Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Look! Look! I Found a Miniature Version of You

"As expected of the man who dominates the male charm rankings! I’m about to be scorched beyond recognition by these girls’ fiery gazes! Can you feel their passion?"

After sending the message, Shu Yao glanced over at Qin Shiwei, one eyebrow raised as she coolly awaited his reaction.

Qin Shiwei offered a faint smile and replied unhurriedly:

"Your warmth is the only one I need."

’Damn!’

’This guy looks so stoic and proper; I didn’t realize his flirting game was so strong.’

’I wonder if it’s a case of practice makes perfect...’ ℴℴ𝘮

Shu Yao got back to the matter at hand. "You didn’t run into our son, did you?"

Qin Shiwei glanced in a certain direction with a look of resignation.

Following his gaze, Shu Yao spotted the little guy hiding behind a water tank, stealthily peeking at a man.

"Xiao Juzi!" Shu Yao called out in a hushed voice.

Hearing his mother’s voice, the little guy’s ears twitched. He quickly turned toward the sound and saw his mother waving energetically, a brilliant smile spreading across his face.

He started running on his short little legs, his feet going PITTER-PATTER.

Suddenly, a shadow fell over him.

Xiao Juzi felt the strap on his back tighten, and in the next moment, his feet left the ground as he was hoisted into the air.

Lifted high, he came face-to-face with a pair of inquisitive eyes. Xiao Juzi glared, his high-pitched, childish voice uttering a fierce threat, "Let me go! Or I’ll have my uncle beat you up!"

Threatened by the little tyke, the man actually laughed, revealing a cute canine tooth. It added a hint of wild, untamable spirit to his otherwise carefree smile.

"Mr. Qin, look, look! I found a mini-you!"

The man presented the little guy to Qin Shiwei as if showing off a prize. Even though he saw the clear look of revulsion on the Commander-in-Chief’s face, he didn’t stop.

"Yerman, do you want me to throw you into a wormhole the next time we deploy?!" the man growled, his patience clearly at its end.

He backed away to the nearest tank, hoping its strong fishy smell would overwhelm the little one’s sense of smell.

Yerman said plaintively, "But this kid really does look just like you!"

’Of course he does, you idiot! That’s my own son!’

Qin Shiwei’s face remained taut. "Let the boy find his own family. And don’t you forget what you’re here to do!"

Yerman set the little guy on the ground, a little reluctant to let go.

The moment his feet touched the ground, Xiao Juzi swiped back, leaving three thin scratches on the back of Yerman’s hand.

"You little brat!" Spurred by the pain, Yerman instantly flew into a rage, his once-bright eyes suddenly swept with darkness.

"You provoked him first," Qin Shiwei said coldly.

The implication was that he had it coming.

Xiao Juzi puffed out his cheeks, shot him a frown, and then darted into the crowd to find his mother.

Yerman noticed something in the shape of the scratches on the back of his hand, his expression turning to one of surprise.

"A Beastman?!"

He peered into the crowd, but the little guy was nowhere to be seen.

"Stop zoning out." Qin Shiwei redirected his attention. "You volunteered for this assignment, so start taking it seriously!"

Yerman scoffed. "You’re one to talk about being distracted! Spill it. Who were you just messaging?"

"Say one more irrelevant word and you can get the hell back to base!" A terrifying agitation flickered in Qin Shiwei’s eyes, and the pressure around him dropped, becoming almost suffocating.

Yerman fell silent at once.

With peace finally restored, Qin Shiwei’s brow relaxed a fraction as he scanned the crowd.

He couldn’t see Shu Yao or the little guy.

The agitation in his heart was like a beast that had tasted blood; it swelled in an instant, becoming nearly impossible to contain. His brow furrowed once more.

Just then, his Light Brain received a new text message.

"Do your job and stop looking around."

Those six words instantly soothed the storm of negative emotions in Qin Shiwei’s heart. The gloom in his eyes melted away, replaced by a serene warmth, and his expression became incredibly gentle.
