“Manager Li, is there something you need?”

Once the call connected, Liu Weiwei spoke cautiously. This was their sponsor, after all—someone who held real power—so she didn’t dare be careless. Her tone was extremely polite.

Li Shen spoke slowly. He had planned to contact Liu Weiwei at two o’clock to talk about bringing her on board with Boring Short Video.

But to his surprise, Liu Weiwei streamed from two all the way to eight. Even her roommate did the same.

“Please go ahead, Manager Li.”

Liu Weiwei grew a bit nervous when she realized he really did have something serious to discuss.

“Here’s the situation. We’ve been watching your performance closely, and we know how much effort you’ve put into promoting Boring Short Video.”

“We’ve made a decision on our end. We’d like to formally invite you to join Boring Short Video as full-time employees.”

Li Shen got straight to the point, then continued.

“If you join Boring Short Video, here’s what we’re offering. Listen to the terms first, then you can decide.”

“In terms of salary, we’re offering a monthly wage of 30,000 yuan. We’ll also cover your full social insurance and housing fund. On top of that, you’ll receive various monthly benefits and subsidies, like travel allowances and shopping vouchers. If you don’t have a driver’s license, we’ll cover the cost of getting one. And if you wear glasses, the company will reimburse you for a new pair after you join.”

“The salary isn’t fixed either. It will increase over time.”

“Beyond that, all company holidays follow the official national calendar. You’ll have weekends off, and there’s no overtime.”

“That’s the general package. Of course, the company also holds occasional events, like sports meets, with some pretty great prizes.”

After listing all the benefits, Li Shen fell silent, waiting patiently for their response.

“Manager Li, could we have some time to discuss it?”

Liu Weiwei asked tentatively. The offer sounded generous, and she wasn’t sure how to respond right away.

In the dorm room, Liu Weiwei stared at her phone in a daze for a long while.

It wasn’t until several moments later that she snapped out of it and looked over at Yang Yaoyao, who was sitting beside her.

“Yaoyao, what do you think we should do?”

She had put the phone on speaker earlier, so Yang Yaoyao had heard everything Manager Li said.

Yang Yaoyao looked hesitant. She didn’t know what to choose either.

If they only considered their current income, they were making 800 yuan a day, which added up to a decent monthly sum.

But now, President Chen was offering them a salary that already surpassed their current monthly earnings. On top of that, there were tons of benefits—including full insurance coverage. Right now, their live-streaming work didn’t come with any kind of insurance.

And then there were the weekends off. With live-streaming, they had to work every single day. There was no such thing as a break.

If you added everything up, the salary and benefits Li Shen offered already far exceeded what they were earning from live-streaming.

However, what made the decision difficult was that their live-streaming income had room to grow.

If they reached Tier 3, they’d be making 1,200 yuan a day, which would bring their monthly income to a much higher level.

Of course, when you factored in all the benefits of joining Boring Short Video, the difference wasn’t that big. And the company perks added even more value.

But if they stuck with live-streaming long enough, they could eventually reach Tier 4—the highest pay grade for streamers.

At that level, they’d be earning 1,600 yuan a day, which would make for a very impressive monthly income.

Yang Yaoyao thought about it for a long time before finally making up her mind. She looked up at Liu Weiwei.

“I’ve decided. I want to join the short video platform.”

After weighing everything carefully, she felt that, at least for now, joining the platform was the better choice. Plus, with the insurance and other benefits, it would feel like a real job.

It would also be easier to explain to her parents. Otherwise, if she kept doing live-streamed teaching, her more traditional parents would definitely worry.

Besides, even if they continued with live-streaming and aimed for higher pay tiers, that would take time.

Reaching Tier 3 alone would already require a significant investment of time and effort, let alone Tier 4.

The requirement to advance to Tier Three was that the Academic Subject Live Stream had to reach 500,000 viewers and maintain that number consistently for a full month.

But after all their promotion efforts, the Educational Live Stream had only just barely reached over 80,000 viewers.

So, raising the viewership of the Academic Subject Live Stream to 500,000 would clearly take a long time.

With that comparison in mind,

She still felt that joining a short video platform was the better choice.

“In that case, let’s join Boring Short Video together.”

Liu Weiwei smiled slightly, then exclaimed with delight.

“Manager Li, we’ve made up our minds. We’re going to join the Boring Short Video Platform,” Liu Weiwei replied.

“Then welcome aboard. You’ll soon be part of the Boring Short Video team. Let me know when you’re free to come by the company and sign the contract. Once that’s done, you’ll officially be on board.”

“Alright, Manager Li. We don’t need much preparation. We can come by tomorrow afternoon,” Liu Weiwei said after doing a quick calculation.

“Great. Then I’ll call you again tomorrow to confirm.”

Once they had settled on a time, Li Shen ended the call.

Liu Weiwei put her phone away and looked at Yang Yaoyao.

“We’re scheduled to sign the contract with the short video platform tomorrow.”

“Perfect. Boring Short Video’s headquarters is in Jiangcheng. Let’s pack up now and catch a flight back there in the morning,” Yang Yaoyao said with a nod, then added, “I’ll call my family. After we sign the contract, you can stay at my place for now.”

She’d heard from her mother not long ago that they had moved into a new house with plenty of rooms. She and Liu Weiwei would have no problem staying there.

As for her parents’ decision to move, she fully supported it.

Both of them worked at the clothing factory, where the pay and benefits were decent, and now she had a good job too.

Her parents deserved a better living environment. The old house had been far too small and run-down.

Even if they hadn’t wanted to move, she had planned to buy them a new place once she earned enough money. Her younger sister was still in school and needed a good environment to study in as well.

The only thing was, if she called now and told them she was moving back to Jiangcheng for work,

Her parents would definitely start trying to persuade her to work at the clothing factory again, going on about how it was part of some big corporate group.

She’d been to that clothing factory before. “Corporate group”? Please. That was just something they told her parents, who didn’t know any better. She knew exactly what kind of standards a real corporate group had.

Still, she didn’t argue about it. At the very least, the clothing factory treated her parents well.
