contracting over sixteen million acres of desert, sandy terrain, and saline-alkali land in Monan.
All of this was a clear indication of Hailufeng Company’s considerable ambitions.
"...The twenty-first century is the dawn of the Anthropocene. It is a new era for groundbreaking technologies and theories, and likewise, a new era for biology. My company and I will be dedicated to advancing biotechnology and pioneering new frontiers for human existence."
"Thank you!"
CLAP CLAP CLAP...
As applause filled the hall once again, Jiang Miao handed the microphone back to a staff member. He then walked slowly back to his seat with his certificates, under the envious gazes of the audience.
In truth, many people were astonished when they saw Jiang Miao’s youthful face. These were mostly individuals from other industries, many of which had little to no direct connection with Jiang Miao.
After Jiang Miao went on stage to receive his awards, many people began discreetly asking about him.
After learning more, they felt as if they were witnessing a rising sun, about to dawn upon a new era.
After all, Jiang Miao was so young, yet his list of achievements was not only long, but their technological value was also impressive.
This set the minds of many people whirring with new ideas.
