Chapter 691: Chapter 691: To This Day, People Still Use Such a Moronic Ploy

Claire Sinclair frowned. Without giving it much thought, she headed back to the main hall.

The path back took her through a long hallway. Just as she was about halfway down, with a sudden SNAP, the power went out!

The world was instantly plunged into pitch-black darkness, so dark you couldn’t even see your hand in front of your face.

After a moment of panic, Claire quickly pulled her phone from her pocket and turned on its flashlight.

The next second, she saw a dark figure dash into the emergency exit.

’So fast!’

’Was that a person or a ghost?’

Claire felt a sudden chill run down her spine. Not daring to linger, she quickened her pace back toward the hall.

Fortunately, after she had taken only a few more steps, the hotel’s power came back on.

Before Claire had even reached the hall’s entrance, she saw Adrian Quincy hurrying toward her. He pulled her into an emotional embrace. "Claire, are you all right?"

Claire managed a helpless smile. "I’m fine. What are you doing out here?"

"I was worried about you."

"Everything’s fine now. Let’s go back."

Adrian nodded, squeezing her hand a little tighter, not daring to let his guard down again.

The two returned to the dining hall and continued their meal.

Since Lucas Rhodes had difficulty with his legs and Ivy Tanner had some cognitive challenges, the wedding banquet’s toasting ceremony was canceled. The guests were all amusing themselves, and the atmosphere was incredibly lively.

Just as the banquet was about to end, a woman suddenly stood up. Microphone in hand, she walked onto the stage, her face a mask of anxiety. "Everyone, I’m so sorry to bother you," she said urgently, "but has anyone seen a blue gem? This blue sapphire was a token of love from my husband. It’s worth forty million, but it just went missing."

Claire Sinclair frowned. ’Why does that woman look so familiar?’

’Right, she’s the one who bumped into me in the restroom earlier!’

The miniskirt she wore and her distinctive hairstyle made her easy to remember.

’That bump earlier...’

Claire vaguely sensed what had happened. She opened her clutch, and sure enough, there was an unfamiliar blue sapphire necklace inside.

’Such a low-class trick. How are morons still using something like this today?’

Claire slowly leaned over to her husband’s ear and whispered, "Adrian, that woman bumped into me and slipped her sapphire into my bag."

Adrian Quincy’s expression remained unchanged. "Give it to Theo Rhodes," he said in a low voice.

Claire smiled. "I was planning on doing just that."

Claire discreetly passed the sapphire to Theo Rhodes and sent him a message on WeChat: *That woman bumped into me in the restroom, and now this is in my bag. I’m leaving it to you.*

Theo Rhodes glanced down at the message, then looked at the sapphire in his hand. The corner of his mouth curled into a devilish smirk.

’Daring to pull a cheap trick like this right in front of me? Honey, you’re finished.’

Onstage, the woman’s gaze swept quickly across the hall, finally locking onto Claire Sinclair. She called her out by name, "Claire Sinclair, I’m sorry, but I accidentally bumped into you in the restroom earlier. Did you see my sapphire?"

Before Claire could reply, Theo Rhodes cut in, "Miss, have you had too much to drink? You clearly went into the men’s restroom just now and bumped into me. I ended up finding this sapphire. Is this the one you dropped?"

As he spoke, Theo Rhodes stood up, walked onto the stage alone, and held the sapphire necklace out to her.

Suddenly finding the tables turned on her, the woman was completely dumbfounded. She stammered, "I... I..." but was too stunned to get another word out.

Seeing this, others in the audience couldn’t help but speak up in Claire’s defense: "Miss, that’s not right of you. You went into the men’s restroom and dropped your own belongings, how can you falsely accuse Claire Sinclair?"
