Ma was stunned for a moment.

Having dealt with Shu Chao Yu for so many years, he knew this wasn’t a man who gave up easily.

Ma muttered to himself, lost in thought. Suddenly, something clicked. He grabbed the nutrient solution—a flavor he was long sick of—and stared at Shu Chao Yu, his eyes wide.

"Brother Chao, you’ve found a lead yourself!!"

Shu Chao Yu was noncommittal.

Ma suddenly grew agitated. "That mysterious team that turned the tide of the battle for Ice City—are they connected to that niece of yours from Zone 9!?"

Shu Chao Yu was astonished. "How did you know?"

"Didn’t I just say I had some leads? My investigation led me to the Ninth District! Your niece was found there, so I started wondering if she was connected to the mysterious team you had me looking into! And I was actually right!"

The more Ma spoke, the more excited he became.

Shu Chao Yu only knew that Shu Yao and Ah Bao had met around the time of the battle for Ice City; he wasn’t certain if she had been directly involved in it.

However, from her attitude whenever the battle for Ice City was mentioned, he could tell she had likely experienced something that left scars and shadows she didn’t want uncovered.

And it seemed to have little to do with Ah Bao.

Otherwise, Shu Yao wouldn’t have accepted Ah Bao so quickly and easily.

Ma said, "This niece of yours is something else!"

Shu Chao Yu changed the subject. "Help me look into the Lin Family."

"The Shu Family’s former in-laws?" Ma’s gaze shifted, and he grew wary. "Wait, you’re not planning to have me investigate my food goddess, Miss Xiangxiang, are you!"

Shu Chao Yu chuckled dryly. "Did you not see the video from today?"

Ma had been sleeping all day and was woken by hunger just fifteen minutes ago. He logged onto the Star Network Platform’s food streaming channel, only to find his goddess, Lin Zhenxiang, wasn’t live. He had no choice but to enter another food stream. With reflexes honed by years of being single, he snatched up a tasting slot and then washed down more than half a bottle of nutrient solution with the taste of the food.

Even though the flavors of the food were all data-generated, they were still far more appetizing than the nutrient solution he was long sick of.

The facts proved that Ma was a complete die-hard fan; even after learning the full story, he still stood by his goddess.

"Shu Chao Yu, if you dare lay a finger on Miss Xiangxiang, don’t blame me for getting rough!" Ma threatened.

Shu Chao Yu gritted his teeth, not intimidated in the slightest. "Let me tell you something, Ma. If I find you’ve been harboring a criminal, I’ll make sure you spend the rest of your life in an interstellar prison!"

"You’re calling my goddess a criminal!?" Ma couldn’t stand it. He grabbed the bottle of nutrient solution and was about to throw it.

"Assaulting an officer, are we!" Shu Chao Yu leaned in, offering himself as a target. "Go on! Do it!"

Ma’s bravado wilted. He sheepishly put the bottle back down.

Just then, Ma’s Light Brain chimed with a notification: "Master, a streamer you follow has come online!"

"Miss Xiangxiang is streaming!" Ma was suddenly overjoyed.

He opened her streamer page and found that although Lin Zhenxiang was online, she hadn’t started a stream.

Soon, a new post appeared on Lin Zhenxiang’s homepage.

Ma clicked on it and saw that it was a notice of absence.

In the notice, Lin Zhenxiang stated that due to a severe emotional and mental blow, she needed to take some time to recover and would not be streaming for a while.

After reading the announcement, Ma was immediately filled with righteous indignation and turned his anger on Shu Yao.

"See? It’s all your niece’s fault!"
