Chapter 131: Chapter 124: You’ll Die a Horrible Death

Chen Hang.

To stay alive, he had been keeping his eyes and ears wide open, his nerves stretched taut.

"A monster!"

Because of this, he was the first to spot a scrawny, withered hedgehog sneaking toward them.

The hedgehog’s quills were sharp and pointed, like large silver needles, but many of them were missing—only about half remained.

It looked rather comical.

But Chen Hang didn’t dare be careless. He frantically pounded on the SUV. "Help! Help me! A monster is coming! Open the door! I don’t want to die!"

But it was no use.

No one opened the door.

"You cold-blooded bastards! You’ll all die a horrible death! A horrible death!"

Chen Hang’s face was full of venomous resentment.

Without stopping, he endured the pain in his body, jumped straight into a boat by the pond’s edge, and began to row for his life.

"Take me with you."

At that moment, the Snake Man actually crawled out from under the vehicle. His clothes were severely shredded, clumps of hair and large patches of scalp were missing, and his face was covered in scrapes. He looked exceptionally miserable.

He desperately crawled toward Chen Hang.

But it was no use.

Having finally found a chance to live, how could Chen Hang possibly stay behind and wait to die?

Forget the fact that he and the Snake Man weren’t close—even if it were his own father, he wouldn’t have stayed.

"I’m just a normal rich kid! I have nothing but money! If you want to live, go ask the people in the car. They can save you."

He rowed with all his might.

SWOOSH.

The hedgehog glanced at Chen Hang, a look of fear in its eyes, then turned its gaze to the Snake Man.

"Save me... BANG... Save me..."

Terrified, the Snake Man hurriedly pounded on the car door.

But it was no use.

The door didn’t open. Not even a window was lowered.

SWOOSH.

The hedgehog approached cautiously. Seeing no movement from the humans inside the vehicle, it slowly relaxed and began to charge.

"No, don’t come any closer! Don’t come any closer!"

The Snake Man thought about hiding under the vehicle again, but then he realized the hedgehog was small enough to easily get under there with him. He would die either way. His only choice was to blindly grab at the gravel nearby and hurl it at the creature.

But it was no use.

The fast-moving hedgehog was impossible for him to hit.

"AHH!"

The Snake Man felt death approaching and instinctively squeezed his eyes shut, letting out a horrific scream.

Suddenly, a gunshot rang out.

The fast-moving hedgehog sensed mortal danger and, in its terror, had a stress reaction.

FWOOSH.

...

All of its remaining quills shot out at once.

THWIP.

THUNK.

...

Seeing this, Little Nannan, who had popped her head out from the roof of the vehicle, instantly ducked back down.

A multitude of needle-like dents appeared on the car door.

Luckily, it was an SUV with thick, heavy doors; otherwise, they would have likely been pierced through.

"Thank you, thank you."

The Snake Man had been hit by three quills—one in the shoulder, one in the right side of his chest, and one in his abdomen. Though it hurt immensely, he was undeniably alive. The feeling of surviving a close brush with death filled him with endless gratitude.

"Nan, that was too risky."

Xie Shaokun glanced out the window at the now-dead hedgehog and said with lingering fear, "Be more careful. The attack methods of these Mutated Beasts are too varied."

"Okay."

Little Nannan nodded, poked her head out again, and raised her long rifle, preparing to shoot the Red-eyed Mutant Beasts surrounding Xia Yu.

CRASH.

A massive, abrupt impact resounded.

The SUV felt as if it had been rear-ended. Despite the brakes being on, it still shot forward more than a meter, crashing into the guardrail by the pond.

The vehicle, already on the edge of the pond, was now in danger of falling in.

"Let’s go, now!"

At this point, they couldn’t worry about Xia Yu’s warnings anymore; they had to get out of the vehicle. Xie Shaokun took the lead, throwing open the door and jumping out.

At the same time, Little Nannan and Little Flower also leaped from the vehicle.

Little Ai was a beat too slow.

BAM.

The vehicle was hit again. The impact wasn’t as strong as the first one, but it was enough to make the SUV break through the pond’s guardrail. The front half of the vehicle was now on the slippery slope, sliding uncontrollably toward the water.

"Get out, quick!"

Xie Shaokun planted his feet on a protrusion on the slope and desperately grabbed the door handle, trying to stop the vehicle from sliding, then roared at Little Ai, who was still inside.

Little Nannan, meanwhile, tacitly focused her attention on the goat that was preparing to attack again.

"A Red-eyed Mutant Beast!"

Her expression changed, and she was just about to pull the trigger.

WHOOSH.

Little Flower charged forward.

He grabbed the goat’s horns, and the two began to wrestle.

On the other side, despite Xie Shaokun’s great strength, the several-ton vehicle was still too much for him to hold back.

However, Little Ai, holding the baby boy, still managed to get out of the vehicle in time. But her foot slipped, and she fell onto the slope, tumbling toward the pond.

"Careful!"

Xie Shaokun let go of the door handle, grabbed Little Ai, and started to pull her up little by little.

But then his own feet slipped, and he almost fell as well. In his desperation, he could only dig his fingers into cracks and protrusions, but how could his fingers possibly support the weight of two adults and a baby boy?

His grip was starting to loosen, bit by bit...

"Serves you right!"

"That’s what you get for not saving me, haha."

Chen Hang, now several meters from the shore, taunted them with a look of pure schadenfreude.

"Shut up."

Little Nannan pointed her rifle directly at him and snapped.

Urk.

Chen Hang’s laughter died in his throat. His expression changed in an instant, and he dropped to his knees on the boat. He began slapping his own face, saying, "I was wrong! Don’t kill me! It’s all my fault."

"I deserve a beating."

"Bring the boat over here! Now!"

Little Nannan saw that Xie Shaokun was about to lose his grip and urgently ordered Chen Hang.

Uh...

A glint flashed in Chen Hang’s eyes. He feigned agreement, but his movements were deliberately slow. He was stalling!

BANG.

Little Nannan fired a shot right next to him, hitting the water’s surface and sending ripples across it.

"Holy shit!"

Chen Hang yelped in terror. This time, he didn’t need Little Nannan’s prompting. He moved quickly, getting the boat in position just in time to take on Xie Shaokun, Little Ai, and the baby boy in her arms.

Four people, one boat.

Fortunately, the boat wasn’t small and could easily hold the four of them.

Watching his car, worth hundreds of thousands, gradually sink into the water, now just a waterlogged wreck, Xie Shaokun was heartbroken. "My car..."

ROAR.

SWOOSH.

...

Just then, several more Mutated Beasts charged forward and began to surround Little Flower!

Little Nannan couldn’t worry about Xie Shaokun’s group anymore and began to provide covering fire for Little Flower, but...

WHIZZ.

A pebble came flying through the air.

"Ah!"

Her wrist was hit, and she almost dropped her rifle.

"It’s you!"

Little Nannan cried out in alarm, spotting the newborn monkey crouching in a tree.

WHIZZ.

Her answer was another pebble.

Little Nannan barely dodged it, looking utterly disheveled.

"Little Nannan, get in the water!"

"I’m going to help Brother Hua!"

"Hurry!"

Xie Shaokun roared.

THWACK.

"Hmph."

A pebble hit Little Nannan in the thigh. She let out a pained grunt, the pain unbearable.

SPLASH.

She had no choice. If she stayed, she would die. She decisively slid down the slope into the pond, getting soaked to the bone.

Seeing this, the little monkey started to charge but then glanced at the pond with apprehension and ultimately gave up.

"Go to the center of the pond. You can shoot from a distance there. It’s too dangerous here; I’m afraid I can’t protect you."

Xie Shaokun pulled Little Nannan onto the boat and gave her the instruction. Then he leaped off the boat, landed on the roof of the SUV, and once again exerted his strength, grabbing a protrusion on the slope and quickly climbing up.

Without Little Ai and the baby boy weighing him down, he easily climbed ashore.

On the boat.

Chen Hang rowed for his life.

Little Nannan quickly wiped the water from her face and turned her head to look toward the center of the pond...
