I Return From Hell
Chapter 162: The Last Toilet Stall
Chapter 162 -155: The Last Toilet Stall
Xie Chengyong.
As he searched the fourth floor for anyone who might be there, he glanced curiously at Red Sister, who was sticking close behind him, and couldn’t resist asking, “How come you didn’t go hide like Master Hong?”
“I…”
Red Sister pressed her lips together again. They were already starting to crack, faint traces of blood seeping from the splits. “I’m scared of ghosts.”
“That master looked unreliable from the start. Plus, he’s old, so his yang energy must be weak.”
“Ghosts usually don’t like to get near people with strong yang energy, so I decided to stick with you.”
Xie Chengyong froze.
‘So that’s the reason.’ He’d thought she was following him because she thought he was stronger and felt safer with him.
“There are no ghosts.”
He shook his head, clearly unconvinced.
“It’s true!”
“I’m not lying to you.”
Red Sister started to recount what had just happened to her.
“The girl who went into your room… she saw something and was scared to death?”
“And you couldn’t see a thing?”
The more he listened, the less Xie Chengyong believed her. He couldn’t stop himself from saying, “Isn’t that just one of the hotel’s supposed ‘taboos’? I’m the owner. I can tell you for a fact that all those taboos are fake.”
“So, there are no ghosts.”
“Got it?”
“No, no, no.”
Red Sister shook her head frantically. “I tried to leave, but something started choking me. I kept grabbing at my neck, but I couldn’t feel any hands there.”
“And then… that pale, handsome guy from downstairs… his face just flew right up to mine!”
“I almost died of fright.”
As she spoke, she began to tremble like a leaf.
Clearly, the mere memory was enough to scare her to death.
Xie Chengyong had thought she was talking nonsense, but then he saw the distinct, bluish-purple fingerprints on her neck. He couldn’t help but frown. Seeing the absolute terror on her face…
“Are you sure you’re… all right up here?”
He tapped his own head.
Red Sister: “…”
‘If this were any other time, she would have slapped him right across the face and cursed, ‘You’re the crazy one! Your whole family is crazy!”
But now, she wouldn’t.
She’d already been scared witless!
“Once we get out of here, I’ll pay. You should go get that checked out.”
When Red Sister didn’t respond, Xie Chengyong became even more convinced he was right and couldn’t resist teasing her.
“You…”
Red Sister was fuming.
‘Why won’t he believe me?!’
She couldn’t be bothered to explain further. This man was completely unreliable. She glanced back at the iron door, hoping the two people who had saved her would survive the fight on the third floor.
The next moment, a tremendous crash echoed from downstairs, as if a wall had been smashed through.
“What happened?”
The color drained from their faces, both of them looking alarmed and uncertain.
“Looks like things are getting heated.”
Xie Chengyong added, “Just how deep does their grudge run?”
A worried expression crossed Red Sister’s face.
But she knew nothing. More blood welled up from the cracks in her lips and began to drip onto the floor.
DRIP.
DRIP.
…
All she could do was keep pressing her lips together, even pulling them into her mouth to staunch the bleeding.
Xie Chengyong continued to search room after room.
Soon, he reached the far end of the hallway. It was a public restroom—unisex, with no urinals.
There were four stalls in total.
“If they’re not in here…”
Xie Chengyong frowned. ‘Could that person be Master Hong?’
‘What if Master Hong lied? What if he wasn’t on the fourth floor this whole time, but went down to the third floor without me knowing? Could it be that Master Hong is the one trying to get me?’
‘It wasn’t impossible.’
‘Especially when he remembered using Master Hong as a human shield to block Xia Yu’s attack. Master Hong hadn’t tried to get back at him for it at all.’
‘Just now, he’d just found a room, ducked inside, and slammed the door shut.’
This…
The more he thought about it, the more likely it seemed that Master Hong was out to get him. Suddenly, any guilt he’d felt about using the man as a human shield evaporated, replaced by a sinister resolve.
BANG.
Xie Chengyong kicked open the first stall door.
Empty.
BANG.
He kicked open the second stall door.
Empty.
“AARGH!”
Just then, Master Hong’s bloodcurdling scream echoed from the hallway.
“Hm?”
Xie Chengyong rushed to the restroom entrance, his expression changing as he stared in the direction of the scream.
Room 404!
‘It’s coming from there!’
WHOOSH!
He shot off without a second’s hesitation, not even bothering to check the last two stalls.
His movement was so abrupt that Red Sister didn’t have time to follow, leaving her standing alone in the restroom.
“You…”
Her expression changed. Just as she was about to run after him…
A chill ran down her spine.
CREAK.
Then, the door to the last stall slowly swung open.
She couldn’t see anything in the darkness, but she had a terrible premonition that something was walking out of it!
“AHHH!!!”
She let out a piercing scream. An adrenaline rush gave her an astonishing burst of potential, and she shot out of the restroom with a starting speed that would rival Su Shen.
???
Xie Chengyong, who had only made it a few meters, was utterly confused. He couldn’t help but glance back.
For some reason, the sight of Red Sister—her hair a mess, her face as white as a sheet, her mouth smeared with blood—made his heart leap into his throat. A sliver of fear took root.
A single word surfaced in his mind: Ghost!
“What are you screaming about?”
Then, Xie Chengyong snapped out of it, feeling he’d overreacted. He slowed down to let Red Sister catch up before asking his question.
“A ghost!”
“There’s a ghost in the restroom!”
Red Sister kept glancing back over her shoulder, her face pale as dust.
“A ghost?” Xie Chengyong asked. “Are you having another one of your fits?”
“There really is one!”
“It was in the last stall! She came out! She came out!” Red Sister insisted.
“Oh?”
Hearing this, Xie Chengyong hesitated, slowing his pace even more. “Someone’s there? It must be the person who’s after me!”
“It has to be!”
He glanced again at Room 404, where Master Hong was still screaming. Gritting his teeth, he made his decision. “Let’s go!”
“We’re going back!”
???
Red Sister shook her head wildly, splattering blood from her lips onto Xie Chengyong. “I’m not going! I’m not going!”
“What the hell is there to be scared of?”
“You’ve got me here, don’t you? Even if it’s a ghost, I’ll stab a goddamn hole in it!”
Xie Chengyong brandished his switchblade menacingly and strode back toward the restroom.
This time, however, Red Sister didn’t follow. Instead, she backed away frantically, getting ready to open the iron door and go find Xia Yu and Little Flower.
‘The fourth floor is too dangerous!’
“I’d like to see for myself if you’re a person or a ghost!”
“Get the hell out here!”
Paying Red Sister no mind, Xie Chengyong walked straight back into the restroom and made a beeline for the last stall.
The stall door was now shut tight.
Xie Chengyong frowned, then kicked it open anyway.
