Ch. 1301 - You Really Are Dogs
New Novel🪶
The two men looked at each other and seemed to think of the same thing. Their gazes simultaneously turned toward Xu Zimo. Though they found it hard to believe, when they recalled what he had said, it did seem that recently, the Vast Heaven God Realm had only come into contact with one outsider, Xu Zimo.
“Finished watching the show?” Xu Zimo ignored the two Saint Sovereigns and looked straight at the newcomer.
“One of the Eighteen Infernal Archons, Celestial Devourer, greets the Lord,” Celestial Devourer said solemnly, kneeling on one knee.
“Where is Hellfire Asura?” Xu Zimo frowned and asked.
Celestial Devourer hesitated for a moment before replying, “He had some matters to attend to and could not come.”
“Do you believe that excuse?” Xu Zimo sneered. “Is it really that he’s busy, or that he doesn’t want to come?”
“May the Lord see clearly,” Celestial Devourer quickly said.
“You think I came here to seek your help?” Xu Zimo asked.
Celestial Devourer remained kneeling in silence. In truth, that was exactly what he thought. The current Infernal Lord was not what he had been in the previous epoch. His power might have once been unrivaled, but now, Xu Zimo needed people to protect his path.
“Whether you follow me or not doesn’t matter. I won’t force you,” Xu Zimo said calmly. “I just want to ask one thing, why did you betray me back then?”
“My Lord, there are outsiders present,” Celestial Devourer said, glancing at the members of the Vast Heaven God Realm with hesitation.
“Senior, don’t worry. We can find you a quiet place,” Qiao Huijun quickly offered.
“The matter between me and your Vast Heaven God Realm isn’t over yet,” Xu Zimo said coldly.
“Senior, please forgive us. We were blinded by greed and momentarily lost our judgment,” Qiao Huijun apologized hastily.
“Enough,” the Martial Spirit Saint Sovereign finally interjected, unable to bear watching. After all, Vast Heaven God Realm was the top sect of the Southern Region, it was humiliating to be this submissive.
“May I ask, Senior, what position you hold among the Ancient Demons?” the Martial Spirit Saint Sovereign asked Celestial Devourer. “Our Vast Heaven God Realm has always been on good terms with the Ancient Demon Realm and has followed its commands on many occasions. Please, for our sake, let bygones be bygones.”
“Your Vast Heaven God Realm’s ‘face’ means nothing to me. Tell Qi Haoran to come out,” Celestial Devourer said bluntly.
It was clear he knew Vast Heaven God Realm’s strongest person was Qi Haoran. As for the Martial Spirit Saint Sovereign and War Heaven Saint Sovereign, who had only recently entered the Saint Sovereign Realm within the past ten thousand years, he didn’t even consider them worth speaking to.
“Senior, you go too far,” War Heaven said stiffly. “We respect you, but that doesn’t mean you can act without restraint.”
Though they knew Celestial Devourer was strong, they believed that if they joined forces, they might still stand a chance. It seemed a fight was inevitable.
“My Lord, let this be my gift to you,” Celestial Devourer said, standing up slowly. “Shall I destroy the Vast Heaven God Realm for you?”
“I don’t need your gift,” Xu Zimo replied. “Do you think that because I’m weaker now, I’m no longer fit to be your Lord? Perhaps you’re right, after millions of years, hearts have truly grown fickle.”
“Never, my Lord!” Celestial Devourer said hurriedly.
“If I wanted to destroy the Vast Heaven God Realm, I wouldn’t need your help,” Xu Zimo said flatly. “After all, you already betrayed me once millions of years ago, this doesn’t surprise me anymore.”
He waved his hand, and a torrent of infernal energy erupted across the entire God World. It surged outward, growing stronger and more oppressive until it suppressed even Celestial Devourer’s aura.
Moments later, three figures emerged, Paimon, Seven-Face, and Red-Blade Bull Demon. They strode forth like ancient demonic gods, their presence carrying the oppressive decay of a bygone era.
The infernal energy roared skyward.
“Celestial Devourer, it’s been a long time,” Paimon said first.
“You… you all…” Celestial Devourer was momentarily speechless.
“Three Saint Sovereigns…” The War Heaven Saint Sovereign, the Martial Spirit Saint Sovereign, and the disciples of Vast Heaven God Realm were all dumbfounded.
“Elders, are we still fighting?” Qiao Huijun asked nervously.
“If you want to fight, go ahead,” the Martial Spirit Saint Sovereign snapped, glaring at him. Clearly, he had no sense of timing.
“How are you all here?” Celestial Devourer asked.
“Celestial Devourer, I must say, you’ve grown quite audacious,” Red-Blade Bull Demon said. “After all these years, you dare act arrogantly before our Lord himself.”
Compared to the fiery Bull Demon, Paimon was gentler. “Celestial Devourer, how have you been faring in the Ancient Demon Realm?”
“Not bad,” Celestial Devourer replied. “Though we live under Heaven’s suppression, no one dares trouble us.”
“No wonder, you just want to live peacefully now?” Paimon asked.
“If I wanted peace, I wouldn’t have come here,” Celestial Devourer replied. “But Hellfire Asura…” He sighed heavily, and the meaning was clear.
…
The two patriarchs of Vast Heaven God Realm watched Xu Zimo and the others reminiscing. War Heaven and Martial Spirit Saint Sovereign patted Qiao Huijun on the shoulder. “We still need to enter seclusion. We’ll leave this to you.”
“But… Elders, they…” Qiao Huijun stammered, pointing to Xu Zimo’s group.
“Xu Zimo came for you, not for us,” War Heaven Saint Sovereign said. “You provoked him yourself, you should reflect on that.”
“Since it’s your mess, you clean it up.”
Qiao Huijun felt as if a thousand divine beasts were trampling through his chest. “Elders, it was you who told me to do this!” he protested.
“Was it?” War Heaven Saint Sovereign turned to the Martial Spirit Saint Sovereign.
“I don’t recall,” the latter said with a shake of his head.
They patted Qiao Huijun’s shoulder again. “Since Realm Lord Qi is in seclusion, as the Vice-Lord, you should set an example. It’s settled, you handle it.”
As he watched the two old men hurry away, Qiao Huijun stood frozen, dumbfounded.
“I don’t know if they’re senile, but I do know they’re dogs,” he muttered inwardly.
Still, he understood their feelings, against opponents like these, their presence or absence made no difference. If the other side wanted to destroy the sect, they couldn’t stop it anyway.
…
“Let’s talk inside the courtyard,” Xu Zimo said. Knowing too many people were around, he didn’t want eavesdroppers. He turned to Qiao Huijun.
Qiao Huijun’s face twisted into a miserable smile. “As you command, Young Master Xu.”
“As I said before, tell Qi Haoran to see me,” Xu Zimo said.
“Understood, I’ll invite him right away,” Qiao Huijun said quickly.
