Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Forgive Me, I Really Can’t Think of a Reason to Apologize to You

"Apologize!"

"You must apologize!"

"Apologize to Miss Xiangxiang!"

"Apologize! Apologize!"

It was unclear who started it, but the fans blocked outside the venue began to chant in unison. The sound crashed down on the isolated Shu Yao with the force of a tidal wave.

"Anyone who cannot remain quiet, please leave the premises!"

Yudola asserted her authority as the Empress to control the scene, suppressing the fans’ rising emotions.

"Your Majesty, please don’t blame them!" Lin Zhenxiang turned to Shu Yao, looking helpless, her voice trembling on the verge of tears as she pleaded, "Sister Shu, this whole situation blew up because of you in the first place. I hope you can take some responsibility and help me put this to rest. It would set a good example for your son, too! He’s still so young, after all, and his sense of right and wrong hasn’t fully formed yet..."

"Pfft!" A strange, mocking laugh from Shu Yao cut her off. "A grown child who still hasn’t left her parents’ side is trying to teach me how to be a parent? Are you serious?"

The color drained from Lin Zhenxiang’s face.

"If my daughter isn’t qualified, then surely I am!" Zhen Zhen’s gaze was like a sharp knife stabbing toward Shu Yao. "We’ve already been very lenient with you! I’m warning you now—if you don’t offer a formal apology, we’ll see you in court!"

Shu Yao lightly touched her forehead, feigning a look of someone wracking their brain in thought.

She lowered her hand and looked at them with an apologetic expression. "Forgive me, but I really can’t seem to think of any reason to apologize to you."

"You’re absolutely shameless!" Zhen Zhen, having reached her limit, began to list off Shu Yao’s numerous crimes. "Not only did you dine and dash with your child, but then you blamed our restaurant’s food when your son got an upset stomach! And who knows what tricks you pulled to get a fake medical certificate!

You were jealous of our restaurant’s success, so you deliberately used tricks to make everyone think we have a food safety problem! You upset our Xiangxiang so much that she hasn’t been in the mood to livestream at all!

You are such a treacherous, vicious person! Making you apologize is letting you off easy! People like you should be rotting in an interstellar prison or crawling back to the Lower Star District, never to show your face again!"

Shu Yao shifted her position and said lazily, "Oh, please. I’m so tired of hearing this story. You keep saying I dined and dashed with my child, but then what is this?"

She displayed a payment receipt via her Light Brain and calmly explained to everyone:

"We went to the restaurant on April 6th. The night before, I had already reserved a table and a set menu. This is the transaction record.

I’d like to ask those who accused me of dining and dashing: do you business owners ever bother to check your own transaction records? Or do you just make baseless accusations based on your personal feelings?"

Her gaze drifted hauntingly toward Lin Zhenxiang.

"As far as I know, the reason Miss Lin hasn’t been livestreaming has to do with her health. Not feeling well physically, not being in a good mood—I can understand that.

You ate a diseased fish from your own family’s restaurant and got an upset stomach yourself. We even ran into each other at the entrance of Imperial Hospital that day, didn’t we?

Your recovery was amazingly fast. My son is still quite weak."

A flash of venomous hatred crossed Lin Zhenxiang’s eyes.

She put on an innocent, bewildered expression and said:

"Sister Shu, what are you talking about? The district police arrived right after you left the restaurant that day. They already cleared my name. After that, I went home with my mother. I never went to the hospital at all!"

"Oh, is that so?" Shu Yao smiled, her tone strange as she spoke slowly, deliberately. "Did I see a ghost that day, then? Then again, it wasn’t much different from seeing a ghost. Miss Lin, you looked truly terrifying that day—deathly pale, even scarier than a real ghost!"
