Chapter 706: Chapter 706: You Can’t Be Too Carefree When You’re Pregnant

Evergreen Garden.

Claire Sinclair’s belly had become noticeably rounder. The slightly form-fitting dresses and pants she’d bought before no longer fit, and even her undergarments were too snug. Since she couldn’t leave the house, she had to ask Helen Wallace to go out and buy her some loose maternity clothes.

Faye Dean had been staying with her this whole time to keep her company. With both of them pregnant, their time together was never boring. Still, their days of just eating and sleeping felt a little unproductive.

Before she knew it, it was time for her prenatal check-up. Claire needed to go to the hospital, but she couldn’t leave the house. She sent a message to Adrian Quincy: "Mr. Quincy, I told you last night, remember? I have my 4D ultrasound today."

Adrian Quincy: "I’ll be over in a bit to pick you up."

’He’s finally coming over!’

Claire was suddenly filled with anticipation. She replied, "Okay, I’ll be waiting."

After a pause, Claire looked up at her best friend, who was playing a game on her phone, and added another message: "Faye needs a check-up, too."

Adrian Quincy: "Bring her with you."

Claire: "Okay!"

’This is perfect!’

Claire put down her phone and said excitedly, "Faye, Mr. Quincy is coming to take us to the hospital for our check-ups."

Faye paused, then said nonchalantly, "No, you go with him. I don’t want to be a third wheel."

"Faye... Why are you being like this? I don’t mind."

"You might not mind, but I do. The only reason I’ve been staying here to keep you company is because your husband wasn’t around. Otherwise, how could I just keep freeloading in someone else’s house? A best friend has to have some boundaries. It’s a matter of principle."

Claire was speechless.

’What Faye said made sense. If the roles were reversed, she wouldn’t feel comfortable constantly going to her prenatal check-ups with someone else’s husband either. It just wouldn’t be proper.’

’In that case...’ "Then what about your baby? You can’t just keep skipping your check-ups."

Faye said dismissively, "You’re the one on house arrest, not me. I can go to the hospital for my check-up by myself whenever I want."

"But I worry about you going by yourself."

"What’s there to worry about? Look at me, I’m sharp as a tack and not exactly small. Who would dare mess with me?"

"It’s different when you’re pregnant." Claire was still worried. Faye was almost two months further along in her pregnancy than her, and her belly was already huge.

The bigger the baby gets, the more careful you have to be. Every expectant mother wants her baby to be born healthy and safe.

It was a feeling that perhaps only another pregnant woman could understand.

Faye could see Claire’s concern. She put down her phone and tried to comfort her, "Claire, I know you’re worried about me, but you have enough to worry about on your own. The moment I decided to come back for him, I was already prepared to raise this child by myself. Otherwise, why would I have come back at all?"

"I’m just scared that when it’s time for you to give birth, you’ll be all alone..." The very thought of it made Claire’s heart ache.

’Faye had already decided to wait three years for Frank Morgan. Claire couldn’t even begin to imagine how difficult those three years would be.’

Seeing her friend on the verge of tears, Faye’s heart ached. She pulled her into a hug. "There, there, sweetie. You and your husband go on ahead. Sister Helen and I will go to the hospital later, okay?"

"Okay." A weight was finally lifted from Claire’s shoulders.

Standing by, Helen Wallace shook her head with a helpless sigh. ’They’re both pregnant,’ she thought. ’Claire worries a lot, but she’s very thoughtful. Faye, on the other hand, is a bit too careless for a pregnant woman.’

’Either way, she had to keep a close eye on both of them. After all, they were her good buddy’s women.’
